  1. Jam on Dude Says:

June cannot get here fast enough! Bring the summer heat.

  2. Willowed Says:

Thursday in March. Holy shit. I thought it was Tuesday in April.
Thank god for this post, my day would have been shot!
I kid, Miner deserves a break every once and a while.
    Thanks for the DOTD

  3. BabyBigPerm Says:

I just feel bad for NZers. Some of them might be checking in to the site and it might already be Friday for them! Course, for them it’d be Friday and TGIF trumps anything/everything.

  4. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

94 Melts are just the sickness. deep, dark, and oh so face-melty. especially with a third stone from the sun tease like this one

  5. BabyBigPerm Says:

T3 in early? Time to make the doughnuts?

  6. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

yeah, BigPerm, long days at work right now. nothing like arriving at work less than 12 hours after you left from a 12+ hour day. I’ve said it before:

it is so not stupendous living in this cube.

  7. Little Buddy Says:

    “Time to make the doughnuts?”

Classic. I say this every morning to my wife and son when I wake them up to start the day.

@T3 – I feel ya. Left the office at 6 last night to go get the boy from daycare. Ate dinner with the fam. Back to the office until 11 PM. Up at 5:30 and back to the office by 7:30. Babylon.

  8. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

Babylon indeed. but I really can’t complain. I have a solid job that allows me to do a lot of things that I otherwise would not be able to do.

anyone want to get a little morning group listen going? I’d suggest the DOTD but I listened to that show recently.

  9. Little Buddy Says:

Same here, T3. Lots of flexibility at my job too.

I actually started up the DOTD a little bit ago. On the Div Sky now.

  10. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

okay, that’s just a little weird. I cranked up the Randomizer ™ and it popped out another good Deer Creek show: 8-13-96. Lots of parallels with the DOTD:

Tuesday, 08/13/1996 Deer Creek Music Center, Noblesville, IN

Soundcheck: Talk (intro, acoustic, x2), Waste (acoustic), Spooky -> Jam

Set 1: The Divided Sky, Tube, Tela > Maze, Fast Enough for You, The Old Home Place, Punch You In the Eye, Llama, Glide, Slave to the Traffic Light

Set 2: AC/DC Bag, The Lizards, Mike’s Song -> Lifeboy, Weekapaug Groove -> Somewhere Over the Rainbow[1], Waste[2], Train Song[2], Strange Design[2], Sweet Adeline, David Bowie

    Encore: Sleeping Monkey, Rocky Top

[1] Performed solo by Page on theremin.
    [2] Performed on acoustic mini-stage.

Notes: Page performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow solo on the theremin. Waste through Strange Design were performed on the acoustic mini-stage. Trey played the composed section to Divided Sky over the soundcheck jam. This show was officially released as Live Phish 12.

this should do nicely for my morning analytics

  11. purplehumpbackwhale Says:

@T3, ya know i never really felt like that show seemed worth downloading/buying… how is it? based on the setlist, im surprised it was one of the original 20 LP volumes while somehow classics like 11/23/97 were left out…

it just doesnt seem like an eventful setlist. tell me i’m wrong?

  12. Marshall Says:

Deer Creek. It was the first non-festival “destination” I traveled to (had been to Jazzfest already). I went for a two-night stand in 1996 (including T3PO’s randomized show above) and returned for a two-night stand in 1997. Camped at Glo-wook, I mean Glo-wood, both times. Set up tent under the shady trees and listened to the gas tanks and drum circles all night long.

I love Deer Creek. I hate the development that has encroached upon it. When I returned last year for the first time since 1997, it did not look the same. It used to be an oasis – now it’s “next to the strip mall” and a whole bunch of trees nearby are gone.

“Get off my lawn you kids.”

  13. purplehumpbackwhale Says:

in the recently added section of my itunes, there is like 20 hours of new ’99 material between
    -the new cypress source
    -12.11.99 (remaster from KP’s blog)
    -7.7.99 yesterday’s DOTD
    -tweezers 8/1/99, 9/9/99, 12/16/99
    -ghost 9/9/99

    suffice to say
    it’s a good day
as an avid ’99 fan, i’m reluctant to take off my headphones all day

  14. gavinsdad Says:

note the Jimi/Merman teases in todays JOTD

  15. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

I’ll let you know. just getting to the end of Divided so we’ll see (haven’t listened to this one in many moons). I like these shows that led up to the Clifford Ball. maybe it’s my ears listening back in a revisionist manner but you can kind of feel the anticipation and the energy building as they get closer and closer…

  16. lycanthropist Says:

what a perfect song choice for my bday jotd!

cant wait to crank that split at full volume when i get home

  17. Mr. Palmer Says:

    Happy bday Lycan!

  18. Luther Justice Says:

    Happy B-Day Lycan!

  19. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

well, happy birthday, Lycan! hope you have a good one!

  20. lastwaltzter Says:

@ T3 “nothing like arriving at work less than 12 hours after you left from a 12+ hour day.” this is me today as well, at least i get to leave at 3

@purplehumpback, I haven’t listened to that show in a while but it has never been a goto show for me.

  21. mrfergie Says:

Morning all and happy birfday lycan!

  22. BTB Says:

How has that 8/13/1996 show escaped me?

Morning all, I agree TIII – jobs are bummers, but without them I wouldn’t be able to do the things I really want to do.

  23. lastwaltzter Says:

    Happy birthday lycan

  24. GuitarPicker420! Says:

Deer Creek is my home venue as I grew up in Noblesville. Marshall, you are right about the development creeping in. Its what our greedy mayor calls “progress”. Plus, can’t blame a farmer for wanting to make a buck when developers are offering 10’s of thousands and acre. My first show at Deer Creek was the good old Grateful Dead back in 1991. Bruce was still playing piano with them on that tour. Good times for sure. Though, I must admit, at 16 I was a horrendous noob and actually took off in the middle of space because it was still too weird for me. I didn’t leave in 1992. I’ve seen every Phish show at Deer Creek except for the 2nd night 2004 because I was so disgusted with the playing the first night. After that show, I didn’t really listen to much Phish for 2 or 3 years. I am so happy that they are back, playing well, and playing my hometown for 2 shows. My local bar is running a shuttle bus from the bar to the show and back afterwards, so seeing that it is only .5 miles to my place from there, I believe I have a plan that involves getting wasted and still sleeping in my own bed. Hope to see a lot of you out here.

  25. marcoesq Says:

    morning all, happy bday lycan!

I’m an avid ’99 fan as well

Would you wanna spin that BC 09/09/99 show?
