I believe Sawyer is still up in the air – he want’s to leave the island but isn’t neessarily on MiB’s side. We have not seen him strangely enough since he went to the cave with MiB. Next time we saw MiB he was entering Claire’s digs (when she was with Jin).
Other than that I am with you.
ALso – another theory. I belvie Jacob picks the candidates and MiB knows who they all are – the dark cave where MiB brought Sawyer is actually MiB’s cave and the Lighthouse is Jacob’s place to mark the candidates.
Greeat thread. Thanks for all the thoughts. I felt it was the best episode yet, as it redeemed Ben and his queasy nature of deception and underhandedness. I don’t care where Rousseau is, and I doubt the writers do either. Alex came into Ben’s life in the LAX world because the universe tends to correct itself, as was discussed by Eloise I believe.
The Whitmore-Ben battle will rage, as will Jack-Sawyer, and Jacob-Smokey. I don’t know who is a match for Sayid at this point.
Miles finally got back in the game! Sweet lines. Ben’s scene with Ilana was INCREDIBLE! Jacob told him, “You always have a choice” he finally chose a different path.
Long time lurker, family beserker – Mr. Miner you always make my day!
Phish @ the Greek, wow! This could be an incredible run in the west this summer!
Whenever the smoke monster appears, I can’t get over how mechanical they make it sound. Aside from the creepy animal sound it makes, it almost seems like an oldschool roller coaster as it is being pulled up to the first major drop. Like heavy chains and gears pulling something very large.
thought it was pretty weak development that after eternity on the island, Richard just wants to kill himself. I also find it odd that as the main liason b/w The Others and Jacob, that he didn’t know ANYTHING at all about anything….
Jacob seems to be a blessing/curse….I dont think this is going to cut out as good v evil…
pretty choked when they said 10 more eps + finale….really? Lets see,,,,
Mr C, I don’t know if Michael Emerson has won any awards for his acting, but he defintely should for this ep As others have stated, very moving. Just got a chance to watch last night.
Why does Jacob’s touch mean Richard doesn’t age. He touched all the other candidates?
I am also wondering how everything is going to be tied up so soon. Probably will leave a lot of unanswered questions for us to argue over the rest of our lives.
I think Jacob’s touch means different things for different people fwiw
“you guys will all love him [Jack] by the end I am sure. Even you Mr. C”
oh sure. I like what they’re doing now. I just basically found him a little obvious, character-wise, at first; and then it seemed like the writers had him stuck or going in circles for a few seasons.
I think this episode was huge for Jack’s character. Throughout the show, he has always trumped science over faith, refusing to believe that the island had any “power”. The scene with Richard and the dynamite showed that he has developed a type of “faith” in the island and he believes that he is there for a purpose. Its a total 180 for his character. Maybe that was his “acid test”, proving his worth as a candidate.
@bright light
i noticed that gas parallel as well
and three cheers for Jack.. man he is really comin along..
you guys will all love him by the end I am sure. Even you Mr. C

that scene with the dynamite was sweet
good stuff
something to think about:
Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid arrived in 1977 only a week ago.
It has only been one day since they were blasted back to the present.
Dr. Linus started Day 2.
6 episodes = 1 day
18 episodes = 3 days
Possible resurrection on day 3?
I think so.
I sure fucking hope not.
there are a few threads in season 6 that could wind up being christian allegories.
if they end up using any of them I will be livid
how incredibly lame that would be
unless they explain away the bible fairy tales as having been created by the island magic…that would be kind of ok
as you may be able to tell I am not a fan of the christian death cult and am tired of having it turn up metaphorically all over the place
I am quite hopeful they are not going this route though
it’s just super cliche’d storytelling if nothing else
the only thing lamer could be click your heels three times, wake up in your bed and it was all a dream

^ how do we know this? implied?

implied by the fact that its only gotten dark once since they came back to 2007
