I think smokey is from somewhere “else”. Not human and not of this world and wishes to return to from whence he came.

  2. bunitingi Says:

Oh, one last thing, the book Harley picked up while in dragging Sayid to the Temple… it’s Kierkegaard, the philosopher. I think this is the major clue as to what’s going on.

  3. Lycanthropist Says:

I was talking about the two realities earlier today.

So lets say the time split in 1977 (which I am pretty sure is the case)

there is the Reality A that we have been following for the last 5 seasons. That reality is still intact and nothing has changed. No bomb went off

In the new reality, the bomb did go off.

Now this shouldnt have a whole lot of major effect on any of the 815 passengers until after the moment that they would have crashed. There are some definite subtle differences going on that can just be chalked up to some minor decisions being made differently on this go round.

However, anybody that was on the island in 1977 (i.e. – Dharma and the Others) other than the time travelers should have extremely significant changes in their life paths.

Desmond being a key factor here. He was supposed to arrive on the island in 2001, but obviously didn’t due to it being underwater.

My point is that while the 815 passengers have led fairly similar lives in both realities up to the point of 9-22-04, the implications for all of the other people associated with the island are huge!

  4. Mr. Palmer Says:

BTW- great debut for the Lost thread fellas. Bravo

    Thanks Miner!

  5. Marshall Says:

Both threads will co-exist until re-convergence occurs at the end of the series.

Am I talking about Lost or the BB?

  6. Lycanthropist Says:

i know that is really strange Marshall

i am glad you pointed that out..

    crazy coincidences

  7. ohhphee Says:

Hopefully, this show will explain the mystery of Atlantis.

  8. butter Says:

if you google “Phish” you get under 3 million hits

if you google “lost blog” you get 185 million hits

i wonder if anybody will show up here that was just searching for a “lost blog” and doesn’t know who Phish is

  9. ohhphee Says:

That could be interesting. Worlds colliding!!! Worlds colliding!!!

  10. Mr. Completely Says:

the best Lost episodes make me want to go back and watch every major episode over again RIGHT NOW

this definitely is in that category

  11. Lycanthropist Says:

    @Mr. C

    yeah definitely

    well said.

    best season opener?

  12. Lycanthropist Says:

Season 3s opener was pretty intense as was Season 5

but this one, man just brilliant on soooo many levels.

  13. Lycanthropist Says:

so do you guys think Richard will now have to serve the Man in Black

and by go home do you think he means to take the whole island somewhere or somewhen that he calls home?

  14. ThePigSong Says:

I still think its a good possibility that the MiB calls the temple his home, and this is all to get back to the ‘throne’.

Also, if Jacobs cabin was surrounded with ash to protect himself from the MiB, why could the two of them talk face to face on the beach last season?

  15. Lycanthropist Says:

Well that convo took place a long long long time ago

it seems that something happened to the man in black that caused him to lose his body and become the smoke monster.

i think it is that point that the ashes began to have their effect.

i dont think the temple is home because when he said he wanted to go home it was in the context of comparing himself to John. John doesnt want to leave the island, where as he does.

  16. ohhphee Says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. He’s a very intriguing character, but he doesn’t come across the fighting type, really.

As far as where home is, there are so many possibilities at this point that it is just hard to tell.

Well, have a good night, man. I’m about to go be a huge geek and re-watch the show with my wife. Hopefully, I’ll pick up on a few more things to share tomorrow.

  17. ohhphee Says:

referring to your previous comment, of course. Any way, goodnight, all.

  18. Lycanthropist Says:

    night ohhphee!

  19. ThePigSong Says:

huh, well I got into Lost last year, and this inter-web based discussion this week.

    I’ve got much to learn/re-learn/hypothesize. 🙂

  20. Lycanthropist Says:

    its cool Pig

I have little idea what the true nature of the MiB and Jacobs beef is
but loving that we are starting to be able to truly put the pieces together

  21. Lycanthropist Says:

Damn and the LOST discussion died out that quick…

    Oh well.

  22. Lycanthropist Says:

    I’ll just talk to myself.

The Man in Black? From another planet? dimension? universe?
Where is home for this guy?

Desmond – was he really on the plane?

Also noticing that a lot of the events that happened on the beach when they crashed seem to be playing out very close in the sideways world:

    Jack saving Charlie from asphyxiation
    Boone and John bonding
Edward getting hit in the head
Claire being kidnapped (Kate took her cab hostage)
Jack and John having a discussion about Jacks Dad
    Jacks dad’s body going missing

    etc etc

  23. Mr. Palmer Says:

Interesting stuff Lycan- i will re-watch again in next couple of days to see if anything pops out.

  24. Lycanthropist Says:

yeh i am gonna have a rewatch myself today

  25. jay Says:

interesting points lycan about the sychronicity with the 2 time-lines. I think the beef between the MiB and Jacob is this I believe:

Jacob is a protector. He somehow managed to lure the MiB entity to this island as a trap. It is now a prison and the MiB has been searching for a way to break out.

The question is, why is Jacob keeping him trapped on this island? Who is he protecting?
