A Post-Hiatus Playlist

7.10.03 (A.Markarian)

Out of the many great Phish jams during the post-hiatus era, here are a couple of top-shelf selections.

A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing” 6.19.04 II SPAC

Evoking the feel of Pink Floyd’s psy-rock, this piece of improv is among my favorite regardless of era. A truly masterful excursion, this song needs to find itself back into rotation come summer.

Scents and Subtle Sounds” 7.30.03 I Camden

Arguably the most impressive version ever played – it would certainly get my vote – this “Scents” highlighted the first set in one of the band’s most impressive post-hiatus’ outing.

7-15-03 - USANA Amphitheatre

Mr. Completely > Low Rider” 7.15.03 II West Valley, Utah

In one of ’03s out-of-the-way and undersold shows, Phish debuted Trey’s longtime TAB classic, “Mr. Completely,” and with it came a furious half-hour of non-stop groove.

Twist” 6.20.04 II SPAC

Another interstellar jam from Phish’s last stand.

Seven Below” 7.13.03 II The Gorge

One of the first psychedelic masterpieces of the summer andย  legitimate tour highlight when all was said and done.

7.25.03 - Charlotte, NC (Alex)

Harry Hood” 7.25.03 II Charlotte, NC

A ground-breaking jam for “Harry Hood” illustrating the band’s exploratory spirit that underlines these years. A piece that once you hear you will never forget.

9.18.99 Coors Amphitheatre, Chula Vista, CA < Torrent

9.18.99 Coors Amphitheatre, Chula Vista, CA < Megaupload

@joe, that may be so ๐Ÿ˜‰

But the 11 win streak is a caps team record…

And the caps happen to be #1 in the NHL now…

And I have tickets to the caps home game on friday!!

So I’m pretty pumped and proud ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I can’t even type I’m so bored.
    No cadence.

  3. neemor Says:

I just watched like 15 Steve Earl videos on You Tube.
I’m more countrified than I’ve ever been in my whole life.
Let’s go bull riding down at the ol’ Shotgun Saloon…..
    Oh, wait.
    I live in Orange, CT.

  4. garretc Says:

Well neemor, sorry that some of us were so lame as to choose to be born during a year which still puts us in school at the current time, thus requiring us to write papers on occasion…

But really now, how are you gonna hate on a conversation about Marx, and legal briefs, and all that good stuff?!?

But actually for real, yeah, kinda boring stuff… Could be worse, but definitely could be better…

  5. Mr.Miner Says:

@BK..try making a new persona…all your posts are getting caught in moderation for some reason….

  7. neemor Says:

That andre michele link is nuts.
There’s all sorts of artwork and synth stuff to experiment with.
I felt like I was tripping alternately on shrooms and L for fifteen minutes.

  8. neemor Says:

    Papers are awesome.
    Keep up the good work.

flarrdogg’s paper that is disallowing phishthoughting: the positive affect of the introduction of the lady beetle (ladybug) as a biological control and pesticide alternative for aphids and other species. Who knew ladybugs were such a significant predator? News to me.

wow- I must be a hippie if I chose this as my research topic.

  12. SillyWilly Says:

    Totally cool, flarrdogg.

biological controls don’t poison my groundwater, so im all for them.

    go ladybugs!

  13. Gratefulcub Says:

Getting excited about Deer Creek already, how sad is that?

To get ready, I am listening to, per miner, the defining Gumbo of 98 DC.

Luckily, the little peppadew hiccups in time with Fish’s rythm. baby hiccups are damned cute.

  14. voopa Says:

Heh, you should tape that shit, cub!

  15. Leo Weaver Says:

Holy Shit what a day…just now getting to my nightly neemsbane. and to the BB. After a quick glance over a few pages, looks like I missed pizza and some cool “music toy” experiment thingy…gotta link?

@flarr…my wife and I actually released lady beetles 2 years ago to help control aphids and other little nasties in our garden…it worked. We’ve got a huge population that shows up each summer. I didn’t have to spary for bugs at all last year. And they are voracious bitches!

  16. Leo Weaver Says:

green lacewings are another good one

  17. KWL Says:

@kenny powers, thanks for all your hard work! Just digging into July Paradiso and night one sounds great so far

also quite happy you’re making each show available in multiple formats–don’t have the bandwidth to pull flacs now, but will be in the future! thanks much.

  18. Gratefulcub Says:

    Nice Gumbo

    On to the Gorge 2001

  19. KWL Says:

i am on the back of the worm.

    neemsbane please.

  20. Leo Weaver Says:

back of the worm is a good place to be @KWL…went there on Saturday.

  21. garretc Says:
