Miner’s Picks – Fall ’09

Madison Square Garden (Brian Ferguson)

As we turn the page from Fall Tour and begin to look towards Miami, I have compiled the latest installment in the Miner’s Picks series – “Fall ’09.” This time around, you’ll find some repeats throughout the eight-hour highlight reel due to Phish’s proclivity for using similar vehicles throughout the run. The band chose their weapons for  this tour and slayed them each time out, playing some of the most engaging jams from similar launchpads. Providing a legitimate summary of the past tour, “Miner’s Picks: Fall ’09” arrives just in time for the holidays to spice up any dinner or cocktail party. Enjoy the psychedelia with your holiday cheer, and get ready for a Miami New Year!

yea, but on our last trip they took my buddies jar out of his carry on,

set it on the table, he says: “here is my script” and reaches to his back

pocket to grab it. TSA says: “thats ok , this is not what we are looking

for” and he proceeds to double inspect his 2 year olds formula.

  2. lot rat Says:

  3. butter Says:

“when I was your age we just had to throw buds on the campfire and try to inhale the smoke…”

love the back in my day comment @Mr. C

  4. Little Buddy Says:

Just catching up on today’s posts. Got a few pages back and saw the big news…

Congrats, AW!!! What a way to pull the trigger. Classic! Now you really have something to celebrate in Miami. What a great time that will be.

I wish you all the best, man!

Does anyone fly with trees anymore? I’ve done it a few times in recent years and I have a decent method, but I’m wondering what method others might use. My method is to grind, triple bag, and cram into the back of an unfolded Tom’s Toothpaste container (which is an old school aluminum toothpaste container). It pushes the toothpaste out the tube and just looks like toothpaste. Pack it with toiletries in the checked baggage. Any suggestions?

  5. butter Says:

That was a great way, until ya just gave it up like that 😉

  6. BrandonKayda Says:

I’m pretty sure Trey is teasing Scarlet Begonias in the Detroit 46 Days from about 6:45-8min

    Check it out

  7. Lycanthropist Says:

  8. neemor Says:

    @Elihu

“Happy solstice folks – the light is growing brighter now…”

    Well done!

  9. Mitch Says:

bk, never-mind the overtones, listen to the music. dont worry about preconceptions. expect nothing. there are awesome jams from that era. all over the place.. surrender to the flow.

  10. BrandonKayda Says:

    Hey Lycan

Have a great show man! TSU always seems to bring it, I’m sure you guys will deliver tonight!

  11. beepaphone Says:

Only packed on a plane once…compressed, stuffed into a jar of petroleum jelly with a coupla pubes on top for good measure to induce puke factor in case things got hairy

  12. Corey (weewayne) Says:

Just wanted to say the 46 days from 11/18 is from the 1st set.
Your picks from the fall look sweet!

    later,

  13. neemor Says:

Currently spinning a ‘No Spoilers’ 4.3.98 and catching up with afternoon posts…

    Mike’s Song opener:
The loop (yup…that ’98 loop-you know the one!) that Trey kicks off the jam with es every bit glorious and foreshadowing the funk to come.

What a remarkable year it was….

  14. beepaphone Says:

1998 Europe is must listen material…do it now…
    7/2/98 changed my life

  15. neemor Says:

9:40 mark on it the Mike’s Island Jam….absolutely dark.
    Pitch black.
Highlighted markedly with red lights and tons of smoke…probably as much smoke as you’re ever going to see in an arena….
    I can see it now.

  16. BrandonKayda Says:

Neemor – Check the 4.3.98 Weekapaug – Crosseyed/Mozambique teases, funky as all hell

I am checking out Miner’s Summer leg II highlights, holy shit what a great batch of shows that was. Hopefully next Summer Tour is even better

  17. neemor Says:

That’s what I’m on right now, BK.

  18. BrandonKayda Says:

Listening to the RR Tweezer from Summer right now, gotta see what all the hype is about.

  19. BrandonKayda Says:

Damn, right out of the gate they drop the Tweezer theme and go into laid-back funk territory.

2009 has been a great year…look at all of these highlights

  20. Mr. Palmer Says:

RR or Gorge- i get to pick one next summer. never been to either. Which way do i go?

  21. neemor Says:

It’s funny, I’ve been coming to this site for quite a while now, and what first attracted me to the site was the fact that ‘No Spoilers’ was going to be running downloads of shows almost immediately after the upcoming shows (presumably the Hampton shows, I can’t quite recall).

And up until this point, sitting here in my living room, in an empty house, wrapping gifts to adorn my families’ Christmas trees, I haven’t really grasped what a cool feature ‘No Spoilers’ has presented to me.

I’ve used the feature after many of the shows since that point, but right now, inspired by the ‘hippie speedball’ I’ve just partaken in, and spinning the 4.3.98 bohemith, it finally is coming into it’s full potential.

I have no idea what lurks around the next corner…what surprises lay in wait. It’s almost exactly like being there!
My senses being heightened as they are I’m sure has a lot to with the experience, but that’s alright by me…the excitement is still most certainly there!

    This is fun.
And Thank you, Miner for opening me up to something really different and cool.

  22. neemor Says:

Palmer, all the pt’ers I met at the before MSG said imperatively that I need to do Gorge next year…I’m going to do my best to make that happen!

  23. neemor Says:

    the bar before MSG, sorry

  24. neemor Says:

    This Weekapaug is readicculus.

  25. chefbradford Says:

    “in case things get hairy”

    har, har, har…

    🙂
