Weekend Nuggets: The Gorge ’97
DOWNLOADS OF THE WEEKEND:
As the upcoming Gorge shows sold out yesterday, this weekend we will travel back in time to the summer of 1997 and Phish’s first visit to the venue. Pulling into central Washington at the beginning of August, Phish was midway through their summer of deep funk and this translated beautifully to the open air beauty of The Gorge. The first night was darker and dancy, wile the second was celebratory and triumphant. After this initial visit, Phish felt right at home at the best venue of the west coast.

@Ben
Check out the Gorge Miner’s Picks from earlier this year for the Sand debut. Don’t know if the whole show is uploaded somewhere though. Enjoy!

I still find it extremely hard to believe that both nights at the Gorge could sell out in less than 10 minutes. *Belch*
Anyone know what the ticket limits are for Hartford today? I was surprised yesterday when I logged onto TM for Merriweather, and you could buy EITHER 2 pavillion seats, OR 4 lawn seats, but that was it. I’ve never seen a show where the max varied on what type of seats you bought. I’d love to have good seats, but I’d rather be able to get a few friends in the show or trade off an extra or two.
I see the vultures moving in….
Was the ring of lights around the scoreboard at Hampton a new addition?
I just had a live nation rep on the phone and was trying to keep her talking to me about Wanda Sykes tickets until she asked me if I was stalling for phish… boo.
the only pleasant ticket experience thus far was getting tickets for knoxville. Tickets Unlimited is extremely well run and people still got tickets up to 8 hours after the tickets went onsale. The venue holds at least 20,000 people.
So there really is no excuse for the gorge shows or any large shed shows being sold on ticketbastard selling out so quickly. It’s obvious ticketmaster/livenation keeps getting hacked and tickets keep ending up in the wrong hands…aka scalpers. And if they are not getting hacked then it’s shady as hell and obvious that they hook up the scalpers.
@MP..
It was just some crazy shit CK did for the shows. There were lights rigged up around the scoreboard, each projecting on to one of the many large (15 feet or so) balloons hanging from the ceilings. When the lights changed colors, the spheres would glow. I hope they do that again for some of the indoor shows this tour, but it may have just been a welcome back thing…I don’t know.
also, it’s easy to notice the lower price for scalped tickets to the knoxville show, where more actual fans got tickets before the scalpers.
WholeTour:
EXACTLY. Makes you wonder if their ticketing system is somehow more “anti-scalper” or “anti-bot”.
Anybody in need of some star lake lawns for face? Not sure when the mail order sends out the tickets so I don’t know when I would be able to get them to you, but just wanted to check here first if anybody was in need
It’ll be interesting to see how fast Chicago sells out…that place holds a few thousand more than Knoxville does.
^if its on ticketbastard/live nation….expect the standard 2 minute sell out time….shady as hell!
okay…how is this possible? selling out in 2 minutes?
WTF.
3 min sellout
HOLY SHIT!!!! I just scored 4 Lawn seats to Hartford through LiveNation online….and it was relatively easy!
not sure, but i was able to score knoxville tickets more than 10 hours after they went onsale. The same demand was there for knoxville, but somehow their system prevented the bad guys from snatching up tickets.
nice grab cottle!
OMG Meadows live nation, logged in 4 tix at noon, put on wait, got kicked out by error message, then reloaded, and at 12:03 sold out! WTF? I planned my whole weekend around this? this sucks. They better play fenway and figure out a way to make tix available!!!!
Thanks man… that was the only time besides the knoxville online that I’ve been able to score anything this tour.
