Stash” 3.30.93 I

One of the first profoundly expansive versions of “Stash” helped lay the foundation for the explosive year of 1993.

Birds > If I Only Had a Brain > Caspian” 7.8.99 II

A gorgeous piece of improv from Virgina Beach; the band seamlessly slipped right into a Phishy take on The Scarecrow’s “If I Only Had a Brain.”

The Gorge

Split Open and Melt” 8.2.97 I

This fusing of “Split’s” menacing nature and the emerging, slowed-down textures of Summer ’97 put a spectacular cap on Phish’s first set ever played at The Gorge.

Tweezer > Lifeboy” 6.10.94 II

The first-ever Red Rocks “Tweezer”- a seriously dynamic and intense version strewn with Mind Left Body jam overtones.

Mike’s > Life On Mars? > Weekapaug” 11.15.95 II

"Mike's Song"

This multi-dimensional “Mike’s” from Tampa, Florida in Fall ’95, reminds us of the time when “Mike’s Grooves” were psychedelic events in the Phish universe, sparking fires in arenas across the land. And this “Weekapaug” ain’t too shabby either!

cool…samples in some jars then. cant come empty handed

  2. BTB Says:

gcub – I don’t think you have to save it – automatic update

  3. kenny powers Says:

man, i wish i could make BTB fest…

this will sound antisocial and selfish, but sometimes i wish i didn’t have a local Phish crew. If i were on my own I know I would be so much more pumped to venture from Boston to the shows at Blossom, Hershey, Canandaigua…because i’ve never been to any of those places and it would be such a great, random summer adventure.

But I have such deep roots in this area that it would be sacriledge not to go to Hartford, SPAC, Mansfield….probably JB. But I just can’t afford it all. Thanks BTB for at least giving folks an affordable lodging option. For me it’s the money to get out that way, but thanks nonetheless!

  4. punkmug Says:

Toyota>BTB for me too! I’ll bring some MN brewski to share as well.

  5. jdub Says:

Don’t forget old man Watson at the top of the leader board.

Happy Friday all and great to see the return of TTFF!

That Bitch is straight up funknasty. In some weird timming this morning my wife mixing something in a bowl and oblivious to the music I was playing did a multiple tap on the dish perfectly timed with the Stash tapping. I did a double take and realized the stars are in alignment this morning.

    *bling bling bling*

  6. SillyWilly Says:

Im really happy about the way the Master’s has started.

What would be better than Tiger and Phil dueling it out on Saturday and Sunday?

I’ve decided that I still love Tiger —in much the same way I love Trey.

Both these men hit rock bottom and they had the guts to do something about it. Trey is better than ever from a personality standpoint (the darkness that lurked just behind his eyes is gone)

Tiger seems the same way. I guess his story hasn’t played out yet. But, I for one, believe his turn around has been sincere.

  7. BTB Says:

Punk – what was the name of that MN beer your brought last time?

  8. BTB Says:

Click on my BTB tab for the update Cactus Rig (click on the image to make it bigger – you’ll see it)

  9. Mr.Palmer Says:

I thought that Tiger’s ressurection of his dead fathers voice for his own image repair and wallet was as low as it gets. I could care less about the other stuff. The guy is not normal (in a bad way). who does that?

  10. marcoesq Says:

“I’ve decided that I still love Tiger β€”in much the same way I love Trey.”

    Great statement, Silly

People all over have been so quick to judge this guy, can you imagine growing up and being THAT polarized from everyone in the world? His friends (does he have any?), family, the media, his fans, every single other golfer in the world…I’m sure it’s pretty lonely at the top, especially at his version of the top

I can’t wait to see him bounce back and just f-k everyone and their opinions up

Any of us that have gone through a personal crisis or embarrassment or who have an idol who has done the same πŸ™‚ should realize that everyone deserves a second chance

  11. mrfergie Says:

Morning All – Thank Icculus for the return of TTFF, I certainly need it today…

  12. jdub Says:

Everyone deserves to be forgiven of their sins and hopefully the man will right his ship, face his demons, and rise to the top again.

  13. punkmug Says:

@BTB – Surly. Super awesome stuff. It was the Surly – Bender that I brought to Cobo. This time I plan to bring some Furious. 16oz cans of liquid goodness. πŸ™‚

  14. marcoesq Says:

Exactly Palmer, he is NOT normal

But can you blame him? He’s grown up being the best at golf out of everyone he’s ever known

Can you imagine what that would do to your psyche? None of us could ever even begin to understand what that guy feels

  15. Mr.Palmer Says:

Like i said, I don’t care about the women and his marriage. Not my business. That commercial bothers me a lot. Don’t blame Nike, thats their job. Tiger actually thought that was a good idea? Classless IMO.

  16. marcoesq Says:

^I was more referring to the polarization that he received from that status rather than just the fact that he’s the best

  17. SillyWilly Says:

I think my take on the Tiger thing comes from my personal sensibility:

This summer I’ll work in the prison system, and I hope to dedicate my life to criminal public defense. In order to do this work, I have to be able to forgive. At least in the abstract sense, and hopefully on a very real personal level.

This is how I feel about Tiger and Trey. Things got bad for them, but they’re working out of it.

I don’t want to be controversial. After all neither Trey nor Tiger are my friends, so it doesn’t matter what I think. I just hope if something like this happens to people I know and love, Ill have the strength to forgive and help them move on.

  18. marcoesq Says:

I hear you man, from a normal person’s perspective it may look classless or shallow

But cmon, his dad is pretty much the reason Tiger is Tiger

If it weren’t for his dad, I’m sure he would’ve wanted a normal childhood and done all that normal kid shit

Maybe in his eyes, this is a way of trying to redeem himself. He always looked to his dad for approval

  19. gratefulcub Says:

“But, I for one, believe his turn around has been sincere”

I have a hard time seeing it that way because the day he went back on tour, Nike releases a commercial capitalizing on his troubles!!

I have a feeling it went something like this:

Nike: “Tiger, listen, uh, we are willing to keep you on and continue to pay you, but we are dropping that clause from the contract that you get to control your own image, k?”

    Tiger: “I guess so…”

Nike: “Here’s what we’re gonna do. Your face, your father’s voice talking about your transgressions. NIKE SWOOSH! Got it? Terrific.”

That commercial bothers me, but really because I can see the scene in the board room full of type a business boy bingo BS like: “Don’t look at this as a problem, look at it as an opportunity for success.” “Oooh Aaaah, yeah.”

He’s been a product since he was 16, part of me feels for him.

Regardless, I am always for the black guy winning the Masters by 13 strokes. Mississippi will fly flags at half mast.

  20. fat bastard Says:

marco thanks for the MB WSP…listened to set 1 from 3/27. ive said it before and I’ll say it again…any non-WSP fan blare a driving song and really listen. thats panic

  21. jdub Says:

It seems that in order to be as intensely competitive as Tiger and other top athletes are you probably have heightened levels of testosterone and ego to match. The problem isn’t that he’s a sex machine, it’s that he has a poorly developed skills to deal with his sexual appetite. As a human being I hope he figures it out.

  22. marcoesq Says:

Np FatB, actually thank Palmer, he’s the one who hooked it

How can you not love a good ol’ Driving>Disco>Driving??

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

so did anyone else catch the phrase Page was playing at around the 11 minute mark in that Stash? I’ll give you a hint: there’s a full jam on it somewhere (not telling where) in 3.1.97 (Slip Stitch & Pass show) as well as in several other shows over the years…

  24. BTB Says:

JOTD ‘Stash’ has that rolling stone’s song teased in it (weekapaug from Germany 97 has the same tease as well – ‘slip stich’ version?)

  25. BTB Says:

Then Page teases it right after Trey – great!
