The First Show of Summer

Keyspan Park - 2004

Keyspan Park - 2004 (MSJ)

The first show of summer- there is nothing quite like it. Staring down the barrel of so many adventures, the tour- and possibilities- seem endless.  Always defined by a palpable energy and anticipation, Phish’s tour kickoff parties are always a blast.  With friends reuniting from across the country and beyond, everyone is always in great spirits and raring to go as soon as they arrive in the chosen city of destination.  This will be the case- plus more- come Sunday in Boston, considering how many people will be seeing their first glimpse of Phish in 2009.  After Hampton’s ticket debacle, many loyal fans were forced to wait it out until this summer to get their first 3.0 fix, and the time has finally come!

7.6.03 - Tech Rehearsal @ Cricket Pavilon (M.Gordon)

Tech Rehearsal @ Cricket Pavilon (M.Gordon)

Fenway will be vibrating with so much collective energy this weekend, awaiting all the new material Phish has to offer, and rocking to updated versions of the classics.  Predicting what they will play, while fun, is ultimately futile. (“Time Turns Elastic,” “Tweezer” to open set II?) But I do predict that almost every single person in the stadium Sunday will have a one-of-a-kind Phish experience that will be as fun as any they’ve ever had.  There is no more time to wait, only time to pack up and travel!  So as you go on your way to Fenway, or whatever your first summer show will be, take the appropriate tunes contained within “Miner’s Picks: Summer Kickoff Party.”  Contained on the compilation are highlights from the first shows of each US summer tour spanning the years of 1995-2004.  The time is now, so enjoy the music and get ready to launch into summertime!

JB1 is still for sale online, everyone is trying to unload them under face. I Live in SF and there are tons of shoreline tix from people on the east coast who never intended on going….have fun eating thoose tix, my guess is lawns will be given away at shorline. Okay, with Phenway around the corner, I’m probably the only one who cares (and it’s possible this has already been posted), but Phish will be making their video game debut on Tuesday: http://kotaku.com/5272693/next-weeks-rock-band-update-a-big-bunch-of-bonnaroo

to notkuroda and ColonelJoy and whoever else: I haven’t had a chance to check this since this AM and couldn’t read all the posts after about page 6, but I’m right with everybody- here’s to creating the new phish experiences, and take nothing for granted, your cool tickets, your vehicles to the shows, kind souls helping each other out even just a little, your health, apple multimedia players, GPSs/maps, pacing yourself on your own terms, the health of the best rock n roll band out there, everything. so many don’t have this opportunity whether they’re ignorant and don’t know, or people in other countries who can’t afford to get to the states, or just the overall less fortunate everywhere. i currently work as a bike messenger in charlotte (yeah we have those here, kinda). I saw a brand new black FJ cruiser at a light with a GD sticker on one side, Moe. on the other and the license plate said GNPHISHN. so I went up to his window and said “you going to asheville?”, he was like uhh umm, caught him off guard, “you going to some shows?” all amped up and shit. he was all clean cut and professional, dressed-up, thumbing his blackberry or something. and he was like “uh yeah” nodding his head. we will rage this shit, with respect and nothing held back. fuck yes. the haters will say “man they suck, but damn they’re good”. i’m really ready to be IN a show. a phish performance.

  10. Pence Says:

Wey that was discussed and the concensous is rock on! This is a day on this site that i wont soon forget. In and out of focus, In and out of focus. I love phish stories.

By that night, news of Palmer’s death had traveled back to the camp. Spirits were low and Colonel Forbin felt devastated. Even though he had only been in Gamehendge for one day, he had already developed a deep hatred for Wilson. He wanted desperately to help the revolutionaries, but without Palmer, it seemed hopeless. He wandered slowly through the camp and passed Errand Wolfe, sitting by the fire with Rutherford, who had returned that afternoon. He walked on and soon found himself outside of Tela’s hut. Forbin knocked and walked in. Tela sat behind a makeshift desk in the center of a room that was littered with small cages containing spotted stripers, a tiny three-legged breed of animal. The unit monster sat in the corner. The colonel took a step toward Tela and spoke. “I needed to come here tonight” he said, “to tell you that I’ve fallen in love with you.” He looked to her eyes for approval but her face remained frozen in an expressionless stare. An awkward blanket of silence fell over the room and hung for
a long moment before being shattered by the sound of the door swinging violently open. It was Rutherford the Brave. The ironclad knight.

Melody, shelter in the darkness, take hold of me now.

  11. Mr.Miner Says:

I am sure I will pass by a bunch of you at fenway tomorrow with out even knowing it.
We are about to embark on something very special…take care of each other.
    Bailey!!!

ps. In the immortal words of David Hasellhof…..

“There is somthing special about Phish Tour, it’s like warm blanket that always seems to hold you just right. then you realize you were sleeping, covered in astroglide and peanut butter.”

That doesn’t even make sense…I’m so stupud.

  13. bitchtits Says:
