Weekend Nuggets: International Phish

Osaka 2000

Listening to Prague ’98 this week inspired me to dig into the international archives. I’ve dug up two stellar show, continents apart. The Osaka show from 200 features a creatively demented “Down With Disease” that may be the greatest jam that nobody talks about from Phish’s prolific run in the Pacific. The first set “Ghost” brings another dark-horse highlight from a show that took place three stories up in a massive shopping complex, (the second show of Japan to take place within in an elevated shopping plaza!)

The second selection comes from the transformative tour of Summer ’97, and the band’s gooey, raw funk is on full display throughout. The second set brings the heat from start to finish, bookended by thick explorations of “Wolfman’s” and “Ghost.” Have a great weekend!

A relic from Marseilles, France in early Summer ’97; back when tapers tracked “funk” jams, and Phish grooved unmercifully.

    Silly –

    Beautiful post

I swear you guys amaze me everyday on here. Great minds on this board

  3. Mr.Palmer Says:

Does Mac not recognize rar. files?

  4. SillyWilly Says:

    right on, stitch.

coming to this board finally settled in my mind why enjoy art so much. i could never explain it, but now i can.

    thanks, KWL, and BK.

I hope your morning is going well

  5. SillyWilly Says:

Ive had this problem, too, Mr. Palmer.

I think what I found out was I had to download another program to recognize .rar files. I’m trying to save HD space so I didn’t download what I needed.

  6. butter Says:

use unrar to extract using mac

  7. SillyWilly Says:

Hey, butter, what do you think is going to happen today?

you think Tiger can make the run?

Is Phil in position, or will he get crazy and choke it away like he usually does?

I think Westwood will shoot -2 or so and thats all he’ll need.

Id love to see Phil or Tiger win, but my gut tells me differently.

  8. KWL Says:

man i could watch that video all day long

love just past the 4 minute mark, close up of jerry’s face, the little smile that creeps in at about 4:11. priceless. 4/11 also today’s date. coincidence? i think not. jerry was meant to bring you happiness today!

  9. KWL Says:

and i love the juxtaposition of jerry’s big round face and small glasses, with phil’s skinny face and big glasses

did i mention i could watch that video all day?

oh. i did? guess i’ll go get something productive done then…

  10. EL Duderino Says:

“You kids and your robot phones.”

It’s funny you say this… ‘cuz I have an R2D2 ring tone for my phone…

These are not the droids your looking. Move Along

  11. EL Duderino Says:

Palmer you have to get a plug in for the RAR files brah!

  12. butter Says:

Silly , one will need to post at least -14, which is not impossible for Tiger to get to, but a long shot, and he needs to make some noise early

the -14 will most likely come out of the last group ( as the Master’s champ usually does) so Phil or Westwood is your likely champ.

i agree that Westwood will probably shoot 70, leaving the bar at -14 for Phil to reach. I see Phil performing well today, with him being the one person who could run and hide with it -16 or -17….but Phil likes to keep it much more interesting than that

    should be awesome

  13. Mr.Palmer Says:

My buddy just sent me rarexpander, he says that will work. I haven’t been this frustrated in a while. I have to walk away from this thing for a while. Ahhh!

  14. joe Says:

some really serious NFL caliber shit talking going on in the men’s league flag football game across the street from me here at work. amazingly entertaining really.

  15. Robear Says:

Top of the mornin’ all. You cats jumped in with both feet.

    Slick Willy, or Sharp Willy

Deep 3 PO and Stitch, way to stretch my mind before the coffee can kick in!

Today is my son Jacy’s 5th birthday. He’s still sleeping. He’s a real survivor. Defied the odd’s given to him by the doctors, who did not think he would make it past his 1st b-day. I hope the lessons he’s taught me can stick and resonate throughout my life: Compassion, patience, understanding, living in the moment.

Stuff that all but alluded me at birth, or that was passed down in small doses.

For those that don’t know, he has Hydranencephaly. It’s such a rare condition, that wordpress thinks I spelled it wrong!

  16. Lycanthropist Says:

    Robear –

All my love goes your way to you and your boy. Stories like your prove the existence of miracles and the power of human will.

    A truly happy birthday indeed

  17. Mr.Palmer Says:

    Happy Bday Jacey! god bless!

  18. stitchstash Says:

    Happy birthday Jacy!

Robear, I have read comments about your son here and there but never really knew about his struggles. I’m glad you’re his dad! You seem like such a wonderful person. I’m sure your love has contributed to his strength and his will to survive. He sounds like a true warrior. I hope he has a wonderful day today, and I wish him all the best.

  19. Chuck D Says:

Happy Birfday Jacey! The world is a better place with people like you who can teach compassion, patience, understanding, and living in the moment.

  20. EL Duderino Says:

    @ Jacey

    Happy Birthday!

    Five years old today huh?

    Your getting big!

Almost big enough to whoop on your old man!

  21. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

There’s much more to Robear/Jacy’s story, but that’s for Robear to share, not me. Suffice to say that Robear approaches everything, including being a parent, with truly giving attitude.

  22. joe Says:

let me add on the the birthday well-wishes and positive vibrations headed out to the left coast!

  23. EL Duderino Says:

    @ Palmer

Get “Baned” and then start over again.

  24. KWL Says:

happy birthday Jacy! You rock!! Only the coolest people were born on April 11–take it from me, I know!

    @Robear you’ve got mail brother.

  25. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

    Happy birthday KWL.
