Weekend Nuggets: International Phish
DOWNLOADS OF THE WEEKEND:
Listening to Prague ’98 this week inspired me to dig into the international archives. I’ve dug up two stellar show, continents apart. The Osaka show from 200 features a creatively demented “Down With Disease” that may be the greatest jam that nobody talks about from Phish’s prolific run in the Pacific. The first set “Ghost” brings another dark-horse highlight from a show that took place three stories up in a massive shopping complex, (the second show of Japan to take place within in an elevated shopping plaza!)
The second selection comes from the transformative tour of Summer ’97, and the band’s gooey, raw funk is on full display throughout. The second set brings the heat from start to finish, bookended by thick explorations of “Wolfman’s” and “Ghost.” Have a great weekend!

Jam of the Weekend:
“Bathtub > funk > Gin” 7.10.97 I
A relic from Marseilles, France in early Summer ’97; back when tapers tracked “funk” jams, and Phish grooved unmercifully.

Golly, haven’t been posting much lately! Been taking the time to read back everyday, but y’all are so damn fast lately!
I’m excited for summer. Really really excited.
That Japan video is disconcerting, what with the arrangement of the band…
It’s like Page/Mike/Fish and then …………………………….. Trey
Strange…
SUMMER!!
I’m not sure how many times they’ve changed their arrangement on stage, but the way the band is set up in the Japan video was the norm at one time.
Man do I hope they can get back to that level of improv from 97. That level of concentration is incredible. If you can’t use smack, better learn how to meditate I guess! You see that frightening look of eternal awareness that starts around 9 minutes. Wow. Empty eyes, nothing but music inside that head.
Good morning boys and girls. Those who were on the BB last night here’s a quick update.
Last night was a total fail!
Me and the Mrs. went up stairs only to find out that our 2 year old snuck into our bed and fell asleep
Tried to move her…she flipped. End up staying in the room for the rest of the night.
Ruined any chance of relations for Mr. Willowed.
llfa Willowed, my thoughts are with you in this difficult time.
i might be wrong but i think that was the stage setup from 1999-2004…or did Mike and Trey switch at one point? I know Fish was in the rear during that time frame. I was SO psyched that they returned to the original setup!
So, 9 beers, one GG and vodka, and a glass of merlot. You’ve got to have one hell of a hangover Willowed.
Hair of the dog?
bummer, Willowed. Better luck next time. Work beckons, catch you all later. Have a good one
Trey was on the far right (stage left) from mid ’99 until through the end of 1.0 on 10/7/2000
Major Charlie Miller up=grade this morning folks!!! 🙂
The only thing better than May ’77 is maybe April ’78
@ Mr. C
I know you’ll love this one! Not too far from your old stomping grounds!

Checksums
ah yes Marshall, that would make sense.
THANKS El Dude!
then after hiatus trey moved to middle but fish stayed in back; then the latest return had them returning to the old 4-across setup..
@ Willowed
That sucks man! Nothing worse than trying to get some nookey and the kid cock blocks ‘ya in a matter of speaking.
Well, there’s always tonight!
El Dude
has Miller always been this prolific? I only started “following” him on WT and etree lately and he has been putting out some serious quantity! There is a place for him in folklore.
I remeber in ’99 i think it was that they had the “Zeppelin” set up with Fishman rear center. am I mistaken?
@ KP
There are waves or as everyone in the GD torrent community call ’em “Miller Floods”.
Charlie has a brand new bad ass computer now along with a new editing station. This just happened in the last 3 weeks. But in the last year and a half he got hooked on scripts and was MIA for awhile. He’s been clean for 6 months now and with the new equipment, mostly purchased through donations from us, He’s promised to really kick out the jams if you will.
Im a new dad, so no one better be talkin lack of loving… ironically the act of love produces the little one who stops it forever.
el dude – mid ’99 to end of 1.0 it was (left) Page, Mike (center), Fish (center back), Trey (right).
The Live in Vegas video has this setup.
wow, interesting Dude. so nice to have upgrades!
Here is the worst part. I have to work today. At work right now. God help me!
Last time I drank 12 of anything alcoholic, it took me two days to feel normal again.
and of course in typical male fashion, I got mad at my wife because our daughter snuck into our bed. Somehow it was my wifes fault for no snooks last night.
That’s completely logical….right?
@ Marshall
Gotcha. For some reason i couldn’t remember when exactly that all went down.
Leo W. is down in SC.
You guys meeting up this weekend?
I think he’s by the in-laws.
3 kids under age of 5 = ultimate form of birth control. If your having doubts about whether or not to start a family, come to my house for 24 hrs. You’ll buy yourself another year, at minimum.
