Miner’s Picks – Fall ’09

Madison Square Garden (Brian Ferguson)

As we turn the page from Fall Tour and begin to look towards Miami, I have compiled the latest installment in the Miner’s Picks series – “Fall ’09.” This time around, you’ll find some repeats throughout the eight-hour highlight reel due to Phish’s proclivity for using similar vehicles throughout the run. The band chose their weapons forΒ  this tour and slayed them each time out, playing some of the most engaging jams from similar launchpads. Providing a legitimate summary of the past tour, “Miner’s Picks: Fall ’09” arrives just in time for the holidays to spice up any dinner or cocktail party. Enjoy the psychedelia with your holiday cheer, and get ready for a Miami New Year!

@ Flarr….I might have that source at home…when I get back from work tonite I will look and see and let you know.

  2. albert walker Says:

I meant hard to break up by hand
    easy to grind
    sorry

  3. Mr.Miner Says:

congrats AW! Classic! All the best πŸ™‚

  4. Mr.Miner Says:

    grinder = crucial IMO

  5. albert walker Says:

    funny Miner

we had that grinder conversation the other day

I’ll have to send you one C for a Christmas present

  6. Weekapaug Says:

actually, you have to delete the word ‘details’ out of the url and replace with download.

  7. Mr. Completely Says:

I’m just so used to smoking big chunks of nug, kind of peeling them open…

but I guess I need to get with the times…you kids and your modern technology, when I was your age we just had to throw buds on the campfire and try to inhale the smoke…

  8. albert walker Says:

    C

    I just got converted recently
    I’m like you
its the kind of thing though that when you do you are like
where have you been all my life

I break up packed pipes, bongs and one hitters also though
I don’t like the way dense headies puff

I fought it for too long
breakin up by hand is hard, hard work

  9. albert walker Says:

I don’t quite roll with one on tour like some kids
    fly with one

I do feel like I’m missing something when I’m away from home at shows without it

    rollin in the hotel
    fingers stuck together
    where are you!

  10. Weekapaug Says:

“hard hard work” ? What kind of herb are you smoking? brick weed?

  11. albert walker Says:

not since I was 12 man
    nice try though

sticky herbs when pre show rollin a quap in one 10 minute sitting

if you don’t call that hard work you’ve never done it

its the sticky factor my friend

  12. Mr. Completely Says:

yeah you can lose a finger tryin’ to do the speed twist with the sticky stick

see, that’s what rolling out of the bottom of the jar does – the little chunks and shake down there have always dried out by the time I get around to rolling – if I know shows are coming up, I’ll let that supply build up so I can swing weight when the time comes…

brought about 45-50 to the 2 nights of the Gorge, from stealth pinners to pinky width fatties

  13. albert walker Says:

that drier crumbs do dust pretty easily

ours at the crib is about 3 in across and pretty deep
    holds about a slice
with the magnetic top I just chill it
fill it up, forget about it

    just adds a nice convenience
I guess it does just take 3 seconds instead of 20 minutes
nice if someone comes by and you want to twist quick
probably not necesary to exist as a human
but kind of slick little deal

  14. albert walker Says:

    I meant 2 minutes

20 minutes would be some damn sticky shit

  15. Mitch Says:

    Congrats AW. well played sir.

  16. Mitch Says:

first phish thoughts engagement. mr c’s braphecy is coming true

  17. Elihu Says:

Happy solstice folks – the light is growing brighter now…

  18. oldskool Says:

Make sure you go with the titanium grinder! the metals ones are no good as they can discharge tiny shards of metal into the green. And those little shards of metal can lead to Alzheimer’s. I know it may be a little paranoid to feel that way, but studies do exist. Space Case titanium is the way to go πŸ™‚

  19. Mr. Completely Says:

    word y’all

I will probably check out one of those things, after all, I like gadgets, I like weed, what’s not to like?

  20. beepaphone Says:

Congrats AW!!! As a fellow recently engaged Phan, I wish you the best. I have found that since my engagement, it’s a relief to be satisfied knowing i’ll be with one woman and not having to worry about the hostess’ nice breasts, etc.

Best wishes to the both of you, and hope to catch you on tour eventually for a shared J.

  21. Mr.Miner Says:

lol…bring new grinder on every trip…basically if you get the ones with the straight pegs rather than the sharp edges, it will grind to ideal joint rolling weed in 2 twists.

It also revolutionizes bong hit- I believe the scientific principle is “Large Surface Area” meanig you are burning “more” of the herb. It also pulls more evenly resulting in a milkier hit. I sometimes prefer the finer grind for the bong hit, gotten from the sharp pegs. Basically C, I don’t understand how you don’t have a grinder?!

Pre-grinder days we just rolled with scissors and cut it up real fine for the bongs….

    puff much?

  22. whole tour! Says:

I will be inside the AA arena at this time next week….who’s feeing it?

    WHO’S FEELING IT?

    πŸ™‚

  23. Mr. Completely Says:

I guess I come from the potlatch school of weed smoking…just from being in the business when young, and then living around growers and such…the attitude is maybe a little wasteful but there’s kind of an idea that you just pull straight from the nug, peel it open so the fire gets into the center of the hit, and don’t worry if you don’t burn all of it…

I guess it comes from growing up east coast, having shortages, smoking ditchweed and brickweed, you know, then moving out here and basically never having to worry about it again…I have developed kind of a wasteful attitude I suppose…I just really enjoy not having to worry about maximizing every gram so I am careless about it…

there’s a sort of show-off aspect to the wastefulness of it, and also to the art of plucking exactly the right chunk for a bong hit off the nug, calibrated to each person’s lung power etc…

I guess what I am saying is that there’s no good reason not to have one, and I am just lazy and slow to change when it seems like things are OK as is

  24. beepaphone Says:

I’ve never owned a grinder either, but understand the perks. I like to challenge myself to be a human grinder, which, while inefficient, has its payoffs (beautiful and pricelessly sticky fingertips).

Miner’s description gives me chills just reading it…the power bong hit. As I admitted on asshole day, I am actually a pussy. I can only handle the moderate bong hit. Been practicing though, so watch out.

  25. Mr. Completely Says:

    but you have convinced me

I’m down with the grinder scene

I will check them out – titanium it is
