so now im getting snowed under by both jerry AND neil gaiman recommendations. you guys are too much.

hhmmm…wonder if an ipad would help my situation?

  2. Mr. Palmer Says:

BK- I listened to Set II from the Creek a few days ago. Still stands up. Song i Heard, Drowned is real nice.

  3. ChefBradford Says:

Fooling around on phishows.com, found a ton of outtakes from the Lawn Boy sessions, they have a soundcheck section up, and better versions of some shows than they used to have.

  4. ChefBradford Says:

Wow, “Rift” was a completely different song before the guys dropped “With” into it and reworked it.

  5. gus Says:

@chef – i think what you’re listening to are the wendell sessions from 1990. i was completely surprised when i heard that completely different ‘rift’, i think they played it live like that a few times. i kinda like it.

  6. BrandonKayda Says:

Downloading Knoxville now, only for the Waves->Song I Heard->Bowie and Undermind

Setlist wise that show looks stellar

  7. BrandonKayda Says:

Early Wedges were way different as well

  8. ChefBradford Says:

Weird. These outtakes are from the Wendell Studios sessions, but the tracks don’t match up with track-lists I’ve been able to find of those sessions. There is an instrumental version of “Glide II” here, I’m wondering if it’s from a later session?

  9. ChefBradford Says:

Yeah gus, you’re right, but like I said, the tracks don’t match up to what I’ve been able to dig up.

Forgot how much I like “Glide II”, although this version is missing the lyrics. Would love to see this song make an appearance. THAT would be a bustout!

  10. BrandonKayda Says:

    What’s Glide II?

  11. garretc Says:

Exactly what I was wondering BK!

  12. ChefBradford Says:

Ok, there are a couple of Billy Breathes outtakes mixed in here, that’s what’s going on. “Glide II”, “Grind”, “Strange Design”

  13. ChefBradford Says:

“Glide II” was played only once, at the Voters For Choice benefit (a show that saw the debut of some ten new songs).

It’s a gentle, quiet song, very pretty.

    Glide
    Flip flip flip flip
    It’s time
    flip flip flip flip

Something like that. Completely unrelated to “Glide”, as far as I know. Check out that Voters for Choice show (5/16/95), or check it out in the outtakes section of phishows.com (the songs are unlabeled, but it’s maybe the 3rd from last song on the second disc)

  14. ChefBradford Says:

The debuts in that show were:
    Don’t You Wanna Go
    Ha Ha Ha
    Spock’s Brain
    Strange Design
    Theme From the Bottom
    Lonesome Cowboy Bill
    Free
    Glide II
    I’ll Come Running
    Gloria

  15. Gratefulcub Says:

I am so ignorant of pop culture when it comes to music. I am watching the Grammies for S&G’s. It’s a tremendous show.

Right now, Beyonce is throwing down a smoking hot Ghost!!

Did I mention that the TV is on mute and I am listening to Miner’s Club Phish Compilation?

  16. ChefBradford Says:

I’m not sure if it’s in Mr Miner’s archive, but that show is available at phishows.com

  17. ChefBradford Says:

good call, Grateful. I didn’t even know the Grammys were tonight until every girl I know on Facebook started posting about it

    whoopdeedoo

  18. sumodie Says:

@gcub: then its your responsibility to let us know if the Ball dvd wins. or any other gossipy news!

  19. Gratefulcub Says:

Pretty sure that category won’t be telecast.

  20. BrandonKayda Says:

    ill repeat:

    asheville ghost is incredible

  21. jay Says:

just caught up on Lost. Oh my god. Can’t wait for Tuesday

  22. Marshall Says:

Miner – I believe you’ve met AW in person. I met him briefly at F8 at the Oasis, but now as I’m watching all the season recaps of Lost, it occurred to me that AW bears a striking resemblance to Daniel Faraday. Thoughts?

  23. Gratefulcub Says:

If you guys have not already done so, you should give some of miner’s compilations a listen. Sure, they are several hours long, but he has taken a huge amount of music and distilled it down to a few hours of the ‘best’ jams. The 98 Laid Back Funk and the Club Phish are both full of nuggets.

I don’t say this very often, but it isn’t because I don’t believe in it: Thank you Mr. Miner. Your labor of love adds to our lives.

update: Black Eyed Peas are killing this Runaway Jim. KILLING IT!!

  24. Gratefulcub Says:

    Runaway Runaway Runaway
    Ooooooooo
Tonight’s Gonna be a good good night!!!

  25. BrandonKayda Says:

I don’t understand how those guys write songs (Black Eyed Peas)’

“Hey guys, I’ve got a new idea for a song!”

    “Let’s hear it”

“Well, it’s ‘tonight’s gonna be a good night, yeah tonight’s gonna be a good good night’ repeated 7000 times over a trash-can beat”

    “Awesome!”

    Blows my mind…
