Ten Tunes For Friday
With two months left until Summer Tour, let’s bust out ten jams for a springtime Friday! These selections span the mid to late-’90s, with some real gems in the playlist. Enjoy the music folks, and have a great weekend.

“Stash” 3.30.93 I
One of the first profoundly expansive versions of “Stash” helped lay the foundation for the explosive year of 1993.

“Funky Bitch” 11.30.97 I
The funkiest bitch in history.

“Birds > If I Only Had a Brain > Caspian” 7.8.99 II
A gorgeous piece of improv from Virgina Beach; the band seamlessly slipped right into a Phishy take on The Scarecrow’s “If I Only Had a Brain.”

“Split Open and Melt” 8.2.97 I
This fusing of “Split’s” menacing nature and the emerging, slowed-down textures of Summer ’97 put a spectacular cap on Phish’s first set ever played at The Gorge.

“Tweezer > Lifeboy” 6.10.94 II
The first-ever Red Rocks “Tweezer”- a seriously dynamic and intense version strewn with Mind Left Body jam overtones.

“Mike’s > Life On Mars? > Weekapaug” 11.15.95 II
This multi-dimensional “Mike’s” from Tampa, Florida in Fall ’95, reminds us of the time when “Mike’s Grooves” were psychedelic events in the Phish universe, sparking fires in arenas across the land. And this “Weekapaug” ain’t too shabby either!

hhmmm….strange night here…..
A big shout out to the Willoweds, Mr&Mrs. Hope the night ends on a high note for you (no need to report back 8) Sounds like Willowed needs to bring the Mrs to more shows.
Alright, I’m going to bed.
Have a great night Sumodie/anyone else who is up.
Goodnight all!
Pham- Buena suerte, mi amigo! More exciting than composing an English paper, which is what I’ve got happening. I will finish tonight and have it off my mind for the rest of the weekend. Viva!
Indeed. Though we both have our learning exercises. 😉
She also bailed with the bane, lifted the best bud out of the stash fort a her own little RnRsouth of the border. She’ll have to use a can or BIONICS (buy onyx) though because she is not as dextrous and deft with the papers.
And with that I’ll go watch some fireworks from a special event, just up the road.
Phish tour makes markets….
Just now getting to the TTFF. been that busy? yes, that busy?
Yay Phish!
ughh… just finished the dreaded “make me a phish cd” for a co-worker. Total redneck 22yrs old who does bane and will listen to rap so here is my mix- Wilson/Chalkdust /Frankenstein/ Possum/PYITE/NICU/ Slave/ Tweezer/ Highway to Hell.
Right? All you really want to do is put on like three songs, like Tweezer>Soul Shakedown>Bowie or something
Hey buddy,
Don’t forget Freebird.
A sure fire hit for the demographic.
You are using live stuff right?
I flipped my parents over the fence on a family trip to alaska in ’93 with about 20 tapes from 88 – 92 in the rental’s tape deck.
If the listener truly appreciates music for music’s sake, you get more mileage out of the live stuff.
For the record, it was set two of 4-30-92 that flipped the switch after I called the play by play on Cracklin Rosie. The Cymbals make it, no?
As far as I can tell, Neil Diamond wrote/played songs other people are prone to singing by themselves or amongst others. FWIW
hey blackboard,
what is the website that contains all you want to know about psychedelics?
@Mr C you have posted it here before… can’t currently think of it…
erowid.org
Did I mention I may be known for making amongst the world’s finet marinade?
As per people that are indeed, also included, amongst the world’s finest. fwiw
^thanks PB. that is the one.
i am working on a case of conversion, e.g., psychedelics aren’t really that bad and timothy leary wasn’t really the most dangerous man in america. any other resources welcome!
and no, i believe you did not mention that. *ting* to you, sir.
billie joe from green day just effectively described a gravity bong on real time with bill maher.
well done, billie!
cable tv, bringing what we’ve needed for a long time and then some.
while simultaneously broadcasting the internal, intellectual destruction of all civilizations exposed. frame by frame…
tried to convert some dude who went to yale tonight to Phish.
he preferred early 90s grunge.
i said well……if you like nirvana more than neil young i simply can’t help you
then i said what about grunge do you like
he said the darkness
i said oh like the darkness you get in 4 minutes
he said exactly
i said do you possess possession
he said what do you mean
i said can you let a band achieve darkness
he said of course
i said no you can’t. you can let a band rehearse darkness
he said what do you mean
i said planned darkness is not darkness
he said what is it
i said: its business.
then i walked away.
go phish!
i meant possess patience
you should have burned him some 95 darkness
wouldnt have helped. people are pretty set in their music tastes, its not their fault.
they say whatever you listen to when u graduate is most likely what’ll stick with you for life.
i made it just in time! converted in 10th grade
Check out the “Can’t you hear me knocking” tease in Stash! I thought for sure they were going to go into it full blast, but once it settles down only Page hints at the breakdown at the end.
Really good selection this week!
