Miner,
You fucking rock. I’ve been reading your blog since “no spoilers” was featured on phish.net before the reunion in March. Great stuff everyday. I’m 32 and have been to about 35 shows since ’94.
Keep up the good work. Someone has to write about this special, unknowable band and I’m glad you’re out there. The links you post are a living testament to Phish, which needs an argument on their behalf even at this late age in their career because they’ve never been a commercial band.
The links here are wrong by the way.
This section of music was certainly the most memorable of a sweet show…definitely ripped my face off from my spot in the pit!! Perfect way to start out Fall ’98…enjoy the time off miner!!
enjoy your time Miner! you deserve it!
thanks to all who checked out the new TSU this weekend. Your comments and ears are much appreciated.
(for those who missed, just click my name)
I love this piece of 98 here that Miner has posted for us today. First time hearing it. Very nice.
This weekends convo got me joneses for a listen of the Island run. This has gotta be like the 100th time i’ve listened to it. so so so good.
Morning Folks!
What, hitting every show of Summer Tour doesn’t count as a vacation?
Just kidding, Miner, enjoy the time off! ๐
rumor re-post from friday: phish to play syracuse war memorial on 11/22. looked to be somewhat credible from the green board. will this be the week to end the waiting?
mr c, i fully support miner’s last word on sl. monkey! (see final post from weekend,or maybe friday). 8)
enjoy miner.
What, catching every Phish show this year wasn’t vacation enough? ๐
I think I’ll call a acoustic Makisupa Policeman 11/1 now.
“Woke up this morning….coffee and donuts…,”
ps…off topic (was there a topic? ๐ ) ….Mitch…if you are on here today…good seeing you Sat nite…you met one a few of the kooks in my world from way back when…crossing em up for MSG etc. see you down the road.
thats probably a decent call Brandon
anybody else think the coffee/donut thing will bring out some Simpsons secret language? No? Just me? Okay then… ๐
@gavinsdad
cool seeing you too on sat. That was a fun party! I’d def like to meet up for the MSG shows. If you’re referring to your friend in the hotel room as the kook, she’s the living version of the mental picture I’ve had for Dr Robert.
Shoot me an email when you can. tickets at facemelt dot net
bummer on the JOTD issues…that segue into Walk Away is seamless.
I have no Walk away, but a LxL.
re: ‘Cuse rumor….awesome, but as said before it’d be alot cooler if it were the BCBS at the War Memorial in Rochester!
2 things…
1) I <3 my new phishthoughts hoodie.
2) I'm having a severe mac-related issue today and I remember someone here knows the skinny on that stuff. If you have a minute, please email me at rblack at greenwaysupply dot net.
Mmmmm….Donuts, Garaaahaaah
Morning everyone. Hope you all had a nice weekend.
I was at the Gordon show on Saturday, and man was it a great night. The Barrymore is a great little venue right outside of downtown Madison. A lot of cool acts stop there each year. The opening act (Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey) was a progressive jazz band and left a lot of energy in the air. This was my first time seeing them and they did a great cover of Happiness is a Warm Gun. Would recommend them to anyone who’s a fan of MMW or modern jazz.
Mike and his band didn’t disappoint. They sounded really tight together and were just having a great time performing. Scott Murawski is really talented, and although I wasn’t a huge fan of his tunes, I enjoyed watching how he interacted with the rest of the band. Mike could have been a bit more prominent (I really wanted to get my face bassed off) but I can’t complain. At one point (maybe during Express Yourself?) he was heavily teasing Sneakin Sally. Would have been awesome if they played that one. We got a ripping Cities in the second set- the crowd just exploded.
The show got out at 1 a.m. after two sets. With an opening band, I didn’t think they would do two. Very pleasant surprise. Overall it was a highly impressive show and I would definitely go see him if you have the chance.
I was walking around the area before the show and saw Mike eating dinner at a nearby restaurant. Didn’t want to bother him but it was a cool sighting.
I also found a place called Sugar Shack Records about 4 or 5 blocks from the venue. Coincidence?
a nice way to start the day – notorious child butt-raper Roman Polanski finally in jail, hollywood twerps and french perverts whining about the injustice of it…beautiful
Funny about this show,
I had a friend that was going to it and the only song she wanted to hear was Walk Away. She asked me if I thought they might play it, I said they havn’t in some time and they don’t play it that often, I highly doubt it. But she kept calling it and sure enough, I ate them words!
great pick
I <3 My new phishthoughts hoodie. I promise to care for it and only wash it inside out.
Anyone good with "coffe got spilled on my macbook" tech support? If so and you have a minute, email me at rblack at greenwaysupply dot net.
“โฆand will tomorrow.”
Will tomorrow what? Happen? Tomorrow never knows…
Anyway, stick a 2- in front of 04-track-04.mp3 to d/l Walk Away instead of Limb.
Gordo shows
