Tickets to Telluride

Town Park -Telluride, CO (M.Chase)

As the mail order deadline rolls around this Friday, the hottest topic in the Phish community has got to be how the hell to score tickets to Telluride. The golden ring of summer stubs, of the 9,000 tickets, only 7,500 will go to people nationwide. After the near-impossible on-sale on April 2, we will all be left to our own own devices, and it may not be a pretty scene. The hardest ticket since Hampton’s ’09 reunion will undoubtedly be the top prize of 2010’s preseason, and here are some of the details.

Over the weekend, an article from The Telluride Watch emerged explaining the 1,500 “locals only” slots which will be sold in unique fashion to prevent resale.

Purchasers will need to present their driver’s license proving San Miguel County residency at a sales venue in order to purchase access to the concerts…For those local residents who don’t have an up-to-date drivers license, other means of proving residence such as a current utility bill or pay stub may also be accepted as long as the bearer can also produce valid identification, confirmed Ronnie Palamar of the Sheridan Opera House and Karen Lamb of Telluride Music.

“Everything is going to have to match,” explained Lamb, later adding, “We’re just trying to make sure the locals don’t get squeezed out.” Purchasers’ names will be placed on the Will Call list and they will again need to present identification at the concert box office in order to obtain a wristband for entry. They will also need to accompany the person for whom they bought a ticket at the concert box office.

For everyone that doesn’t get lucky in Phish’s Tickets-By-Mail crap-shoot, there won’t even be an option to go to an outlet unless your get yourself to Telluride. From, here are the on-sale details for April 2.

Tickets go on sale Friday, April 2nd at Noon Mountain time. Tickets can be purchased online at or charge by phone at 866.461.6556. Tickets may also be purchased at the Sheridan Opera House and the Telluride Music Company. Tickets for this show are only available as part of a 2-day ticket for entry to both 8/9 and 8/10. You cannot purchase tickets for individual days.

In case you missed that, the core facts are that the entire nation of Phish fans will be battling online, or on the phone, for 7,500 two-day passes. To make matters all the more complex, Ticketmaster isn’t selling these tickets, rather, Tickethorse, a Colorado-based agency that is bound to crash, will be dropping the Phish ticket of the season. Giddy-up? One can only hope.

Even with a legit system, 7,500 tickets would be gone in the first 15 seconds, and with a two-ticket limit, extras won’t exactly be floating around the Internet. I would imagine the only viable trade for a two-day Telluride pass would be tickets to all three nights of The Greek, (or two at the very least.) It should be an interesting post on-sale marketplace, as scalpers will have as hard of a time snagging these as anyone; there simply are not that many tickets! In this case, it seems that the lottery, of all places, is the most-likely way of scoring. And that, my friends, is a bleak situation. With the town booked solid, how this will all unfold remains to be seen. If nothing else, it will certainly be an adventure.

@KWL dont worry i emailed phishtickets last year they said multiple names from one shipping address is totally fine. and i got tickets.

  2. Matso Says:

    @ Marshall –

You’re probably right – I’m just paranoid. Now where’s my wife’s credit card?

  3. butterflyeffect Says:

It says “the same person at the same address,” and means exactly that, I assume. In other words, two people with the same mailing address can both submit ticket requests, as long as the credit cards are in different names. My SO and I both submitted for ’09 shows at the same address and had no problems.

Oh, and long time no see, BB! 😉 I am going to Telluride, whatever the cost. I hope to meet up with some of you there! We can discuss once we’ve all got our tickets. Good luck in the lotto, everyone!

  4. CushionConvector Says:

    Good morning all.

And best of luck to those trying for T’ride tickets, best advice I can give if planning to get tickets via ‘Tickethorse’ try and set up shop at multiple computers somewhere with a large server (possibly at a public library) because that site is going to crash and burn once the clock strikes midnight (or high noon mountain time)

    Just my $0.02

    @matso –

I’m glad to see that you are making it to some shows this summer. You were around in the early days of Mr. Miner’s blackboard as I was, back when there would be maybe 30 or 40 posts a day. If I remember correctly we had very similar sort of cosmic experiences during the Mikes>Mist at Hampton ’03. Strange how that stuff happens. It would be cool to cross your path at SPAC. Good luck with the planning.

I’m still torn on whether to enter the lottery or not. I just don’t want to get stuck with lawns for SPAC and Blossom. Decision, decisions…

  6. Stir it with a Ladle Says:

    @ matso

so I was wrong, it was a debit card, my fault…

  7. marcoesq Says:

Good luck to you all, especially our boys out west whos only option is to hit this

  8. fat bastard Says:

i have decided not to do ANY pre-order and see what happens. i just dont have the money to outlay for shows still months away.

phish vs utilitiy bills= tough choices

  9. SillyWilly Says:

    Morning, all!

hope your tuesday is going well.

  10. marcoesq Says:

    @Little Buddy

I feel you man, I don’t want to do lottery if it means getting stuck with lawn seats but they do show us what tix we’ve been awarded before you actually have to confirm the purchase. So if I see any lawn tix, I’ll just cancel the order

  11. Matso Says:

    @ Little Buddy –

I don’t think the Mike’s->Mist was me as I wasn’t at that show, but I’m sure there must be one or two other moments in Phishtory when we shared the same cosmic sphere. In any event, I’m keen to meet some of the peeps from this board this summer, so hope to see you too (I’ll try and figure out a way of identifying myself, possibly with a nametag or custom T).

  12. pagesidehighschool Says:

sorry kwl, i had what marshall posted all mixed up in my head, good luck

  13. AbePhroman Says:

The T-Ride shows will be a bust just like all the other hyped shows. Of course they will be fun, but nothing more special than other shows. I’m not going to bust my ass for tickets considering they are coming back east.

  14. Halden Says:

  15. ma Says:

    @ little buddy,

i believe that was me…. as matso said, i’m certain there were Many shared experiences .

we’re doin the greek and merriweather…no lottery for mpp, don’t want to get stuck with lawns…

time to work….have a great day all!!

  16. BTB Says:

Tickethorse – is this a joke?

    “Dude, Tickethorse crashed bruh”

  17. Worthless Swampy Fool Says:

marcoesq – really?! not doubting you I just wasn’t aware of that. If I can see my seats to confirm then I will do lotto. I can only do Thurs Camden this go round and REALLY want pavs. Cannot aford to get stuck with lawns and then try for pavs in th public on sale. Stretching the budget as is for 2 tix to one show (yes really). Again not doubting you but can anyone confirm this????

  18. jdub Says:

@Marco, is that a fact. I don’t remember having to confirm but if that is the case then it is a no brainer to go lottery.

@Matso, congrats on making the decision to do Hartford and SPAC! It will be expensive but those shows will not dissappoint, and there should be a large BB throwdown at SPAC, probably will rival the MSG meetup.

  19. marcoesq Says:

^Swampy, I didn’t do lottery but last summer but I know that I was made aware of what seats I got in the lottery last fall before I had to confirm purchase

  20. Stir it with a Ladle Says:

So the credit card hold doesnt confirm the tickets are yours…?

You need to confirm this is what you want? I have not seem this before…

  21. marcoesq Says:

You can’t just pick and choose what tickets you want to keep/get rid of in the lottery, it’s an all or nothing deal where you have to cancel or confirm the WHOLE order

  22. BTB Says:

LB – Blossom tix are going to be $20 tops. I wouldn’t do the lottery for them, but that’s just me. I’m not planning on getting tix in advance. Blossom holds about 20,000 people and the last concert to sell out was a country concert in 2007. (DMB can’t even sell it out…ha)

PH Blossom in 2000 had tons of extras and space all around on the lawn. My crew had our own speaker cabinet it seemed like…

  23. marcoesq Says:

What happens is first, they put a hold on your cc. Then, you get an email in the next day or two telling you what tickets you’ve been awarded for what shows

After that, you have a certain amount of time to either confirm or cancel your whole order

  24. neemor Says:

    Morning all!

    7.13.99, my top five.

Good luck to Telluride, I can’t even expend that much energy…

  25. fat bastard Says:

    blossom is where? sorry.
