Glad to hear it, Mr C. I’ll take that as a recommendation (obviously), I don’t know that I’ve ever heard her before. Heard OF her, but not heard her.

  2. Corey Says:

Wow. It’s coming down up here in Beantown.
    Took long enough.
Trey 3:13 “Yeah, man!” Re-living Dayton Tube through the speakers, late night. Great stuff on a snowy night. Start it up again, Trey, start it up again.

    @Mr Completely

    Nina Simone is a bombstress.
    Wife loves her.

  3. Mr. Completely Says:

apparently she has a bunch of crappy music too so I guess be careful?

maybe I got lucky then ’cause these half dozen songs I just grabbed off itunes are fantastic

I have a low threshold for cheesiness when it comes to vocal jazz, there’s very little of it I like, really, so it’s kind of a shock to find this…

now that I said something, the next 10 tunes I try will be terrible, just watch

  4. Mr. Completely Says:

you learn funny things randomly following links in the iTunes store

for instance the classic Joni Mitchell song “Both Sides Now” is the early leader in the new Johnny B. Goode Memorial Bad Cover Version Contest, featuring renditions by not only Leonard Nimoy but also Jim Nabors (ak Gomer Pyle) – only a Shatner short of the trifecta!

    nominations welcome, of course

  5. Mr. Completely Says:

kind of a reverse Pandora station

    except not

  6. Corey Says:

    …something like that.

Vocal jazz? We’re all about Ella over here.
It was all there: The vocabulary, technique, range, ability to evoke every emotion…all there. Always love those blowin’ sessions where Ella’s giving every horn player a run for their money. She kills ’em.
THen there’s the subtle beauty of the Joe Pass stuff. What a team.

  7. neemor Says:

    What a snowstorm.

Out to shovel for the second time!

Don’t forget to dig out the elderly neighbors before they ask…nice way to spread good tidings…

And she might make you cookies for the holidays or crochet you some earmuffs.

And there’s nothing like a set of crocheted ear muffs!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, Moogis is the live streaming technological partner for ABB. I for one hope and pray that Phish goes this route in the near future…this is exactly what we’ve been envisioning and most of us would gladly support. Streaming, multi-camera quality video in real time that can be watched on both the computer and television, from what I gather. My boss did it last year specifically for the Beacon run and absolutely went nuts for it…

  9. sumodie Says:

boo! no snow here in western ma. was hoping for some fresh fluffy w/ my mornin phish.

what’s up all? been a long time since i’ve posted, not that i’ve been much of a regular. i picked the right time to jump back into the comments, though, with the advent of asshole day practice. you guys are hilarious and it is a Joy to read this board. leave it up to phish (and mr. miner) to inspire a community that behaves like this on the internet.

wait, what the fuck am i saying? fuck you pretentious left banker washed-up hippie wannabes.

heh. my hippie speedball consists of hash and packets of terribly sweet nescafe instant coffee. i’ll let you guess where i’m located (hint, other side of the world).

@BK i’m sure you’ve heard this before, but you write very well for someone your age. not that it matters what your age is, but still, very impressive to have the voice you do at 15. i know i didn’t.

wait, what? go back to popping pimples and hooking up with anything that moves, you unwelcome adolescent!

hehe. hope i can share another hippie cyberball with some of you as you rise.

  11. neemor Says:

    Go fuck yourself counter-clockwise.
    Like your toilet water swirls.
Or is that southern v. northern hemisphere?
Who gives a shit, you’re clearly a dickhead.

  12. PBS Says:

Welcome back butterfly! I’m currently brewing Stumptown Hairbender, and have Oregon’s finest loaded up and ready to go.

Soon as the brew’s done, I’ll double back and hit the “hippie cyberball”!

Anyone else ready? Neemor, you done swooning gramma over there?

  13. neemor Says:

Figured you shouldn’t be left out…
Good to hear from you, it’s been a while.
I’m going to guess Amsterdam based on the hash thing.

BK is definitely well spoken and wise beyond his years which is something I think a lot of us (ph)ans have in common…it goes hand-in-hand with the cerebral type of music that we listen to and that this band in particular creates…
It is part of what makes this site and the majority of Phish fans so interesting and enlightening to be engaged in.
It can also breed the sarcastic and venomous wit that can be ridiculously hysterical but with great power comes great responsibility…
Much of the banter on the ‘green board’ for example, can give prospective fans the wrong idea of what it means to be a fan and scare off the next generation of fan for Phish.
This makes the ticket crunch a bit less hectic and can lead to smaller, more intimate venues but can also have other unforeseen consequences.

Anyways, it’s good to have a new crop here to add the fresh perspective which tends to bring into prominence those things that veteran fans can sometimes take for granted and overlook.

BK, Silly, gus come to mind…and there are others that add really interesting and poignant views periodically that brighten things up all around.

    Love it.

  14. neemor Says:

pbs, my elderly neighbor is a war vet who lives alone, so no ear muffs crocheted this morning.
Gave me a nice sense of accomplishment and contentment clearing a path for him to get out of the house if he decides to.

We ended up getting about 2 feet of the white stuff…I needed to help him out.

  15. neemor Says:

Maybe you, too, might think of someone else besides smoking your reefers and diddling yourself to internet pornography.

    Just a thought!

    Sort of.

  16. neemor Says:

Wow, I’m having my own little Asshole Day here in Southern CT.

What’s the weather look like there in the PDX (?), if I might live through you vicariously…

BTW, what is Mr. C like??

  17. PBS Says:

Hell yes. You have to pay it forward. I was merely taking a chance to give you the business. I spend my holiday’s repairing/rebuilding/upgrading PC’s for anyone connected to my local network of friends and family. It’s crazy how much these people charge to work on PCs. Not to mention the cost of software.

Anyway, I think I had a momentary Asshole Day relapse. And, the timing was right to rib you about flirting with granny and missing the cyber hsb…which hasn’t happened yet.

  18. PBS Says:

    the wx is rainy, 40’s.

  19. PBS Says:

pretty standard fare for this time of year. I’d rather have snow. We got 3 feet last year. It was a blast. PDX metro area cannot handle snow. Everything shuts down. Pretty funny.

  20. PBS Says:

    @neemor, re: Mr. C.

Not much you don’t already know. His “in person” personality comes through quite clearly here.

Mr. C is like the rest of us. Very intelligent, quick whitted, knows a lot about a lot of things. He’s my kind of geek. The 80/20 kind. Most people who write code are poor communicators when it comes to dealing with non-geeks. Mr. C belongs to the 20% that can do both. Good Dad. Food snob…the good kind. Shorter than I imagined…No offense Mr. C! Not like I’m tall…

    That’s about it.

  21. butterflyeffect Says:

Neemor, got you on the Amsterdam guess. Maybe I’ll wait for some more guesses before I reveal my location. Or maybe I’ll never tell! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHhEhehehehheheho ho ho ho cough.

    Woah, SOAM’d.

Hehe. In a parallel universe, the Black and Green Boards are one. Terrifying thought, eh? Sorry to scare you like that. Inhale, exhale.

Also spinning 12.11.97 to join in the fun. Definite BBFCFM>Ghost synapsefuck. Elite Phish.

Why don’t we try and coordinate the next CHS (cyber[punk] hippie speedball)? Say, 9 AM board time?

Thought I was going to get something done next week, but of course a friend of a friend is opening a series of clubs in a city nearby tomorrow, and we drink for free. Don’t you wish books wrote themselves sometimes?

  22. PBS Says:

    Board time = Pacific Time?

  23. neemor Says:

Thanks for that, I hope he doesn’t mind…it’s just that I’m very curious as to the actual reality base of the personalities on this board.
For me, it was extremely interesting and cool to meet the people we did, put faces to names and get a feel for how people carry themselves in real world situations.
It really rounds out the perceptions developed here.
And Mr. C (among many, many others) is one of those guys that I’m extremely curious about in that respect.
I met you, you met him…sort of a six-degrees of Kevin Bacon thing, with you being Kevin Bacon…or maybe him being Kevin Bacon…or maybe….
    You get what I’m saying.

Yes, the snow outside is absolutely beautiful. Be jealous.

  24. neemor Says:

    I thought board time=Mountain time….no?
I was sick that day in school, I think.
    It’s 10:09 here in the East…

Unfortunately, I am ill-equipped for a speedball this a.m., no herbage.
    I’m so ashamed.

  25. butterflyeffect Says:

    Be very, very ashamed.
