Weekend Nuggets: New Year’s Run ’94

12.31.94

DOWNLOAD OF THE WEEKEND:

When thinking of New Year’s Run ’94, people generally think of two things – The Providence Bowie on the 29th and Tropical Hot Dog Night on the 31st. While the odd numbered nights may have stolen history’s spotlight, the 28th and 30th are two shows that routinely get glossed over. Philly’s “Mike’s Groove” and, more specifically New York’s “Tweezer,”nights brought some of the most engaging music of the run, while “Reba” and “Stash”provided first set highlights, respectively. Enjoy the weekend, and best of luck with the rest of the ticket chase.

Palmer- Curious about your take on Wilco. You saw them last night for the first time if I read correctly. Thoughts? Not trying to put you on the spot, but they seen to be a bit of a polarizing band here on the board.

  2. Robear Says:

which team did Raymor Morgan play for last night, anyway Kaveh?

phuck. Butler beat us at our own game!

  3. Kaveh Says:

That game was a grind out and half court game the whole was. MSU had their chances; that is for sure. I think establishing tempo is the key to Monday’s game. Got to dictate early and make the other team play out of their comfort zone. I think either half court or up tempo favors Duke, since they can play both. I don’t know how comfortable Butler is at playing up tempo. That isn’t how they are built. But you don’t get to the big game without playing excellent basketball. If Duke let’s Butler hang around anyone’s game, but after last night’s performance, their best of the tourney, I think Duke has a real good shot at winning Monday night.

Another note, what where we playing for in the BB tourney pool? I forget. Thanks.

Happy Sunday everyone. Thoughtful writeup Gdad. Positive thoughts to you and yours.

  5. Gregg Says:

In a trade involving 1 Telluride pass plus Town Park camping ticket for 2 sets of Greek tickets, how much money should be added to the Telluride to make it a fair swap.

    Opinions?

  6. DocGanz Says:

    @el Dude
Appreciate the heads up, but am jumping off tour after Camden. Still, good looking out.

  7. Kaveh Says:

@Gregg. So you are trading 2 tickets and camping for 6 tickets. Is this correct?

  8. Robear Says:

AW, what’s Ozzie doing in the net for the Wings? Did he come out of retirement or something?

  9. halcyon Says:

SFO BB’ers private flight to Telluride from SFO 625 per person

  10. halcyon Says:

failed the private flight link…..I will try again later

  11. Gregg Says:

    @Kaveh correct

  12. Mitch Says:

just ran the numbers for telly. this is gonna hurt my wallet. worth it, but ouch.

  13. Mitch Says:

considering doing consider it dan. hotel looks freaking amazing. robear, bring your suit if we end up staying there. bomb ass resort in the mtns.

and i for one am freaking amped to see an indiana team representing indiana basketball. go butler!

  14. Mitch Says:

    robear,
where are you staying in telly? would you wanna get in on this CID package? would be nice to split up the cost a bit and stay in this resort. not looking to split 3 ways but anything helps.

  15. c0wfunk Says:

“For the folks planning on camping, would any of you or others be interested in camping a little outside of town on un-restricted private poperty?”

sounds intriguing – how far outside of town?

mitch I’m w/ you on the shocked wallet. Still trying to figure out how we’ll deal with getting there. Pondering heading into denver a few days early to save on airfare, but then the rest gets more pricey – what to do? Fly in/out of montrose just before? Fly to denver and have to drive back there on wednesday (have to get back for wife’s school to start like thursday or somehting)

good problems to have I suppose.

I hope everyone else is finding such gorgeous weather on this fine spring holiday!

  16. Robear Says:

mango, you have mail. found an artist to take on your glass project.

tentatively sharing a hotel in t’ride. keep me posted on your options.

will bring swim suit either way. not sure you cats want to see my long skinny legs though.

  17. Mitch Says:

agreed but i’m doing deer creek too so i need to use as few days as possible. i was using kayak and it goes like this.

8.8 fly to montrose from nyc
8.11 fly to indy from montrose
8.14 fly to nyc from indy

    740 a person. YIKES!

not a good problem but if i gotta drop bank, at least its for this. so like you say, good problems to have i suppose.

  18. c0wfunk Says:

ahh deer creek too that complicates for sure. we’re planning to fly from tampa and I’m looking at 400-500 per into montrose, but considerably cheaper for denver

  19. Robear Says:

    mitch, that’s not too bad.

it will cost me a bit more than that to do CMAC > Raleigh > Char > ATL

get into montrose at 3p.m. and we can car pool!

  20. Mr.Miner Says:

In a trade involving 1 Telluride pass plus Town Park camping ticket for 2 sets of Greek tickets, how much money should be added to the Telluride to make it a fair swap.

    Opinions?

    ^
1 Telly pass is good for 3 Greeks IMO
Then you should just pay face for the other 3 Greeks.

  21. Mr.Miner Says:

Orbitz hooked me with SFO>Grand Junction>Denver>Indy>Back to denver for a wedding > NYC > SFO = 5 flights for 800.

    Pretty good deal

  22. Robear Says:

    top of the morning Miner.

    I’m blown away.

People all over this board are planning their summer shows together.

Way to go, seriously. Coming from a guy that’s a long way from his old crew.

Will be doing all the shows I do this summer with BBer’s!

  23. Mitch Says:

    robear,
we fly in at 330. closet i could get to you. figure by then you can pickup your bag and car.

  24. Gregg Says:

Thanks Miner – that’s where I was with it.

I’m assuming you got what you need Miner?

  25. Mitch Says:

    miner,
what time are you flying out of denver? im thinking there would be more flights from denver so i could get into indy sooner. currently its putting us there at 1145 pm from montrose.

id be down to possibly carpool if you have room/need gas and rental money.
