Weekend Nuggets: SoCal ’96

phish-pauley-pavillion-96DOWNLOADS OF THE WEEKEND:

Phish concluded Fall ’96 with a famed run down the west coast.  Ending in Las Vegas on December 6th, these two shows came directly before- with a stop in Phoenix in between them.  Both shows illustrate the band’s developing sound, as they finished the tour with far more musical direction than when it began.  Converging in more groove-oriented playing, the transition to funk was underway.  The LA “Tweezer” and San Diego “Mike’s” stand head and shoulders above the rest of their respective shows.  Enjoy the weekend.

    Holy Mackrel
The Piper from Oswego is so hot. Absolute Trey machine gun shredsville. I remember being there and saying how hot that show was compared to the previous five shows I had attended. Great Woods was also smokin that summer tour. Trey was channeling Satan, Mars, and Jimi.

Have mercy was that Oswego show was also a warm welcome.

We all have our own opinons of what is great and what isn’t. I was told the other night that I seems to enjoy the long, meandering songs that melt your face. Is that wrong.

Drinking some nice Auslese right now.

  7. Pencilneck Says:

    JOTD kills. thanx man.

  8. BrandonKayda Says:

Thanks Miner. I just thought it was odd that the seller didn’t have the tickets yet. That worried me. It says they should be here in 2 business days so I’ll be expecting them by around Friday at the latest.

  9. Hunter Says:

Thanks for the advice on Torrents and software everyone. I downloaded ‘Transmission’ for my Mac. I’m downloading two shows off of bt.etree right now. If the conversion and everything works, with my two left thumbs, I’ll be ever so grateful. A guest or two would be cool for Halloween. Anyone catch the ’94 Laguna Seca Daze when Les Claypool came out? Maybe they do a compilation of different artists instead of one album…. as the halloween costume.

  13. Mr.Miner Says:

I’m looking for one SPAC pavilion ticket.

Will pay $$, or trade for shoreline lawn / Gorge

  14. Bapslap Says:

3 more states gone, but Washington came back…

The plot thickens. If they are bringing back states (as suggested before) anything is possible.

On a side note…I’m looking for one Hartford lawn. Anyone?

  15. BillyBreathes Says:

    Is the festival in Washington?

  16. Prince Nabby Says:
