    anyone else think jack’s ex was going to be juliette? not that it really matters, but i wouldn’t be surprised if we see her hook up with sawyer in the alt world, and their story ends with that dutch treat cup of coffee she mentioned right before dying. or at least that the cup of coffee puts them in the position to do whatever it is they need to do.

    i’m w/mr. c re jack as the least compelling of the major characters. last night gave the story a little nudge forward – time for things to fly again next week.

  2. Mr.Miner Says:

    I thought last night was incredibly engaging. Jack is the center of LOST, like him or not.

  3. Lycanthropist Says:

    gotta agree with Miner

  4. Lycanthropist Says:

    although miner –

    jacks appendix scar, while def a crossover residue, is not from being tested.

    my guess is that is the scar from when Juliet removed his appendix on the beach

  5. Lycanthropist Says:

    i think we will see Juliet in Sawyers flashsideways…

  6. Lycanthropist Says:

    but yeah, Miner you are right.

    Jack is a if not the central character to the show. Love him or hate him. His episodes are usually very important in the long run (except of course Stranger in a Strange Land).

    As I said before, I got to a point where I hated Jack, but he slowly but surely has been rebuilding himself.

    I was reading yesterday, and someone mentioned how Jack breaking the mirrors was symbolic of breaking the smoke and mirrors that is LOST. He is tired of all the trickery and manipulation, and now ready for some real concrete answers.

    Smoke/Cave = MIB with Sawyer
    Mirrors/Lighthouse = Jacob with Jack

    It sure looks like Sawyer and Jack are lining up to take over the respective positions of dark vs light.

  7. Mr. Completely Says:

    I think the cave, lighthouse type locations are not directly associated with MIB on one hand and Jacob on the other, but like the statue and perhaps the temple are part of the larger context in which those two are operating – that is, they belong to whatever group the “boy” who chided MIB re: the “rules” is part of. For example the scales in the cave – I don’t think those belong to either, but to whoever is “judging” or at least observing their conflict

    @bright – a fair number of folks seem to think Juliet will be the mom, and also the coffee-with-Sawyer thing….it does seem like the kind of thing that would happen at this point

  8. Lycanthropist Says:

    see it seems to me that the lighthouse and the cave seem to be respective homebases.

    you are probably right Mr. C, but for now I am seeing this as a kind of capture the flag kind of game. only the flag is the survivors.

    I think at one point they shared both locations, but when their rivalry started, they each went to their respective ends of the island.

    With the statue being a sort of neutral place maybe.

    I still want a better understanding of the Cabin and why its role was so important.

  9. Snigglebeach Says:

    The fact that Jack is #23, a Prime number, is further proof of his central importance to the show.

    It has always been Locke vs. Jack. It will finish that way too.

    The full statue is of an Alligator type creature. The skull in Claire’s disturbing crib, to me, looked like an alligator skull.

    I agree that Juliet seems a good candidate for David’s mother. I was sure that the episode would end, with the mom showing up and it blowing our minds.

  10. Mr.Miner Says:

    Locke is dead

  11. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    wow. it feels really good to have finally caught up and to be able to participate here as well. blasting through 5+ seasons of this show in under a month has messed with my head a bit. too many Lost-induced dreams to count.

  12. Lycanthropist Says:

    @T3

    dude i can’t tell you how many damn LOST dreams I had.

    especially during Seasons 3 and 4.

    I had so many encounters with creepy ass ben in my dreeams.

  13. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @lycan
    ben was one of my favorite characters up until this season. he is totally emasculated now that Flocke became the main antagonist. it would seem that his part in the tale is pretty much done now that he did MiB’s dirty work.

  14. Lycanthropist Says:

    @T3

    yeah he was one of my favorites
    and i agree he is pretty much wrapped up.

    but I think i am ok with where he is at now.

    It is logical and deserved.

    Ben was a mastermind, but a selfish and narrow-minded one.
    He destroyed a lot of people blindly for who he thought was jacob.
    As you now know though, he was doing evil work for what he thought was the greater good.

    Intention doesn’t exactly forgive him for the heinous shit he let go down.

    But he doesn’t deserve to die either.
    He is being punished in the most fitting way.
    He has to go on living with the knowledge that he was never the mastermind, but just another pawn.

    He was a good villain for the middle of the series, but we have always known that there was a greater one hidden around the corner. And boy does the MIB trump all the previous villians on the show

  15. Mr.Miner Says:

    5 seasons in under a month = EPIC

  16. phhphee Says:

    ^agreed

  17. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    gotta say, it was a pretty fun way to watch it. blitzkreiging Lost was really wild. probably the only issue is that I don’t have a good idea of the demarcation between seasons and knowing the difference between one episode and another is not too easy but on the other hand all of the characters, story lines, and everything else are pretty fresh in my mind.

    I’m actually a little disappointed to be caught up now because I have to wait for the next episode rather than being able to sit down and crank through 2 or 3 at once.

  18. Lycanthropist Says:

    yeah episode by week is rough…

    imagine waiting 9 months between seasons.

    thats tough

  19. Lycanthropist Says:

    @miner

    whenever you are ready to discuss im here:)

  20. Lycanthropist Says:

    Every time a mirror appears in this season we should pay attention
