Not Quite…

Blueballed! At least for now. After much hype and anticipatory rumors about a tour announcement today, it has come and gone and we have nothing except two leaked dates.  Live Nation screwed up and posted the information about the upcoming Star Lake show on June 18 early before pulling it down.  Ticketmaster’s scalping subsidiary, TicketsNow, has had $200 seats on sale for Great Woods June 9th and the Star Lake show throughout the day.  Imagine that!  Ticketmaster scalping their own tickets to a show that hasn’t yet been announced.  Isn’t that what brokers do?

3176380765_8783fb7841These Great Woods and Star Lake dates are the only ones we know for sure, and for that marathon schedule posted earlier…pssshaw.  I wish.  Unfortunately, neither of the leaked dates are included in that run, and therefore the schedule is proven incorrect.  41 shows over the summer would be quite fun, but quite the hearty undertaking for a comeback tour.  The dates were not given to me randomly however, so don’t dismiss them all together. Though, if we get half of that schedule, we should be psyched.  What also makes me question the validity of the dates is the lack of Jones Beach, which has come in from multiple sources as legit. Yet, Phish hasn’t gone on a tour like that since Summer of ’97 beginning June 13th and ending on August 17th, and that was only 38 shows spanning two continents.

redrocksbigThis much more I am assuming to be true.  Alpine Valley on July 26th and 27th. People are freaking on these dates, and the entire hotel is booked with Phishies.  It will happen.  When Alpine exists, you gotta think Deer Creek will come directly before or after.  Red Rocks 7.29-8.2.  I am sticking with the original dates that have been tossed around for months.  The only thing about the faux dates that are cool is that they are the same dates they played Red Rocks in 1996, perhaps another indication of fabrication.  The Gorge and Shoreline will also be on.

Here is what I will throw out there as guesses.  Phish will play MSG, whether it is part of summer tour or beforehand.  No doubt. Phish will visit Camden for two nights.  Trey loves Camden and the E Center is a Phish staple.  Great Woods will turn into two shows.  I bet they go back to Lakewood for a couple, and the Los Angeles area will get a stop.  I would imagine they will start June in the northeast, working their way down to Bonnaroo and then out to the Midwest, hitting Rothbury on the way and ending at Alpine or Deer Creek.  Then they’ll start back up at Red Rocks, head out west, and go either up or down the coast.  Perhaps they’ll throw a random show or two before Red Rocks to warm up- potentially Sandstone or Phoenix.  I would estimate we will see a summer slate of between 20 and 30 shows.  Anyhow, this is 100% pure conjecture.

Don’t believe anything until you see it up on Phish.com/tourdates!  Hopefully today will be the day.  It’s coming soon….

Thank you Mr. Miner: the Jones Beach ’95 stand were my first shows 🙂 If indeed they open the tour with another stop at JB, it’ll be my 50th! I like the sound of that…full circle and all. Both nights were very fun times, and a great introduction to live Phish. Back then, the JB amphitheatre was a low-rise, and didn’t have the vertigo-inducing upper deck!

As for Hampton opener, BDTNL, I’d say. I doubt we’ll be able to hear anything besides crowd cheers through the first 5 minutes though 🙂

Living in the SE I would love to see some Lakewood, Nashville, Greensboro, Reliegh, New Orelans (for Jazz Fest!) dates come out. Deer Creek, Camden, Alpine, Polaris, would all be incredible venues with great Phish history behind them. But until we all see the official postings from a 100% verifiable source, it all just a guessing game.

As for the opener @ Hampton…this has been a topic of great debate over the past few months. IMHO, I think a classic Phish staple will kick things off…Divided Sky (can’t you hear the opening Trey lick take over the room just after the lights go down!) is my current prediction, although it changes on a daily basis. Slave would be fantastic as would a nice slow Gumbo. A rocking Tube or phunked out 2001 would just blow the roof off & would be hard to keep up with for 3 nights (not that I wouldn’t absolutly love to hear those tunes). Sometime during those 3 nites I’m really looking for a tight Cities, Crosseyed & Painless, or even a Destiny Unbound! We shall see…….

Thanks Mr.Miner for all the info. Keep up the great work!

  8. camman Says:

So how legit is the billboard story? the tour seems a little short but i’m not going to complain if they’re comin got STL. Has anyone also heard a release date for the clifford ball DVD? any other new news today?

  9. camman Says:

does any one have any idea why phish would post dates on their website with a video, and then take it down a couple of hours later?

  10. Julie Says:

Deer Creek is on TicketsNow….at least for now

  11. Mr.Miner Says:

    this CERTAINLY looks legit!
    6/4 Jones Beach
    6/5 Jones Beach
    6/6 Great Woods
    6/7 Camden
    6/9 Asheville
    6/16 St. Louis
    6/18 Burgettstown
    6/19 Deer Creek
    6/20 Alpine Valley
    6/21 Alpine Valley

  12. shpongleyez Says:

Now THAT looks about right! I guess we’re going to have to wait a few more months for the West Coast dates. The anticipation is killing me!

  13. camman Says:

i agree miner. that WILL be the first leg of the tour, but are there other dates and do you know why phish would post it tand then remove it from ther website? obviously the bands isn’t who’s messing with the website, but could someone have jumped the gun on this?

  14. Maybe so, Maybe Not Says:

It’s bordering on ridiculous that TicketNow and these scalping arms for ticketmaster have tickets on sale before dates are announced. It seems like corporate America couldn’t be more out of touch with the fans, or care less. What is surprising that nobody has the will or capabilities to break free of the ticketmaster death grip. Maybe Walmart could sell tickets too. 😉

  15. camman Says:

heres another queestion.. since tickets now is already posting these dates, does that mean that the general public has basically no chance of getting tickets at face value, and that we’re all gonna have to cough up $200 for a ticket to any show?

  16. Pence Says:

This is my new favorite site Minor….I have a good feelin today will be the day. Frickin pumped that Alpine is all but confirmed. OW OW

  17. bhizzle Says:

My guess is that all the venues have sponsors and the sponsors receive tickets to every event at the venue. The some suit gets the tickets and opts to go or not. If not, then scalp them.

  18. Julie Says:

I wouldn’t doubt that, camman. This is just ridiculous and really takes away from the joy of these pending announcements. With all the excitement and anticipation comes worry and doubt that any of us without large bank accounts can get our hands on tickets. It’s such a shame that this happens. But what can be done?

  19. camman Says:

i guess the only thing that can be done would be to jump the fences, but no one wants a repeat of deer creek ’95. this whole ticketmaster bullshit is the only expierence i’ve ever ahd trying to get phish tickets. I’m a senior in high shcool and never had the chance to mail order back in the good days of the early to mid 90’s. I know i’ll get to see them.. its just all this B.S. is a bit dejecting, and is making me less and less sure the more dates i see pop up on tickets now. Phish will in all honeslt paly more then 10 dates next summer, and as miner ahs reported, thats probably just the first leg of their multiple leg tour…

  20. camman Says:

jsut for laughs, heres my first set prediction for the friday night Hampton Show:

Backwards Down The Number Line, You Enjoy Myself, Peaches En Regalia, Fluffhead > The Curtain With, Wilson, Tube, Ghost> Cities, Run Like an Antelope.

  22. bhizzle Says:

camman – i think your first set prediction has too many songs. Either that or they won’t jam the YEM, Ghost > Cities or Antelope.

  23. Mitch Says:

Frankenstein would be a tight opener.

What about nailing the Curtain With. Since it was botched last time they could start with that and it would be like starting where they left off.

  24. Mr.Miner Says:

    something is ABOUT to happen….
