A Post-Hiatus Playlist

7.10.03 (A.Markarian)

Out of the many great Phish jams during the post-hiatus era, here are a couple of top-shelf selections.

A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing” 6.19.04 II SPAC

Evoking the feel of Pink Floyd’s psy-rock, this piece of improv is among my favorite regardless of era. A truly masterful excursion, this song needs to find itself back into rotation come summer.

Scents and Subtle Sounds” 7.30.03 I Camden

Arguably the most impressive version ever played – it would certainly get my vote – this “Scents” highlighted the first set in one of the band’s most impressive post-hiatus’ outing.

7-15-03 - USANA Amphitheatre

7-15-03 - USANA Amphitheatre

Mr. Completely > Low Rider” 7.15.03 II West Valley, Utah

In one of ’03s out-of-the-way and undersold shows, Phish debuted Trey’s longtime TAB classic, “Mr. Completely,” and with it came a furious half-hour of non-stop groove.

Twist” 6.20.04 II SPAC

Another interstellar jam from Phish’s last stand.

Seven Below” 7.13.03 II The Gorge

One of the first psychedelic masterpieces of the summer andΒ  legitimate tour highlight when all was said and done.

7.25.03 - Charlotte, NC (Alex)

Harry Hood” 7.25.03 II Charlotte, NC

A ground-breaking jam for “Harry Hood” illustrating the band’s exploratory spirit that underlines these years. A piece that once you hear you will never forget.

9.18.99 Coors Amphitheatre, Chula Vista, CA < Torrent

9.18.99 Coors Amphitheatre, Chula Vista, CA < Megaupload

An outdoor affair that started in the dark amidst the Southern California desert; this standout show goes out via reader request to Christine!

I: Tweezer > Roses Are Free > Wilson, Maze, Brian and Robert, Tube, Rocky Top

II: Boogie On Reggae Woman, Meatstick, Free, Bouncing Around the Room, Harry Hood, Frankenstein, Cavern

stop talkin about deer creek! y’all are making me consider the trip too without even knowing the rest of summer tour. go get LOST or something 8)

  2. GuitarPicker420! Says:

As a resident of Noblesville, I can tell you that there are lots of backroads into Deer Creek, just have to know where to go. Going to be a blast. Always love it when the boys come to my hometown.

  3. Henry Says:

I think the 2001 from the Gorge ’98 is my favorite ever, better even than the one from the Great Went a year before.

  4. Gratefulcub Says:

The gorge mikes is top shelf too. hope the weekaP follows suit

i’m om peppaduty tonight, and she wants to hang out instead of sleep

or maybe she just loves phish (proudcub, but still very grateful)

  5. voopa Says:

    hope the weekaP follows suit

    Oh, it do!

  6. ChefBradford Says:

You guys should read the posts from a year ago on Miner’s “Phish’s Last Stand” write-up (the SPAC 04 one); no-one I’ve seen here in the last year or so, and a good bit of negativity (speaking of which, I’ve seen some unwarranted negativity here lately).

We’ve got a good thing here, people. DON’T FUCK IT UP

Pretty shitty to call a few hard-working (school) posters “the worst night crew ever”

    just sayin

  7. sumodie Says:

@chef: that quote about the nite crew was a joke if i recall correctly. some folks have been upping the sarcasm, though they mean no harm.

  8. ChefBradford Says:

I read that post, and surrounding posts, several times, didn’t seem like sarcasm/joke to me. Maybe it’s just me, I’ve been…out of myself.

If I’m wrong, forgive me, if not, well…whatever

  9. beepaphone Says:

day crew is all about the intense sarcasm, but you wouldn’t know about that.

lulz…seriously…that was all in sarcasm…if anyone at that time suspected otherwise, the offender would have been called out immediately.

  10. whole tour! Says:

still typing this paper on the reasons that I disagree with the statement that the social disruptions associated with the nascent industrial economy and its associated urban growth during the antebellum era and the ten years following the Civil War are greatly exaggerated.

and listening to phish over @ http://www.yawningdrone.com

MSG night 3 set one REBA = πŸ™‚

  11. ChefBradford Says:

Since it was neither preceded nor followed by anything saying otherwise, I’m still thinking it wasn’t sarcasm. And I don’t think there’s much of a distinction between “day crew” and “night crew”. Most of the people tonight were watching Lost

  12. ChefBradford Says:

I’ll stop. I give up/in, it was all in jest, I’m sure.

  13. beepaphone Says:

    Yeah John Locke WTF

  14. whole tour! Says:

locke was the shaft of his era…for shizzle.

what you talking about shaft? watch yo mouth!

  15. whole tour! Says:

give me binger rips or give me death!

  16. whole tour! Says:

seriously though…i’m still writing this piece of sh*t paper…and it still sucks..lol

  17. garretc Says:

Yeah WT, I’m still writing my paper and that still sucks too… At least I’m on west coast time though, so it’s not yet 11, and I still have time to get a reasonable amount of sleep…

  18. garretc Says:

And yeah Chef, I got the feeling it was sarcasm, especially cause Neemor and a few other folks were participating in Asshole Day earlier today, but I can’t be sure… Either way though, I took no personal offense to it, and my follow up comment was intended as sarcastic, so I’d say no harm no foul…

  19. whole tour! Says:

    almost 2 here…

gotta be up @ 8 to continue onward on one of the all time worst papers i have ever attempted. All i’m looking at is having many sheets of paper stapled together to hand in tomorrow. If i could see the look on the professor’s face when she reads it, it would be priceless.

  20. garretc Says:

Ouch, 2… Although knowing my luck lately I’ll probably be up until at least 2, whether I’m still writing by then or not!

Hmm, on the (relatively) bright side, maybe this way I’ll have some company on tomorrows PT post before I go to bed? I mean, Neemor may have thought the night crew was lame, but it’s a heck of a lot better than the graveyard shift crew! (Namely, just me…)

  21. sumodie Says:

yeah, neemor was just extending his run of heavy sarcasm. he posted sth this morn that fooled several of us for a bit.

meanwhile i cant stop reading this swedish crime novel, ‘girl w/ the dragon tattoo’, by stieg larsson. dont have to write a paper about it though. 8)

    good luck, term paper writers!

Can’t wait to dig into em’

  24. BrandonKayda Says:

I wonder why my posts don’t seem to show up…

  25. BrandonKyda Says:

    Let’s see if this works…
