Robear- Youre in Northern Cali, right? Have to make an excuse to get back up there sometime soon- my soul needs it. Love that part of the country and the people that live there. May need to give some thought to moving up the Coast if I can find work…
@el dude: right, that’s right. i heard about jerry and the c-dogs. wasn’t he diabetic too? jeez. amazing he lasted as long as he did. cigs didn’t help; could have been the worst for him.
me, i’m dippin carrots in homemade humus. yum
I stand corrected. shaggy dog is not a phish original. it’s a sam lightning hopkins tune
i was thinkin no dogs allowed. another forgotten gem. What about an all dog themed set one day?
Set I: Runaway Jim, No Dogs Allowed, Dogs Stole Things, Dog Faced Boy, Shaggy Dog, McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters, Harpua -> Dog Log-> Harpua
No Dogs Allowed – awesome tune, I had forgotten that was the foundation of Divided Sky…check the Colorado ’88 tapes, there’s a great version.
and how bout another M set one day?
set II: My Friend, My Friend, Mound, Mountains in the Mist, Meat ->Mind Left Body Jam ->Moma Dance->Makisupa, Mike’s->Mellow Mood->Maze
E: Mother Nature’s Son
Saw Phish 3D last night in a Richmond, Va theatre for the midnight screening. My friends and I were 4 of 8 people in the theatre. We snuck in some 22oz Magic Hats and some trees and had a blast of a night. For my buddies who were noobs, it was a great introduction to the (somewhat) live phish experience. They all left wide-eyed and amazed. Song choice could have been better. Good Tweezer and Maze. Acoustic song choice was a bit weak. I was hoping for Talk and McGrupp but oh well. Stones songs were pretty rockin’ and the 3D effect was nice but as mentioned earlier, more Burpple and in-your-face balloons would have been appreciated. When the credits came on I was like “geez we just sat down, how about another set…” Also not as much Festival grounds interaction like the IT dvd. I wanted to see more campground and amusement shots to get the “whole fest” feel. Great experience. Can’t wait for the DVD.
Wow, just listened to a killer Brother (5/17/92)
Kaya- no Meatstick? No M set is complete without a Meatstick IMO.
@DocGanz: There ya go. A 92 can blow minds.
Mr. P: i considered it. I don’t loathe meatstick, but i won’t miss it, if they buried the meatstick. I’d sooner add Mock Song to the M set, but that didn’t make the cut either.
6-10-2009 bowie just took part of my face off
Ok, sorry to talk baseball for a sec, but Robbie Cano’s OBP is .437 so far for the season- that’s crazy! Also, Phil Hughes pitching another fine game> breakout season to a long and likely prosperous career- he’s the anti-Vasquez.
Thats it, Ill drop it now. Sorry.
Not much of a Yankees fan, but I really like how Phil Hughes pitches. Keep him in the rotation and send Joba the Chump back to the ‘pen.
would love to see Stop Breakin Down (stones) find a slot in the setlists this summer.
one straight blues tune every now and again works just fine.
lot of possibilities in the exile song list. shake your hips eprhaps. love that slim harpo joint
just cued up the 6-9-2009 ghost. let’s see if this early summer puppy holds water.
Wouldnt mind seeing more of Remain in Light make it back into an occasional setlist…
@kaya
that ghost is great
you are in for a treat
I’m still waiting for them to cover Clapton’s Let It Rain, they are perfectly suited for it right now, could be a great second set opener ala Rock and Roll or Drowned.
My buddy has been screaming and holding signs for this one since the mid-nineties, would love to seem them pull this…imagine Mike yodeling?! He would slay it.

Indoors the place would be bonkers!
@docGanz: no doubt. born under punches, great curve, once in a lifetime, houses in motion, seen and not seem, listening wind, overload — all played only once 10-31-96
crosseyed – 11 times played since 10-31. 2 summer 09 appearances.
@andrew. you’re onto somethin.
@lycan. this ghost has me swayin. flowy
I suppose an S show seems super sweet:
Set I:
Soul Shakedown Party, Sparkle, Sugar Shack, Sand > Steep > Swept Away > Sand, Strange Design, Slave to the Traffic Light
Set II:
Stealing Time From a Faulty Plan > Simple > Seven Below, Stash, Sneakin Sally > Split Open and Melt
E:
Sleep, Suzy Greenberg
doc, come on out. or up. great time of year up here. pitch a tent, get yer hands dirty.
palmer, earlier statement retracted. hard to over rate something that can’t be put into words.
the ‘gin’ from 11/23/97 has a clear ‘birds’ (as stated earlier) theme around the 17 min. mark. just an incredible show. great ‘sparkle’, nice clap along with ‘stash’. a bit too jammy in the second set, but they make up for it on the encore.
wow. 6-9-2010, an overlooked gem of summer 09? this shit works.
