As Mike wraps up his eight-show mini tour this weekend, let’s turn our attention to the few recordings that have been posted. Along with the tour opener, these are the only shows that have surfaced on line for now. I haven’t gotten a chance to listen to these yet, but reports from the road have been glowing. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Mike’s band, grab these for your weekend enjoyment! If you do get to see a show and would like to write a reader review, send your piece to mrminer@phishthoughts.com.

@marshall: i was at camden 7/10/99. would it surprise you to hear me say that i don’t remember much? just that the mist and the circus in the 2nd had me a little miffed. looking at it on paper now that….

Tweezer > Mountains in the Mist, Birds of a Feather > When the Circus Comes, Fluffhead

seems like good pacing…but at the time i was bellyaching. need to listen to that as well. HOMEWORK! wasn’t unusually long as far as i can remember.

  2. Marshall Says:

@ G-Diddy – the times are said to be wrong now, so all my questions were for naught.

  3. gavinsdad Says:

#line gets me misty. there. i’ve said it.

i LOVE that song. the sentiment way more than the song itself but that is a happy ass song and i really like thinking of the tom/trey history and them coming out the other side of some darkness to some real light. they made that tune shine in 09. will be stoked to hear it again.

  4. ChefBradford Says:

I believe that Camden Tweezer featured a What’s the Use jam (quote? tease? whatever), but I haven’t listened for a couple years.

I like hearing the crowd shout “can’t I live while I’m young” in this Chalkdust

    eagerly awaiting the jam, Marshall

  5. ChefBradford Says:

anybody else here ever see the long, incredibly bitter essay (?) Tom posted on his Myspace page four or five years back? I haven’t read it in a long time, but it was angry, hurt, and a bit venomous. He was responding to a fan’s question about Phish, I believe

  6. ChefBradford Says:

I think he eventually apologized for it

  7. Marshall Says:

If you are watching the clock, Chef, it starts getting interesting around 7:00 in.

  8. ChefBradford Says:

No fat in Trey’s fingers at all. Ripping thus far. Still definitely in CDT territory, but it’s a fine land in which to reside

  9. ChefBradford Says:

nice shimmering, trilling guitar work here. Fish seems very tight. And THERE is that left turn

  10. Marshall Says:

Alright, I made a mistake earlier when I thought I was talking about Camden ’99. I mistakenly opened the 2000 folder and then believed that 7/11 was Camden because it contained a Chalkdust.

This is the Moby Dick show I believe. If the times are close to correct, then this show could be really long.

Chef – I’ll go back and listen to the ’99 Camden Chaldust and Tweezer now.

  11. ChefBradford Says:

Ah, now we’re coming in to some of the psychedelic ambience that defined 2.0. Mike is sounding very ominous

After a good airing, my house still smells like an incinerated corn dog. And that damn thing maybe weighed an ounce when I removed its carcass from the microwave

Trey is in some dark territory here, chugging along, Mike is playing with his pedals, and Fish is still driving the beat. Unfortunately can’t hear much of Page in this recording

  12. ChefBradford Says:

Marshall, I wondered how you made it through the Chalkdust so quickly! I just double checked, I am indeed referring to 7/10/99

    Check it, dude

  13. Marshall Says:

    already on it

  14. ChefBradford Says:

Let me know when you start the Tweezer, I’ll revisit it with you. Haven’t seen that guy in awhile, need to get reacquainted

  15. Marshall Says:

Will do. Just began the jam on the Chalkdust.

When this and tweezer are done, I’ve got to figure out what the deal is with 7/11/2000.

  16. ChefBradford Says:

Fishman is killing this. Damn, we’re back to the main theme. Got seriously dark for awhile there. Nicely played.

Marshall, homework: if you want to check out another outh there Chalkdust, check out the IT version. It made the DVD, I don’t remember the length, but I’m thinking 20ish minutes

  17. ChefBradford Says:

Wasn’t that 7/11/00 show a Deer Creek show?

  18. Marshall Says:

Like the simpleness of the CD jam as they pass 6:00.

OK – 7/11/2000 is the middle show of Deer Creek’s run.

@ El Dude – was this show close to 5 hours? I know you went because you mentioned this run at lunch the other day.

  19. Marshall Says:

I love CD from IT. I’ve got the DVD and watch Disc 2 quite often.

  20. Marshall Says:

IT DVD disc 2 is $$$$$$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

  21. ChefBradford Says:

There’s a little BOTTish breakdown for a few bars, then they move on. The….tone of the jam changes a couple of times, then, POW, they hone in on a theme…and it’s glorious

    re: Camden

  22. Lycanthropist Says:

yeah IT disc 2 has melted my baned existence a few times..

may be time for another spin of that

  23. ChefBradford Says:

ha, word on the Disc 2 $

  24. Marshall Says:

9:15 to 11:00 – it’s been solid and steady, like a train, but venturing into non-chalkdust-esqe lands (one of those times where I can hear another song, but its not a quote or even a tease, just “sounds” like something else).

  25. Mitch Says:

if only we could get a dvd of the whole IT weekend. too bad they prob wont ever do that now that the pbs it dvd is out. gotta say, something like cliff ball would have been way better. place and time was fitting for what it was.
