Weekend Nuggets: New Haven ’92
DOWNLOADS OF THE WEEKEND:
The first two nights of New Year’s Run ’92 took place in The Palace Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut – home of the best pizza in the nation. Before moving north to Springfield and Boston, Massachusetts, Phish blew up The Nutmeg State on their way to 1993. Enjoy the old school shows, and most importantly enjoy the weekend. Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers that make the world go ’round!

@garretc TAB rocked…loved the acoustic minisets
Knee-deep in 12.1.96 Tweezer. No way out in sight…
After an afternoon hiatus I’m back to listening to 2/28/03…Set 1 was great. Amazing Gin, great BOTT, such a peak in the Walls of the Cave jam.
Set 2, Tweezer, woah. Soul Shakedown must’ve been nice to hear, now I’m on the Bowie and it’s dark and sick.
Also, if anyone’s got a real good source for this show I’d be interested.
love how the sbds from lp from 03-04 sound n my car!!!
Here’s to getting back to that in 2010!
theres no reason the sound on those should be that bad,
I get better sound out of my homemade and rigged studio at home , lol
any lurkers?
I just dled the source from the Phish spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p8WKkpP-TKpO1VnQgcff6EQ&gid=17
Didn’t feel like searching too far. It’s alright, but not really something that’s very re-listenable.
lurkers…?
im lurking…
bourbon county beer by goose island gets the jerb done. fyi.
everyone get raq from 4.30.10 at bowery ballroom. it was their come back show. i had tix and skipped it. listened today. wish i had gone…
@Stupendous
Thanks for sharing that music Friday.
Here’s the link to the Elevator Drops I was talking about… their older stuff (ie Elevator to Heaven) remiinded me of the vibe of the stuff you shared.
Check it out if you get a chance.

Sorry – Chitown has the best pizza in the world. No question.
Fall 09 LivePhish boards sound waaay better than either leg of summer tour
markah,
i’m from indiana and used to not understand the whole new york pizza thing. since moving here, i’ve changed my mind. i still love pizza places back home but thick crust pizza is now out of my repertoire.
Mitch…
RAQ sounds great. Thanks for the tip. Hoping they head out to CO sometime this fall.
Markah…I have heard this many times from Chicagoans, but you are mistaken. Maybe a #2, but nowhere near #1 ;-). NY Pizza is where its at! 😯
i didnt wanna put ny slices at the top cause i appreciate other types but deep crust is now out altogether unless im in chi-town.
i’m just hoping i can see raq anywhere after selling the tix to that show. oh well, i wasnt feeling well and i didnt suck it up. obviously wasnt a big enough pull at the time. now im realizing i was stupid. take 10 tylenol and rock out. oh well. here’s hoping they play this summer.
The first time i saw RAQ was at a bar in NYC after seeing Phish on 2.28.03! How about that for a twin bill? Needless to say, my memories of the RAQ show are few and far between after getting my doors blown off by Phish.
Don’t worry Mitch, they’ll be playing again close to home in due time. I listened to that Bowery show. It sounded good.
Sorry – Chitown has the best pizza in the world. No question.
^ oh, the ignorance 🙂
Is CT pizza really any different than NY?
ct pizza almost the same as ny. both really tasty
JTran- 2/28/03 is an archival live phish release that has multi-tracked and remastered and is available at livephish dot com. You can also find it circulating a number of different places illegally, but I recommend paying the $12.95 for lossless. Well worth it for that show. Sound is fantastic and it’s definitely one of the standouts of post hiatus Phish. Feb. 03 was a good month for the boys.
Also, don’t sleep on pizza joints from Cleveland and Detroit. Chicago gets all the cred, but his midwestern brothers ain’t too shabby either.
Happy Mothers Day!
Some little known pizza places that you might hit up on tour:
Rocco’s pizza, South Bend, IN. (on the way from Toyota Park to Blossom, just a mile or two off the Indiana Toll Road)
where’s litteringand or TypeIII to back me up?
Milano’s Pizza
Dayton, OH (just a mile off 75) on your way from Cobo to the Crown.
***NOT typically on tour, but great nonetheless> Turoni’s in Evansville, IN.
per Miner’s comment the other day…i just “test pulled” a nice pair of Camden pavs for the thurs nite show…threw em back. looks like lawns for friday.
OH!, and I forgot in Salt Lake City on 33rd South (Fee4zy)….Big Apple Pizza: A solid New York Style for cheap. Owners are awesome.
I think you can get beer there, too, which is weird for the SLC.
i’d definitely put New Haven pizza up against NYC’s in a cage match.
two spots in NYC to check…they have become critical darlings unfortunately…but before pizza mania hit they were stellar:
totonnos (coney island location)
di fara (e 15th st and ave J in bklyn)
the genuine article.
