Weekend Nuggets: New Year’s Run ’94

12.31.94

DOWNLOAD OF THE WEEKEND:

When thinking of New Year’s Run ’94, people generally think of two things – The Providence Bowie on the 29th and Tropical Hot Dog Night on the 31st. While the odd numbered nights may have stolen history’s spotlight, the 28th and 30th are two shows that routinely get glossed over. Philly’s “Mike’s Groove” and, more specifically New York’s “Tweezer,”nights brought some of the most engaging music of the run, while “Reba” and “Stash”provided first set highlights, respectively. Enjoy the weekend, and best of luck with the rest of the ticket chase.

you’re a smooth cat! will upgrade size of car this week!

either disc golf in montrose before we head, or race to telluride for last night of fest, with potentially phishy sightings?????

  2. Mitch Says:

    last night of fest?

i thought we fly in the 8th and do whatever we want (disc golf or telly) and im not really wanting to drive all the way to denver. depends how much money it would save.

i just didnt understand “last night of fest”

  3. halcyon Says:

I am pretty sure I can help anyone out with a ride from either Eagle, Montrose, or Grand Junction. Either a ride from the airport, or a pick up. As soon as my plans are in place, I will let the board know, and extend an offer.

  4. Mitch Says:

just looked again, apparently we get in at 12:41. after i refined my search it put me in earlier. so i guess we will be the ones kicking it for a couple hours waiting for you then.

i’ll be playing with these flights the next few days.

  5. Mitch Says:

who else is riding with us robear? maybe we can all ride with haly and not have to rent a car. throw money at halys gas needs instead.

or are you renting too halycon?

  6. Robear Says:

    me and my gf, mitch.

i was talking last day of t’ride fest. with phishy sightings potential.

will keep in touch with halcy re: rides. he’s the man.

  7. Robear Says:

    mango, you’ve got mail!

  8. cal Says:

Happy Easter, everyone! Crazy weekend, glad to have a day to relax.

Wow, Miner, that is an insane itinerary! Most people I know have balked at doing both Telly and DC just due to the travel toll. You must be skipping Alpine then?

Mr. P–if you happen to drop by today, very curious to hear about your Wilco show as well. I’m one of the very pro-Wilco BBers.

  9. Mitch Says:

    robear,
hop on gchat for a min

  10. Mr.Miner Says:

@mitch. same flight from denver. get into indy at 1145. all the flights go from small mountain airports > denver > indy arriving at 1145

  11. Mr.Miner Says:

I’m assuming you got what you need Miner?

^Well, I have the hard tickets, which is great. But still don’t have a lot. Looking for solid pavilions for SPAC, Hartford, Merriweather, and maybe Camdens, and a few others.

If anyone has these extras, I have Deer Creek 8/13 pavs, one GW pav, and one Raleigh pav to trade….

  12. joe Says:

with all the happy wishes, I’ll throw out Happy Opening Day (night). Not sure I’m ready for the long grind of the baseball season but at least it’s a sign of spring in bloom and summer on deck.

  13. Mr.Miner Says:

    Yankee season 🙂

  14. Robear Says:

miner, did they sign Granderson away from the Tigers?

way to kick detroit while she’s down!

  15. butter Says:

Yep, will be at Denver airport then too, got like a two hour layover there

  16. Mr.Miner Says:

Yep, will be at Denver airport then too, got like a two hour layover there

^ have a feeling everyone will be there.

  17. Mitch Says:

black board meetup at the rock bar in the denver airport. fat tire on tap. that should be a nice layover.

  18. butter Says:

i’ve heard talk of festi in Maine weekend after JB

  19. Mitch Says:

that would kinda screw me. having a local coast fest after jetting out to colorado. i think days off will be tapped. love to make that happen tho. i’d just wanna know so i could get rid of the jones tix and do that instead. hard not to do jones when its so close tho. lots to decide if that happens.

  20. butter Says:

yea, that would be on the fence for me as i am maxing my ability to be gone with current plans

  21. KWL Says:

boulder beer has a tap house right in the denver airport. near the security gates i think. good shit.

  22. Mitch Says:

i thought the one i’m thinking of was called the rock or something. maybe red rocks bar.

  23. Robear Says:

    fest in Maine.

    zzyzx will be pumped.

    i’ll be eating crow.

  24. butter Says:

    that would be Fest 9

    indio could be Fest 10

remember we are dreaming of the two fest year

  25. (Formally Known As) BrandonKayda Says:

Can Telluride be counted as it’s own festival? It’s in the middle of tour, but you still need a 2-day pass…

Regardless, Telluride is going to be bomb
