yeah @aw…one big thing is that PDX is very poorly connected airline wise…we’re not hooked to all of the big hubs…so a city with direct flights from PDX is going to be a little hard to find, but Chitown is on that list…ATL…NYC…Denver and of course the west coast options…
hey when do you leave for Florida?
not pissy at all, family 1st
i got a 6:40 am out of SFO monday morn
also with the ticket demand the way it is, I have total confidence I could just grab a plane ticket and worry about show tix later…that makes it much much easier to just wing it.
not til Monday morning
are dog is a pain in the ass and has epilepsy so we can’t really leave him boarded anywhere
my girl’s dad will watch him for 4 days but the 85 lb pit is more than he really needs to deal with
now that the snow has hit I’ve been wondering all day why we did not leave this morning as soon as the holiday nonsense was done
plus we’d have to bring a bunch more green
kind of hard as it is
anyway looking forward
got nothing to do but pack all day tomorrow
it would be great if they went smaller for a run here in Chicago
like the Chicago Theater but the UIC pavillion always worked well as the smaller Hampton style basketball arena
can’t hold out too long
lot of fans around here
they all had to drive out to cinci for their closest fall show
yea the lack of tix crunch is really awesome
friends got 20 dollar weds, thurs MSG
Friday was a different story
all the cocky kids that paid 10 bucks all fall tour
and were braggin about their super cheap finds
were panicking hard on Friday
hundreds lookin, very few holdn
Friday night MSG being one of the exception
i think ticket sales are still high enough
for us not to worry about not enough demand
some have suggested this ticket situation will
lead to less shows, but i beg to differ with this take
As Miner wrote earlier this month they seem to be clearly playing
for the love of the game.
yea AW, when i say small, i mean Hampton, UIC small
not Chicago Theatre as awesome as it would be
the Fox in St. Louis this summer was just to much of an insane
ticket crunch for the health of Phish tour to prosper
Does anybody see another Albany II – “big jams” show happening in Miami?
yeah I think no way less shows per tour, not for that reason anyway
they’re doing it like they want to do it…if anything they’ll just adjust venues
I wouldn’t wait to score tickets the day of, though, not when travelling…I just feel like it won’t be an issue to pick them up, whether off this board or otherwise

I would believe Miami will have a more open energy in general much like teh 4 night run at RR
they tend to play more relaxed and enjoy themselves when they are grounded in one place for a nice extended run
I do think there will be one 2nd set of that wide open style of Albany and not just cuz I got some skin in the game by attending the shows
I really hear a confidence that is just starting to shine through by the end of that east coast fall
I think they are just finding themselves and are looking forward to blowing some minds out in Miami
Phish tend to be unpredictable so maybe this 4 night run will shock us all in that old school Phish style
Brandon, you bet is as good as ours: the over/under on # of sets with sustained open jamming over the 8 holiday sets is a tricky 2.5 – based on Fall patterns you’d think the under is an easy call, but I like the more hopeful over, based on a sneaky feeling and Phish’s history of shaking up expectations right when they settle in…
Probably not first night though
Hm and prob not actual NYE either
maybe take the under,then
play it tight, play it well
and just bring it
with the amount of material we’ve seen this fall there is the potential for some very creative setlists if they put forth the effort
no crosseyed, Miami Sand
return of TSIHTOS
huge fatty Waves
endless possibilities
I remember the big 18min Stash set I 7/30 RR that surprised a lot of people. I think they will do something like that. Maybe a nice, lengthy Miami Gin
They are playing with so much energy and joy right now it seems like anything is possible. Honestly Red Rocks was probably the best 4-night run all year IMO.
Look at the highlights:
7.30 Stash/Ghost->Wolfman’s
7/31 Drowned->Crosseyed/Tweezer->Backwards->Fluffhead->Piper->ADITL
8.1 Curtain With, Mound, Rock and Roll->Disease
8.2 BOOGIE ON (17min monster “Oye Como Va” jam)/YEM/Waves->Seven Below->2001
I think Miami will be the accumilation of everything in 2009, and then some. I know that is cliche, but they just seem so happy to be playing that they will most definitely end the year with a bang
the first Phish what the fuck set of 2009
in the style of the Bomb Factory or Roxy 2/20/93 with mad segues and tons of teases in odd keys
sounds like too much to ask for
but just when you think you know what they are going to bring
they tend to shock all of us
I figured we got that in Hartford but I see what you’re saying AW
yeah, kind of not quite there
I think the east coast playing kind of fall flat
for me there is a fall off after RR and the Gorge
although people love that Hartford show not some of the best playing
I think the playing has come so far since then they can now give a surprise setlist the proper treatment
I mean that psycho killer hurt it was so bad
how much are the monday and tuesday shows will go for in lot? I’m thinking 20-30 $ish … those are the tix I don’t have, not too worried about not getting in but just wondering what to expect.
I’m thinking the first 3 should be free to $10
there were free tix on the ground all over in 2003
fall tour has been pretty free to cheap also
a lot of locals and everyone from lot will want to get in on the 31st
I’d say 31st will be $40-$60
so hard to tell though
I’m trying to get rid of tix at $30 right now in Chicago
psycho killer might night stand up on tape
but it was really fun LIVE and that set was super Phishy
Summer 2010 is going to be nuts.
Hartford was a good show, not the best, but it was definitely a deviation from what we were expecting.
Miami will be stellar though, that’s all I know. Sure, maybe not as many open jams a-la 03 Miami run but I honestly prefer 2009 to the 2.0 era anyways. Way too much darkness in that era. NYE 2009 is sure to be a winner, I think Light will get a wide-open jam 12-29/12-30. Ever since even Fenway I have felt good about that tune, very Piper-like. You think Backwards will get another jam a-la Chicago/SPAC? I hope so
I get chills watching the MSG First Tube, Trey is going ape-shit and jumping all around the whole time
just got the 10/31/96 show finally! been waiting for those itunes gift cards to roll in so I could pick up some livephish. this ‘remain in light’ set is soo fucking good! i knew it would be good, but damn, really good vocal harmonies, percussive grooves, just very tight. blown away
The fist 2 should be like AW says, free<10$, no 30$ about it
20 if you want to be cool and hook the seller up
free is always nice haha but i’d feel a need to compensate in some way
