I think the whole 12/30 set I had several run throughs
funny from someone that has argued they never practice anymore
just spun it in the ride on the way to dinner and every song is just nailed
the jim is just slayed 92 style. hot, tight, and tons of energy
corina perfect vocals and jam
whats the use played flawlessly
what a night!
hearing the SBD’s i’m having trouble finding negative points
all my issues from earlier tours were corrected
Trey knew it too
you can hear it in those guitar lines
he knew that him and the boys were on top again
TELA!!!!!!
listen to the tela compared to the other bust outs forbin and mockingbird
those were not bad but tela was slayed
probably one of the best versions of that song I have ever heard live
“They know their crowd, they know the room, they know the vibe. This awareness is one of the coolest things about 09 phish to me.”
right on @cowfunk
fuck yea, Tela
queen of wilson’s foul domain
Re-listening to 12/29 set II again. Please don’t sleep on that Jibboo sandwich! The Tweezer garners much attention, and rightfully so. But man, that Jibboo is rip-roaring good
not me man
that shit was smokin
already spun that jibboo about 10 times at the hotel before I left
some very inspired stuff by Trey and Page in that one
great energy
He’s yelling at the parking lot
Throwing beer cans down the stairs
@aw- yeah, that wasn’t directed at anyone in particular.
saw some nice mounds on south beach today
gotta love the euro style sunbathing
there is a europe perk AW 🙂
not taken that way at all man
just saying there was some good buzz down in Miami about that one
def one of the highlights of the year
next time might have to do the south beach thing
just for that reason
maybe get a place in and out of the city
got to love the bikini states
a bar tender at my hotel in south beach went to nye show
23 year old blond
left before balloon drop
said it was too weird and didn’t want to hit some joint laced with ?
said someone unfolded a piece of paper and offered her something
named with letters and numbers
told her she would have had a blast with us
Trey even slays the Heavy Things, man. 12/29 Set II might be the best set of the run, from top to bottom. 12/30 set II is great as well, but i’ll give the edge to the 29th. Am i crazy for thinking this?
That Heavy Things is blazing.
I finally “got” that song after the Indio version.
Stellar
I’d put em’ at a tie for best sets of the run (12-29 II vs 12-30 II)
when wilson got jibbooed the entire room gasped. Some seriously on point shite there. Seemed off the cuff but who knows maybe it was planned. Never dreamed the wilson outro could become jibboo that easily
no ties bk!
@cowfunk, i knew they were going into wilson a little before they did – u can hear mike playing the E a little before
oh haha read that wrong, nevermind, had no idea they were going back to jiboo
You’re right Palmer, this is serious.
I’d have to edge 12-30 over just because of the Boogie-Lope and the HYHU madness that came after the Sand, Curtain With, LIFEBOY, GBOTT sequence.
12-30 II just completely rips from start to finish. The Train just pushes it right over the top
yeah wilson coming in was a little more obvious and slightly off. Coming back out of wilson I wouldn’t believe anyone who said they knew it was coming.
ranks up there with any segue I can think of
the first set of 12/30 somehow pushes the second set over 12/29 .. much different nights for sure and hard to compare. The week for me is one big experience and none is possible without the rest. Glad I was down front for 12/29, had some serious page vibe going down there with the dance party for wolfmans tweezer and 2001
also tweezer is great but gbott was a game changer
i looooved that soul shakedown opener, really set the mood for the night
I am fairly amazed that TTE wasn’t played. Figured that one for an ’09 anthem from Trey’s point of view, like Joy.
Also amazed that SOAM didn’t make an appearance after having been such a fixture this year.
