Dave Matthews Band- Those guys kinda sound like Phish, right?

Palmer- My name is Stewie and I take no offense.

  2. neemor Says:

DMB and PH are practically synonymous.

  3. cal Says:

I’d say Gavinsdad’s advice is spot on. Once the show is over, you just have the memory. Unless you were hammered, and then you have little or nothing. My favorite show ever was stone-cold sober.

If she’s excited about it and not feeling pressured, I don’t see a problem, but if she’s apprehensive, definitely best to drop it.

  4. Mr.Palmer Says:

    @ Flarr- llfa!

  5. Foul_Domain Says:

$200 for DMB ticket is my limit.

    Thats right…

Pay me $200 and I’m in.

  6. flarrdogg Says:

Sober at shows- I was apprehensive about it at first, having been altered in some way for my entire show-going career, but I prefer it in every way. For some it is an ‘everything in moderation’ type of thing. For others (such as myself) moderation does not exist and it’s an all-or-nothing kind of a deal. Surprisingly, the nothing (Gorge this summer were my first sober ph shows) suits me just fine. ‘Fully Present’.

    Different for everyone.

  7. Mr.Palmer Says:

I saw DMB at Giants stadium years ago. wife and I sparked a spliff. Some wench a few seats down got up and told security on me. Pissed me the fuck off. If you ask me to put it out, fine. I’m harmless enough. I’ll respect your space, whatever.
Unfortuntaley i talked my way into staying for another hour or so. then i had to leave. It was horrible, the scene that is. I won’t return.

  8. SillyWilly Says:

    @Frankie, Halcyon, and Gavinsdad,

thanks for all the recs. I’ll swing by a record store tomorrow and see what I can find.

sorry, i took a little sunday nap. one of those where you wake up feeling shittier than you did before you went to sleep. bummer.

  9. Foul_Domain Says:

Palmer – I had a similar experience in ’98. Aspects of the music were ok, but the scene sucked balls. I dont know who was louder – Dave, or the teenage girls belting out every radio song.

    I won’t return.

  10. Gavinsdad Says:

Hate the cranky nap. Those are more the norm these days. I’d rather stay awake. I had the “hour of power” down in college. Alas, no more.

  11. neemor Says:

I only see PH sober now.
I agree that it’s not an integral part of the experience, but it can certainly change it to a large degree and should probably be tried at some point.
    L, that is.

  12. Mr.Palmer Says:

Neemor- if my wife comes to Spac, it will be on Saturday. If you need a place to crash on sunday, feel free.

  13. SillyWilly Says:

Im usually good for a nice 30-40 minutes. just takes the drowsiness out of my 430-830pm.

    but today it backfired terribly.

  14. neemor Says:

    Watching ‘Life’ on Discovery.
Crazy stuff, this world we live in…

  15. neemor Says:

    Word, Palmer…I may.
    Good looking out.
We’ll see how the ticket thing goes.
I know I’ll be there the first night (I’m bringing butter and pal), hope to get both nights…

  16. pagesidehighschool Says:

wow, life’s first set was sick. a smokin “cheetah” to open, “chameleon>venus fly trap”, a nice “isrealian ibex” (or aye aye, as its known by real heads) and “the seal” to end the set. and they just opened the second with a sweet “pupa dance”

  17. pagesidehighschool Says:

oh shit, “pupa dance>Hippo love” hot show

  18. jdub Says:

Thanks for all the thoughtful responses. I also had the same question as Gus regarding Hartford tickets. I’m just going to throw out to the cosmos and go lottery, intend on the pavillions and go from there.

Regarding my son going with me to Greatwoods. It would be the last of a 5 show run on a Tues. I would be in total parental mode and go with his flow. I think it would be a memorable bonding experience for both us. The venue is fairly low key and close. Plus I would be giving my wife an evening off. We’ll see what happens.

I really appreciate the knowledgable response to noobs eating herbs. Smoking anything is out of the equation for her. I ate a bunch of brownies the first I made them because I thought I burned the butter. I made them right and have never been so toasted from bane. With this one it is entirely up to her. I will pass on the advice given to her. My sense is she will be just as happy sober or with a small buzz. She had a blast at Trey thanks to 2 $10 beers. I was the cheaper date that night. I’ll still quit the cigs.

    Good night all, Go Cornell!

  19. Mr.Palmer Says:

not to get all political or anything, but, is anyone else horrified of the notion that the US Gov’t will run healthcare?

  20. pagesidehighschool Says:

mr p, dont worry about it, its out of our hands at this point. i would be more worried about the preservation of the dmt frogs on discovery right now, which is more important. besides its still gonna be expensive either way, i mean the dmt of course

  21. Foul_Domain Says:

For whatever my Canadian opinion is worth, I just think its really bad timing. A massive overhaul of any multi-billion dollar industry should probably not be attempted in times of economic uncertainty, imho.

I like our public healthcare system, but what works here wont necessarily work for you good folks.

I would share your concern, for sure, Palmer.

  22. Mr.Palmer Says:

CNBC is showing a program about the Business of Marijuana.

  23. pagesidehighschool Says:

im a little bit worried, my deductable went up 200% this year, but life’s too short to worry about healthcare, is that an oxymoron

  24. pagesidehighschool Says:

i’ve seen this before mr. p, congress should watch this and supplement the bill with an amendment legalizing herb to pay for all of the fuck ups that are bound to happen

  25. pagesidehighschool Says:

sweet monkey footage on discovery right now
