Miner’s Picks – Fall ’09

Madison Square Garden (Brian Ferguson)

As we turn the page from Fall Tour and begin to look towards Miami, I have compiled the latest installment in the Miner’s Picks series – “Fall ’09.” This time around, you’ll find some repeats throughout the eight-hour highlight reel due to Phish’s proclivity for using similar vehicles throughout the run. The band chose their weapons for  this tour and slayed them each time out, playing some of the most engaging jams from similar launchpads. Providing a legitimate summary of the past tour, “Miner’s Picks: Fall ’09” arrives just in time for the holidays to spice up any dinner or cocktail party. Enjoy the psychedelia with your holiday cheer, and get ready for a Miami New Year!

    I’m Ron Burgundy?

  2. beepaphone Says:

Wow…cuban necktie….shit Miner thats like some crazy war shit. I don’t want to even think of what that would be like on L. Had my dose of mortality on the drive back from the Chicago show, but I was at least sober….sheesh.

  3. kenny powers Says:

Baxter, you know I don’t speak Spanish.

  4. jay Says:

big big big fan of Joy. Brought me to tears at the end of RR2 – Drowned -> Crosseyed and Painless

  5. flarrdogg Says:

AW- agreed the Creek version of Let Me Lie is my favorite and that the placement was perfect- coming off the HUGE ASIHTOS>Drowned>Twist- and before the madness of the second half of that set.

  6. flarrdogg Says:

Milk was probably a bad idea.

  7. albert walker Says:

    Huge ASHITOS

    come on boys!
If all you crazies are right and they read this blog

    then read fucking this.

drop a huge sick, nasty ASHITOS down by the ocean

  8. Chuck D Says:

Bark twice if you’re in Milwalkee…

  9. jay Says:

I hope that she has reconciled that day with herself

She has not. She is a real nervous driver and the absolute worst passenger in a car. I always let her drive as her reaction to my driving pisses me off and distracts me.

  10. HarryHood Says:

Since I can’t go, I’m hoping that they play TTE every night in Miami and then a TTE Reprise for the encore on the 31st/1st. Sorry guys, but it would make me feel much better about not being there! lol

  11. Mr. Palmer Says:

Re: Miami ’03- after listen to most of it last 48 hours. 12.28 set II and 12.29 Set II are my favorite and will remain in the rotation for some time to come. Jibboo> suzy> theme is my favorite segment of the run.

  12. jay Says:

this Tweezer from the 28th ’03 is freaking amazing!

  13. flarrdogg Says:

    TTEPRISE

  14. cal Says:

I had to relisten to the MSG “First Tube”. The crowd is part of the band at that point. Even on tape, I swear it feels like the climax of the whole tour. Just amazing.

  15. Mr.Miner Says:

“I always let her drive as her reaction to my driving pisses me off and distracts me.”

^ I do the same to minimize arguments 🙂

  16. Mr.Miner Says:

    agreed with Jibboo > Suzy > Theme….

but Stash is the single best thing from miami 03

  17. HarryHood Says:

Whoa Compadre! If you wanna throw down in fistacuffs, fine. I’ve got Jack Johnson and Tom O’Leary here waiting for ya!

  18. HarryHood Says:

    I heart 12/4 First Tube

  19. BTB Says:

two thousand zero zero party over
    Oops out of time

So tonight I’m gonna party like it’s 1999!!!!!!!!

Which means a performance of TTE each night

  20. jay Says:

wish I was there for 12/4 first tube It it what I chase. It is what I live for. The energy there feels like it could have physically lifted you off your feet.

  21. HarryHood Says:

I’d been driving through the middle of the Adirondacks during a crazy snowstorm on my way to Syracuse with my girl a few years back. At one point she was annoying me so bad with her passenger seat driving that I pulled over and told her to drive. She proceeded to drive about 500 feet up the road and then right off the road. I took back over the pilots seat and never heard another peep.

  22. HarryHood Says:

    Jay,

There was some spontaneous levitation. Nobody is going to tell me otherwise!

  23. gratefulcub Says:

    Neemor, re: Secret Smile

My bad. I thought it was an obvious joke, and a comment on 2003 for me. Great show. High points galore. Let’s bring the house down with……Secret Smile???

  24. sumodie Says:

most perfect ballad all year, for me, was billy breathes @ red rocks

    ***
just listened to msg’s light again. i think its my fav jam all tour, including alb’s 7 below>ghost. it feels more creatively juicy fresh to my ears. and i do love 7 below>ghost too, but thats more like a crazy road trip thru peaks & valleys not wholly unfamilar to me. ill take more of both please!
