before the game she said kentucky got boo’d like crazy coming onto the floor.

when it was 7-2 cornell, she texted me ‘INSANE’

“Never underestimate absurdity, it is one door to the Imagination.”

  6. KWL Says:

i like that chef, where’d you pull it from

  7. ChefBradford Says:

KWL- Mr C would appreciate this: got it from the Illuminatus! Trilogy

He and I have discussed it a little here before, I don’t know if anyone else is familiar with it.

I’m rereading it for the fourth or fifth time, I guess

    Crazy, a lot of fun

A great mixture of nonsense and gems like that

  8. ChefBradford Says:

That’s one of the things I’ve always loved about Phish: their love and embracement of absurdity

  9. Mr. Completely Says:

i’m thinking about picking it or schrodinger’s cat up soon actually

i keep trying to start other novels and just can’t get into any of them, including some authors that are old favorites

I was just looking at the Illuminatus! Trilogy this morning on my bookshelf in light of that discussion you’re talking about. I’m thinking it’s going to be the nest book I read. I’ve only read it once, and it was several years ago, but I really liked it and have been meaning to re-read it. Thanks for the reminder.

  11. ohhphee Says:

    and there’s Mr C, also.

  12. Mr. Completely Says:

    let’s do it

chef is reading it, we can have the psychedelic blackboard book group or something

  13. Mr. Completely Says:

I’ll start after catching up on Lost tonight

  14. ChefBradford Says:

Sounds good to me guys. I’m a bit over 100 pages in now, but I probably won’t have much time to read again until Saturday or Sunday.

And Mr C, I’m definitely going to check out Wilson’s other stuff, Shrodenger’s Cat, etc

  15. ohhphee Says:

I’m in! It’s been sitting on my bookshelf, just mocking me – daring me to open it up. As I said, I really enjoyed it the 1st time, and that convo re-sparked my interest.

  16. SillyWilly Says:

Im in on the book group….if im invited.

  17. ohhphee Says:

Finally got the in-laws out of town C?

  18. KWL Says:

C, very cool stuff earlier. in my head, it’s linking up with chef’s quote on absurdity.

nothing is a priori good or bad, political or apolitical, useful or useless

the question is how do you use it, or to what use is it put?

drugs, like absurdity, can be a tool

for revolution, self-realization/discovery/effacement, profit, degeneracy (i.e you can use a drug to come to great realizations, or to destroy yourself, or as part of a political movement for freedom, or… etc)

links to our recent discussion on concepts and philosophy: not ‘is it true?’ but ‘what does it do?’

    very interesting for me

  19. ChefBradford Says:

Silly, climb aboard, it’s a hell of a ride!

  20. ohhphee Says:

Of course you are, Silly. You know how exclusive this board is.

  21. SillyWilly Says:

    Dang, I missed a philosophy convo….

  22. SillyWilly Says:

    Are we reading Schrodinger’s cat?

  23. Robear Says:

c, half way through season 4.

  24. Mr.Palmer Says:
