Ghost Stories – An Audio Post

Red Rocks - 7.31 (W.Rogell)

I’ve really been enjoying the audio posts as of late, and after four-hour baseball games, there’s nothing like unwinding with some Phish to the dome as the evening moves on. Sticking with a theme, this time I focused on “Ghost,” a song that has launched jams of all shapes and sizes. “Ghost’s” improv has been diverse and consistent since its debut (see below), but for this mix, I focused more on the groove side of things, speckled with doses of fast-paced psychedelia. Pulling several classics off the shelves I’ve crafted a small musical stanza of “Ghost Stories.” With Halloween around the corner, some spooky tales should serve the season right. With most of us  leaving one week from today – it’s about to be on – Indio awaits!

nice, Mr. C. Gotta tell you, I had a ton of fun at YMSB just this past Friday but your point is well taken about their “place” in the scene. after 2004 I dove pretty heavily into the grassy end of the pool and spent my festival time at places like Greyfox and others where I got exposed to a lot of great music (sometimes more in the late night jam sessions in the campground than on stage!). it even got me enough that I started taking mando lessons about two years ago.

It’s not the type of map that we will receive at the gate. Found at the green board of course.

  3. BTB Says:

Kudos on the setlist. III sets of epic rambling

  4. sumodie Says:

Wow, the net is going nuts with F8 more info/rumors: filming the festie in 3D, and something called the Burble (not saying more on this one).

  5. Mugician Says:

    Hahahah: Yonder Bashing Reprise.

  6. Jon Says:

I can’t believe my bros and I all just bought plane tickets to NYC!!!

  7. GuitarPicker420! Says:

Thanks for map sumodie. Embedded in map are the names of the campgrounds:
    1. David Bowie | Hunky Dory
    2. Genesis | The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway | SBD
    3. Jimi Hendrix | Electric Ladyland
    4. King Crimson | Larks’ Tongues In Aspic
    5. MGMT | Oracular Spectacular
    6. Prince | Purple Rain
    7. Radiohead | Kid A
    8. Rolling Stones | Exile on Main Street

I think, given that list, it will be Jimi or the Stones. But, thats just me.

  8. Mr.Miner Says:

I dont think they could pull of Jimmy…Hendrix is just so Hendrix.

Pretty much has to be the stones I think…

I’m DEF rooting for Prince or Genesis.

I would be rooting for Lark’s Tongue, but its so improbable

  9. Mugician Says:

…Which is why I’m rooting for Lark’s Tongue, and why I think they might do it.

  10. Mugician Says:

Come on Miner. Come on everyone! We’re talking about Phish. These guys are still surprising us and blowing our minds and exceeding our expectations after 26 years. 🙂

Cheers! And here’s to Phillies/Yankees for the series!

  11. Mugician Says:

I think they could too, pull off Lark’s… Such a sick album.

  12. Mr.Miner Says:

i’m down for larks tonuges…hope they do it. I have one friend who has been saying that for a decade, his head will blow and vile will empty immediately

  13. Mr.Miner Says:

I think Exile now may be the too obvious choice out of those 8 -making iut less likely…

  14. Mugician Says:

Man that would be fucking nuts. I hope they don’t make me miss the Halloween set.
