Returning From The Desert
I just got out of the festival where I was relying on a communal, camp wireless card the entire weekend. Gotta deal with the RV and drive up north tomorrow, and I should be getting back to regular posting by later this week. And boy is there a lot to say! Sunday’s night’s show easily vaulted to the top shelf of 3.0 offerings with a second set chock-full of chunky dance grooves and a whole lot more. We will be looking at Phish’s eighth festival from all sorts of angles…when I get home!
And Mr C:
1) YUP!
2) No
sirius survey
1) Yes
2) no
1.Yes
2.NO
Phish..yup, that Wolfman’s>piper may be my favorite jam of the weekend
@Phish…Yup
I think I read a few pages back some one from here created those Party Time coozies.
1) purchase a subscription to Sirius, at $13 a month? Fuck Yea
2) purchase fewer Phish tickets – Not a chance
3) Purchase fewer LivePhish downloads? Probably. Will still buy the epic ones or the ones I attended.
Mr C.
1. Yes (although it’s not clear to me what equipment I’d need. Outside of the CD player, I listen to NPR on a cheap Sony stereo, so I’m behind the times, tech-wise)
2. No.
Phish…yup…I think those Party Time coozies may have been made by a pt’er if I’m not mistaken….She Divides, maybe?
Mr. C, Honestly, I might not search out tickets and or travel so far to get to a show if the Sirius stream was as good as it was this weekend.
Honestly.
I would buy a subscription.
So I like to make mailings lists. I will make one for all the people planning on going to MSG and I can send email updates for those with email phones so we can do meet ups.
If this sounds interesting let me know and I can whip it together tonight. I’ll be sure to keep it private so we dont all get spammed to death.
1. Yes (used to have sirius but got rid of it when I moved to nyc)
2. No
I would buy Sirius for my home system and for my car (add, what, another $9 for the second subscription) to ensure I could listen if ever on the road. The computer is the 3rd source, of course.
Tell ya what, I’ll make a spreadsheet tonight thats public on google.
Anyone that wants in can fill in their info and I’ll add them to the mailing list.
The reason streaming wouldn’t hurt my attendance is because being there is what its all about – that’s what I love about Phish. Listening to recordings (or streams) is a far, far, far, far, far distance second place for me.
Now, give me a video and light show at my house, a system that goes to 11, and a bunch of crazed dancers around me, and maybe just maybe it would affect my ticket purchases.
1) Yes
2) No. People buy LP sbds? 😉
The Grateful Dead have their own dedicated station on there, yes? Everyone else is relegated to the Jam On? (This id from my hazy memory of the one time I fiddles with my brother’s sattelite radio equipped car.) If Phish had one too? Yeah, I’d probably lobby my wife to get it. I doubt it would work, but I’d try!
Anyone here play disc golf?
Coozies…She Divides Pg 7
@Neemor – my guess is that you are the problem 😮
of course that’s not really what I mean. I’m sure that’s what Phish’s concern would be., though, and understandably. The economics of it would be tricky. Sirius is known for being on the cheap side. They would be rightly concerned about peeps signing up for one month only. Phish would have to make enough $ to come out ahead of any lost revenue. It’s a complex bit of financial algebra and I have no idea if it would really work.
But as a west coaster with very limited travel potential I love the idea.
Mitch, me no have no iPhone, but I can fill it out online, yes?
@Marshall – yeah I think most people are in the same place as you. If I can possibly go to the actual show, I *go*. If not, it’d be nice to have a backup.
@Ocelot, yes that’s right. A friend of mine has a show on there. I’m not supposed to say which one.
@jdub, yes
I stopped getting Sirius about 2 years ago. Jam on is playing the same damn songs it did then. After about 2 months of listening it starts to sound like regular radio with all the repeats.
As an east Coaster, having to worry about travelling really far is not a huge issue except for Summer Tour.
Maybe that’s why it’s not a huge concern.
I remember thinking that if they worked out something with DirecTV to simulcast on channel 101 (which is currently a dedicated station that plays shows from smaller acts-such as Echo and The Bunnymen this past weekend), I would effing love it.
The best of this past weekend’s stream plus visuals….
I may have been playing devil’s advocate a bit, Mr. C. Being honest for myself but more so for others. I probably wouldn’t alter my plan of attack of seeing Phish one way or another…
Anyone here play disc golf?
Yes! Some neat courses here in NorCal. Unfortunately the closest one to me is about 45 minutes away, so I don’t get out as often as I’d like.
Did anyone see the portable disc golf hole at Electric Ladyland?
next time there are Gorge shows, FYI there’s a sweet disk golf course in a beautiful, shady waterside park in Moses Lake – great place to spend the day
Are we talking “Pay per Listen” instead of Pay-per-view???
I’d pay $10 to stream a live PH show, if I couldn’t make it. I might even rather have that then a SBD b/c it’s some what of a participation.
Let me call Don King, be back wicha in a minute
I am an OG Siri subscriber and just hated the service
Very limited catalogs. Bad dj’s.
A few months ago I realized they had charged me the last 3 years for a yearly subscription.
It was on an old credit card and they just kept renewing it without asking.
I did not even know I was paying for it.
This may bring me back, but I really would hate to give those assholes anymore money.
Now that they’ve proven satellite radio is not a viable business option it has just gotten worse
Outside the Phish shows I have no desire to ever listen to their programming.
Really bad
