Ten Tunes For Friday
With two months left until Summer Tour, let’s bust out ten jams for a springtime Friday! These selections span the mid to late-’90s, with some real gems in the playlist. Enjoy the music folks, and have a great weekend.
***
“Stash” 3.30.93 I
One of the first profoundly expansive versions of “Stash” helped lay the foundation for the explosive year of 1993.

“Funky Bitch” 11.30.97 I
The funkiest bitch in history.

“Birds > If I Only Had a Brain > Caspian” 7.8.99 II
A gorgeous piece of improv from Virgina Beach; the band seamlessly slipped right into a Phishy take on The Scarecrow’s “If I Only Had a Brain.”

“Split Open and Melt” 8.2.97 I
This fusing of “Split’s” menacing nature and the emerging, slowed-down textures of Summer ’97 put a spectacular cap on Phish’s first set ever played at The Gorge.

“Tweezer > Lifeboy” 6.10.94 II
The first-ever Red Rocks “Tweezer”- a seriously dynamic and intense version strewn with Mind Left Body jam overtones.

“Mike’s > Life On Mars? > Weekapaug” 11.15.95 II
This multi-dimensional “Mike’s” from Tampa, Florida in Fall ’95, reminds us of the time when “Mike’s Grooves” were psychedelic events in the Phish universe, sparking fires in arenas across the land. And this “Weekapaug” ain’t too shabby either!

@cub, did you wake up in a storage area in the belly of an rv too? cause i did, scariest moment of my life, i don’t know why i climbed in there neither did the girl i was with, weird. all i could see was the light at the end of the tunnel literally.
I thought there were 10 tunes for Friday?
There are 11 if we’re counting segues and 6 if we aren’t…
I like to sing Phish’s version of “Sweet Black Angel”
My wife is scared I am going to scar our child, but the melody is just perfect.
“Why are you singing about guns and gals in chains to our daughter? And why did you mumble that line?”
“It’s got the N word in it.”
“Maybe pick a new song?”
“did you wake up in a storage area in the belly of an rv too?”
Classic!
Morning
dont care about tiger and his relationships, the guy is in the media,
its bound to happen, no one should really care about his personal life
the sport is his job and thats why ppl should like him, not for what he
has or hasnt done outside of the course
i also like to sing brother during bath time, i don’t sing very well, so babies moma is often very confused
No PS, but I did sleep in a U-Haul trailer. Even though I remember getting in, I didn’t remember why I was there when I woke up, and it was dark. Scary.
Then I got outside and noticed some joker had tagged my U-Haul, while I was inside. Put me in a sour mood for a while.
“What’s wrong?”
“Somebody tagged me last night!”
I should have explained more, but I enjoyed the confused looks.
Was it atleast your RV, or just a random RV? If you say random….please say random.
Good Morning –
I was hoping someone could answer a quick question for me, I was shut out of all greeks but will be going if I have to give up a leg, is there anywhere I can buy a package of tickets for all 3 nights that anyone knows of?
Im sure it will be nothing around face but would make life a lot easier for me.
Thanks!
first time hearing the 3/30/93 stash. i think ’93 is now officially my favorite year. for a while ’97 had the edge, followed closely by ’93 then ’95, but every show i hear from ’93 is just balls-to-the-wall.
love all the “can’t you hear me knockin'” teases.
I guess when your “child” is your dog (i.e. no chitlins for us yet) you sing those things to the dog instead of your progeny. The other one I sing a lot is changing Shaggy Dog to include our dog’s name.
Maggie dog, walkin’ down
She walks all around
Maggie dog, where you been?
We have Phish songs for almost every routine too. For some reason we sing Lizards on the changing table, but I leave out the died part. Once in a while the little man walk around the house singing the “woah ooh woah ooh waoh ooh” part. It’s really funny. Brother is our bath time song too. We sing Ocelot to the cats when we are trying to fin them. In the winter Tweezer was a big hit – “it;s gonna be cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, ” and the boy would say “Ahhhhhhh.”
Kids are fun.
I’m going to work after this, but this is something I have been wondering about…
re: We’re Not Worthy, they Wayne’s World WNW bow
I was watching Barcelona and Arsenal this week, and after Messi scored his 4th (4th!!!! and all 4 were magnificent) the entire crowd, 95K+, were doing the arms in the air WNW bow.
Has this been a long standing European/Spanish tradition, or did they get it from Wayne’s World too?
This is the stupid shit that keeps me up at night.
completely random, not even sure why i was on that side of the camping grounds, i’ve come a long way since then
@Stir It
not related to your post, but how did that “test” go you had coming up? Curious if you were able to use anything I recommended…
well the good thing is you DONT have to sing well to sing brother.
@ TIII
Worked very well appreciate all of the information, you were right about the Niacin, good thing I got that scrip, appreciate all the info…
I was surprised that all I had to do was go to the doc and ask for the scrip, no questions about it at all…
Doctors are my favorite when they dont ask questions….
Thanks again.
“completely random”
Yes! I love it.
cool. glad to help, Stir!
Morning Folks.
It rained down there in Augusta, GA. last night.
The greens are really gonna be receptive.
I’d watch out for Tiger today folks
@Stirit
There are so many tickets available for every show right now and prices are starting to drop like crazy
Another reason why I don’t like to mailorder anymore
Post an ad on craigslist but make sure you look around the country, there are so many tickets for most shows (not including the Greek, yet) below face, you shouldn’t have a problem
speaking of Shaggy Dog, that’s a bust out I’d love to see them pull out of the bag again. They could do a fun rockin’ jam at the end of that ditty. hasn’t been played since ’95!
SCI takes over Hampton w/ Disco Biscuits
http://www.jambase.com/Articles/22249/String-Cheese-Incident–Hulaween-at-Hampton-w.-Biscuits
Good Morning, all!
Glad to have TTFF back also.
Also glad about the start of this Masters…nothing quite like this tournament for golf fans.
I was just offered CMAC tickets…can you guys help me make the decision to get ’em or not?
Remember, I’m seeing Ohio, HTFD, SPAC, GW, Camden and most likely Jones Beach…
There’s just something pulling me in about that tiny little show in New York State on a Tuesday night that screams Phishy…
Anyone else going to that one?
Wow.
Believe it or not, I would love to be at that SCI/Bisco show.
Then they named it ‘Hulaween.’
My semi got soft.
I may get left out in the cold again for Halloween musically if PH does Indio again or something.
I hope that doesn’t happen, us Easties would like to throw down in our costumes on this side in 2010.
