  1. Mr. Completely Says:

I can’t decide “best” for Neil albums…over the last 10 yeas I have probably listened to On The Beach and Everybody Knows about equally I guess

I think in some abstract way, On the Beach is the more “artistic” album…”better”…but I remember Everybody Knows from when I was a kid and so it just naturally finds its way back into rotation.

Can’t go wrong with any of those top few NY albums.

  2. Mr. Completely Says:

I was very confused b y On the Beach at first

I thought it was based directly on the book and/or movie

    there’s a thematic connection, but it’s not a 1:1 thing at all

  3. Lycanthropist Says:

i havent heard On the Beach

  4. Mr. Completely Says:

i got to be the xmas hero this year, not just for the kid but also wife…got her what she wanted above all…Guitar Hero Van Halen, and the unedited theatrical release versions of the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD…that’s right, Han shot first, beyotch!

    big score

  5. Lycanthropist Says:

ok gonna start filling up off the archive.

    any suggestions

looking for some good 95, good 97 and stellar 99s

  6. Lycanthropist Says:

    wow.. no suggestions?

    where’d everybody go?

  7. Mr. Completely Says:

i second lycan’s request for recommendations – same years – something I (who collecting-wise is still bobbing on the surface) may not have heard…? for the new ipod

  8. Mr. Completely Says:

    hahaha come on, phish nerds!

    some nasty ’95 jams!

  9. Lycanthropist Says:

    ha well Mr. C

may I suggest the Deer Creek 97 run and the Lakewood 00 run.

not sure if you have heard these before, but they are some of my favorites for sure.

  10. Lycanthropist Says:

95 i have heard more this year, but still relatively in the dark about particular shows, because i had limited hard drive space to get them… so i just worked of the Miners Pick 95.

I would love to know of some all time favs from that year. And hell last week there were 95 dates bein thrown all over the place. Maybe I should just go back there and check. Feeling a bit Christmas Turkey lazy though.

  11. Lycanthropist Says:

and of course the Hampton 97 shows as well… ones that i am currently grabbing right now

  12. Robear Says:

    tryout 10/27/95 from Phishows.com, if you haven’t.

  13. Robear Says:

    whole new year’s run, ’95
    Halloween ’95
    Red Rocks 6/9 6/10/95 ‘Mike’s Groove’
    6/19 and 6/20/95 (19th is a personal favorite ‘Reba’)

  14. albert walker Says:

    97

    Ventura and both Gorge shows
been spinning this west coast run lately

    great stuff at both

  15. Lycanthropist Says:

    thanks guys..

    DL’ing now

  16. ThePigSong Says:

Merry Christmas to all on this board! Ya’ll are real stand-up folks, thanks for all the good reads over this last year.

  17. chefbradford Says:

And Mom delivers…Joy Box it is! I knew it was a beast, but I didn’t realize how beautiful it would be. Phish has always done killer packaging, but this takes the cake. Joy, indeed

Here’s hoping I get that external hard drive next week for the birthday

    Jealous of Lycan 😉

  18. stitchstash Says:

    Merry Christmas Miner and phriends!

We didn’t exchange gifts this year so I would like to share my top three Christmas moments with all of you.

    1. Watching my kids play the wii that their unlce got for them.

    2. Watching my mother-n-law groove to selector j’s Irie Christmas music.

    3. Taking a picture of my grandmother drinking Guiness at 3:30 in the morning in her bathrobe and slippers. (My family in Illinois went on a pub crawl after our family Christmas party. The bars close at 2:00 so everyone went back to gram’s to drink the rest of the beer she had at the house. She figured since we woke her up she might as well join in the fun. My grandma parties harder than I do. I love it!)

  19. chefbradford Says:

    Nice, stitch

  20. stitchstash Says:

I’m glad you got your box o’ joy chef. I still haven’t finished the DVD yet. Maybe tonight will be the night.

  21. c0wfunk Says:

    95:

6-16-95 for the runaway > free and the yem w/ boyd tinsley
    6-22-95 the “fleezer” w/ a 40 minute tweezer
    6-26-95 dw/d >free
10-14-95 yem w/ mmw (warning very abstract)
11-11-95 fox theatre for the sheer energy of the whole show and a first set mike’s
    11-14-95 stash >manteca >stash > dog faced boy > stash
11-22-95 aborted rift into amazing free
11-30-95 great tweezer and better hood

can’t go wrong w/ the december tour, it’s all fantastic but my favs:
    12-9-95 – w/ beavis and butthead madness
12-14-95 – if you don’t know this one, run, don’t walk to the curtain>tweezer>timber>tweezer>keyboard army, halleys>nicu>slave second set

    I’ll drop some 97s and 99s in a bit..

  22. Leo Weaver Says:

OK, I’ll play…just gonna throw a few random ones out there, all southern cookin’…enjoy!

    1995
11.9-11: Atlanta Fox Run (had a ticket offer to these, but turned them down…what a dumbass)
    11.12: Gainesville, FL
    11.18: N. Charleston, SC
    11.19: Charlotte, NC
    11.21: Winston-Salem, NC

    1999
    7.3-4: Atlanta
7.7: Charlotte (DT on Possum, Funky Bitch encore)
9.26: NOLA (Michael Ray and Tim Green for arguably the best CTB IMO)
9.28: Oak Mtn, Pelham, AL (great all-around show)
    12.16: Raleigh, NC

And for one more, but from 1998, try 11.18 Greenville SC.

  23. c0wfunk Says:

@leo funny how little overlap there. mmmm 95 phish 🙂

  24. c0wfunk Says:

also the 5/16/95 voter’s choice benefit is worth hearing for historical reasons..

first Ha Ha Ha, Spock’s Brain, Strange Design, Theme From the Bottom, Free, and Glide II, Don’t You Wanna Go, Lonesome Cowboy Bill, I’ll Come Running, and Gloria

  25. halcyon Says:

Heading out to dinner in a few….going to spin some selector j’s xmas tunes for the ride in addition to The Avett Brothers.

Thanks Selector J & Weekapaug for the tunes!

    Have a great night everybody!
