Weekend Nuggets: International Phish

DOWNLOADS OF THE WEEKEND:

Osaka 2000

Listening to Prague ’98 this week inspired me to dig into the international archives. I’ve dug up two stellar show, continents apart. The Osaka show from 200 features a creatively demented “Down With Disease” that may be the greatest jam that nobody talks about from Phish’s prolific run in the Pacific. The first set “Ghost” brings another dark-horse highlight from a show that took place three stories up in a massive shopping complex, (the second show of Japan to take place within in an elevated shopping plaza!)

The second selection comes from the transformative tour of Summer ’97, and the band’s gooey, raw funk is on full display throughout. The second set brings the heat from start to finish, bookended by thick explorations of “Wolfman’s” and “Ghost.” Have a great weekend!

Jam of the Weekend:

Bathtub > funk > Gin” 7.10.97 I

A relic from Marseilles, France in early Summer ’97; back when tapers tracked “funk” jams, and Phish grooved unmercifully.

  1. whole tour! Says:

cheapest 7-4 on stubhub = $139 for reserved section 101

  2. whole tour! Says:

i hope that hope works out for both of us 🙂

  3. ChefBradford Says:

That’s garbage, I haven’t been able to get a 7/3 ticket for over a week, and it still isn’t listed as sold out. Hell, the phish.com link for the 7/3 show actually went to 7/4 for at least a week

    boo

good luck to both of us, buddy

  4. whole tour! Says:

i keep checking the ticketmaster 7-4 page everyday just in case they release more tickets.

They were still releasing camden and MPP tickets the other day.

keep trying as it gets closer…i’m sure they are holding out.

    good luck!

I figure saying this will no doubt lead to at least a handful of disagreement, but I just finished watching Boondock Saints, and I thought it was a really cool flick. Not perfect by any means, but I really really enjoyed it! Enough to check out the second one, despite the lackluster reviews…

    Anybody else excited for summer?!?

  6. ThePigSong Says:

Don’t spoil the Boondock name by viewing the second one. Trust me.

  7. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

    Good morning all.

@ KWL – that Nassau soundcheck was actually recorded on 4/2 but it’s included as filler on the 4/3 disc set (oddly). Same goes for the Providence soundcheck.

  8. stitchstash Says:

Good morning too. I just read back and saw the spreadsheet. That is amazing. Thanks voidboy!

  9. Mr.Palmer Says:

Morning folks. Got my new Imac set up. Bad news is i had all my data on an external HD that wasn’t mac compatible. Major fail! Going through process of copying all my files to a 3rd party on-line data storage thing, then download to IMac. What a pain in my ass.

  10. stitchstash Says:

Sounds like you’ll be busy today Mr. Palmer. Hopefully your new set up will be worth it.

  11. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

@ palmer – can you take it to an Apple store – they could do it for you. I know if you bought it from there, that’s part of the service.

  12. Mr.Palmer Says:

more importantly, how do i refresh this page with an Imac? f5 isn’t doing the trick any longer.

  13. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

    command – R

  14. Mr.Palmer Says:

    thanks Marshall.

  15. stitchstash Says:

Wow, I didn’t even know that you could refresh with the f5 button. I just hit the down up arrow next to the x. You learn something knew everyday on the blackboard.

  16. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

command – l will highlight the URL if you like doing that. It’s the same as cntrl-d on the PC (at least I think it’s Cntrl – I’m not in front of the pc and I do it without thinking about it, so it could be a different left pinky button – maybe it’s Alt-D – I will have to go get on the PC to be sure).

Command – arrow key left will take you back a page.

  17. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

    ^ that’s Command – L to be clear.

  18. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

Command – T will open a new tab in firefox (probably same in safar which I don’t use, except on the iPhone).

  19. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

And with that, I’m going to stop … I’m sure mango mitch can answer all your Mac questions better than I can – he’s an Apple Genius at the NYC store I believe.

  20. Mr.Palmer Says:

thanks again Marshall. I signed up for those one-on-one sessions. i’ll get the hang of it sooner or later.

  21. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

Palmer – do they not offer the “we’ll transfer all of your files for you” service as part of a Mac purchase anymore? It’s only from Apple store purchases I believe.

  22. Mr.Palmer Says:

It was never mentioned , nor did i read that anywhere. Do they come to your house? Or are you supposed to shlep your old cpu to them?

My problem was i had all my music on an external, which wasn’t compatible to Mac. I had to pay $25 to use this online storage facility as the middle man. It will just take a long time. I’m not a patient man, either.

  23. EL Duderino Says:

    @ Palmer

I gather you took out of the box yesterday?

    Do you like it?

Their pricey but worth the money IMO. As they say you get what you pay for! Remember also, it’s about the warranty and customer service. If you didn’t get the extended warranty I suggest very strongly that you do.

  24. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

palmer – I believe you had to schlep the PC (and external) to the Apple store. Not sure about the privacy issues.

El dude – why do you say Yea on the Ex Warranty? Just looking for your opinion. I always pass on those, and “self insure.” Plus, if it’s a year warranty or less, my CC doubles it automatically.

  25. Mr.Palmer Says:

EL dude- it’s great. I just which my files transfer was a bit smoother. details above… not apples or my fault, just shitty luck.
