well, I guess that is the important thing to show of a keyboard player, but I thought it was funny that you were the only one to not have his face shown.

yeah, I’ve got more than a few memories of late nights frolicking in/at Stonehenge, but nothing holds a light to seeing Phish there

  2. Lycanthropist Says:

i guess i get to keep my anonymity a bit longer ha ha ha

that really is a cool story.

i can hardly imagine what it must have felt like to hear reba, not knowing who those guys were or what they were about.

the only things I can compare that to is

    1. Moses and the Burning Bush
    2. when Bilbo put on the Ring for the first time
    3. when the first caveman made fire

    @ Lucan

Nice work brother! It must feel good, Now we know what you look like.

    Man…you’re ugly.

    I kid, I kid!

    Congrats brother!

Sorry. I haven’t had my coffee

  6. Lycanthropist Says:

i know i was born with the deformity of having hands for a face

  7. willowed Says:

Cancel that. I guess you’re not in the pictures.

    Again. congrats!

ESPN announced the World Cup TV Schedule. England vs. USA is on 6/12 @ 2:00 p.m.
Per Miner’s previous post, heavy rumor of Phish @ SPAC that same day.

I think this calls for a World Cup party viewing for pre-game.

  9. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

yeah, definitely an “aha” moment. eureka in the bathtub and all of that.

I live in South Bend and have always wished I was old enough to see that show (I was 10 at the time). The tape has always cracked me up b/c they are playing a ripping show and there is little to no crowd response. In fact Trey makes a comment before Yamar something like “mike heard this song when he was lying by a pool so were gonna play it now cause you all seem to be lying by a pool”

Met Parke Puterbaugh last night at a Phish book signing here in Raleigh, NC. Got a signed copy. Now I’m downloading the 11/19/92 Colchester, VT. show that LP just released. Going up to 60 degrees here today. Should be a good day…

  12. SillyWilly Says:

Thats awesome. I would love to listen to that tape. I imagine that Phish wasn’t very well known in South Bend in 1990.

  13. Neemor Says:

El Dude, was he a deuchebag?

  14. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

they still aren’t well known there! BTW, the version on phishows is the sbd, so grabbing that is about is good as you’ll find

  15. SillyWilly Says:

Also, @El Dude….I think that 11-19-92 show was the original Big Ball Jam.

  16. Litteringand Says:

Also thanks for the insight where the show actually took place. I always thought it happened at the Stepen Center. If you can believe it Outkast played there in the early 90’s

  17. EL Duderino Says:

    @ Neemor

For a dude in his 50’s he was really into them and I mean a lot for a cat his age. My feeling after hearing him speak and him answering questions is that Parke seems to really care for these guys and wants them to get their proper recognition in the music world. He feels that Phish is the true “Indie” group of America not what the douche bags in record stores consider “Indie”.

It sounds like they’re friends and the boys respect this cat very much or they wouldn’t have made them their “in house” writer.

  18. beepaphone Says:

@willow – abolutely. I won’t be able to miss much Cup this summer.

  19. marcoesq Says:

    Thanks for the DOTD, Miner

Love the Wiltern, definitely a cool venue

I assume you were like me during the South Korea WC. My ass was up in bed at 3:00 a.m. watching games.

My wife wanted to chop my balls off.

  22. EL Duderino Says:

What impressed this guy Park Puterbaugh was when he first met them and went to rehearsal which few Phish family have been allowed to do. He talked about the various exercises that Trey and the others have come up with and from what Parke said he became an instant fan and was amazed by how hard the guys worked at their craft.

He also talked about the connection between him and Trey ‘cuz they both have PHD dad’s and both coming from the north east, there seemed to be an intelectual connection between Parke and Trey.

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

Stepan Center is the worst venue for music evar. I saw a ton of bands there back in the day and the reverb off of the roof and walls was very difficult to deal with. back then, they didn’t have a good small venue for bands to play on campus though, so it was what we had. not the wisest move to use a round structure (with a geodesic dome on it and nothing inside to capture the sound bouncing around) for live music performances.

  24. Marshall Says:

el dude – how’d you find out about the signing? I tried a google search and got nothin’

  25. sumodie Says:

@dude: cool to hear back about parke -thanks. have yet to read his book.
