Your Time Is Near, The Mission’s Clear
We are T-minus 36 hours and counting from blast off. I, as I imagine many of you did, spent much of the last two days running around town getting last minute things for the biggest Phish party since the millennium. I have just put the final touches on things, packed the car, and am leaving in the morning. In fact, I’m probably on the road right now; gotta get down to SoCal before the World Series kicks off this evening. The waiting is over – the time is now!
Red Rocks and The Gorge are distant memories, and Phish is ready to put their next foot forward into the rest of their career. Phase one of the 3.0 era has ended, with nothing but continued musical evolution ahead. We are sure to hear new songs off Party Time, a release that has conveniently been pushed back beyond Halloween. And we are sure to catch a glimpse of where we might be headed. While all eyes fixate on Indio, fall tour will pop up soon after Festival 8’s final note. If the first half of this year was about getting their feet on the ground, it is now time again to see how high Phish can soar. It’s off to the races, and where we will wind up, nobody knows. But in the end, it’s all about the ride. Safe travels, folks. See you in Indio!
Let’s do this!

Summer ’95’s finale centered around the colossal “Bowie” in the second set. Jams of this depth were par for the course during a stratospheric summer.

II: Timber Ho! > David Bowie > Johnny B. Goode > David Bowie > AC/DC Bag, The Lizards* > Big Black Furry Creature from Mars, A Day in the Life, Possum, The Squirming Coil

i am starting to get the feeling they might actually be playing MGMT
WOW! They sound sick!! Never heard them jam like that… 🙂 🙂 🙂
They will open with Glide, it has to be…
^ I could see them saving Glide for the Acoustic set
Thanks Hal !
enjoy yourself!
Am downloading the soundcheck now at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=43AOOV59. How’s the Bunny stream, quality alright?
Having serious trouble with sirius on mac!
@ Wax … Not too sure of the quality, but The Bunny was playing some sick tunes today
Sirius will be streaming all weekend.
@stupendous me too!!
Henry; Firefox seemed to get me audio for a brief sec…then it crashed and has been every time i try it again… Safari = nothing: no audio, no display of whats playing….
Loving this opening soundcheck jam! The Megaupload link is indeed a SBD but the quality’s rubbish – can’t wait to hear a less grubby recording. Damn, nice to hear the boys just jamming agenda-free!
Holly shit what Yes song is that? Starship Trooper?
quality isn’t great, but they sound like they are ready to THROW DOWN. What time is the support group meeting tomorrow for those not going?
got sirius working on my iphone… still nothing on the laptop
the iphone app seems to be kinda screwie though…
Oh man, I thought someone said it was downhill after that opening jam – but ‘Undermind’ just smoked.
Suddenly powerfully jealous of those in Indio.
I love the banter too. Something along the lines of “have to wait till Saturday to hear that one.” and “good song! let’s play that”. ok way too into this whole thing right now for someone 3000 miles away.
support meeting indeed!
Less enamored of the second half but that’s fine. Uplifting, joyous soundcheck. I prefer the otherworldly IT soundcheck for working, of course, but tonight’s stuff is nearly on par with the Lemonwheel check (which opens with an intricate multipart 22-minute jam). Awesome. Awesome! Weird to be a part of something 3,000 miles away.
i feel like i have the festival in my pocket : )
amazing how the sirius phone app is waay better than the online interface
highly recommend it if you have iphone
sound checks are for practice……why are we talking about praaaaactissss
what a long but successful day. am camped in electric ladyland ready to crash. was setting up camp during soundcheck. met some great neighbors. the campgrounds are really far apart here. overlook area cool, but of course tonight’s just a warm up.
asked our ticket checker how many tix sold -62,000 as of late this afternoon.guess ticket sales not low afterall. till tomorrow then.
Made it to Palm Springs and my scrofulous little motel. Chilling here listening to the sound check, which sound great. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
Navigating the site at F8 is whacked out. The yellow jackets will not let you go where you need to. You CAN get to the Oasis bit it takes a little work.
All I have is I phone access here. Not sure how much posting will get done
@ Marshall — care to elaborate?
