Miner’s Picks – Fall ’09

Madison Square Garden (Brian Ferguson)

As we turn the page from Fall Tour and begin to look towards Miami, I have compiled the latest installment in the Miner’s Picks series – “Fall ’09.” This time around, you’ll find some repeats throughout the eight-hour highlight reel due to Phish’s proclivity for using similar vehicles throughout the run. The band chose their weapons for  this tour and slayed them each time out, playing some of the most engaging jams from similar launchpads. Providing a legitimate summary of the past tour, “Miner’s Picks: Fall ’09” arrives just in time for the holidays to spice up any dinner or cocktail party. Enjoy the psychedelia with your holiday cheer, and get ready for a Miami New Year!

    What’s a Phish?

  2. ohhphee Says:

    long live pong!

  3. butter Says:

i think some of the tracks off of Party Time are for depressed suicidal teens

  4. BrandonKayda Says:

    Well said Ohhphee

  5. Leo Weaver Says:

yeah ohhphee, you weren’t around here for the F8 stream, were you? It was a lot of fun…a great experience for those of us who couldn’t attend. And I’d welcome the opportunity to do it again. Sometimes it’s great to be a dork 😉

    @butter…yeah, and gus is page

  6. ohhphee Says:

Is that their idea of a party these days?

  7. ohhphee Says:

    Sounds great!

  8. BrandonKayda Says:

As for the “BK=Trey” comment, I think that is about right. I can shred Smoke on the Water on one string sooo nicely.

  9. butter Says:

i don’t know, but i would love to know how the band decided which songs were for “Joy” and which ones were for “Party Time”

  10. ohhphee Says:

    @BK

You had the Red rant going back there. Keep up the good work!

  11. BrandonKayda Says:

    Yeah, pretty much.

You see, first we spend a couple hours listening to My Chemical Romance, because guys in eyeliner help us forget about the horrid things we go through in life (Math tests, for example). Then we go to K-Mart and buy the ropes to hang ourselfs, but not without buying a nice, expensive pair of ripped jeans first. Nobody wants to die without looking in style, do they?

  12. ohhphee Says:

You got that right! Well, you seem to be off to a good start, so just keep keeping it real.

  13. ohhphee Says:

Well, thanks for letting me hop in for a bit. Goodnight to anyone still here.

  14. BrandonKayda Says:

    Night’ OhhPhee

  16. Mr. Completely Says:

@BK if you are still here:

popular music has basically always sucked that much ass.

actually I would say it gives ass sucking a bad name.

every generation has a slightly different variation on the same bullshit

it’s always the relatively rare few who gather round the fire out in the wilderness far away from the mainstream

the interesting thing is, after several generations a fair number of us have accumulated, even with all the dropouts, burnouts and copouts, and now the good old internets are making it possible for us to find each other.

I really do love living in the future. You all got your jetpacks, right?

…oh. was I not supposed to say anything yet? um…nevermind

  17. BrandonKayda Says:

    Hah, I agree Completely.

I just never caught onto any of the bullshit. I mean, this generation alone has produced very, VERY shitty mainstream music.

I just can’t understand how people can listen to it. Most of the mainstream music (most, hah) nowadays is completely terrible. Auto-tuned, cropped, fake, bullshit. Goes nice with a cell phone.

I am really hoping that more people my age find the good music that’s there but I am really losing hope for that. It seems for every intelligent person I meet there are two under-educated, egotistical douchebags to screw up the ratio.

Anyways, I’ll get off the soapbox. Thanks for sticking around, Completely

  18. Lycanthropist Says:

  19. BrandonKayda Says:

Sounds fun Lycan, fill me in on the details later.

    Glad you’re having fun

  20. voopa Says:

No jetpack here yet, but Hoversquirrel’s schedule is not delayed.

  21. butter Says:

  23. Corey Says:

It’s late at night, I’m way too spent, and this Cincinnati version of Gotta Jibboo is killin’. That’s all I’m saying. Just as good as when I was in the building one month ago. That’s all.

  24. Robear Says:

That ‘Carini > Wolfmans’ was nasty. Maybe my biggest, WTF just happened moment at a show.

  25. empire Says:

a day behind but dam that carini>wolfmans is fucking out of hand. I love me some dark phish and this is a perfect example..thanks Mr. Miner for pointing this out and leading me back into 1998. I’m dl the set as I type.
