    Oh a happier note I spun the first GD show that I really “got it” today (6-21-93), and it was pretty emotional. That run is what got me hooked and kept me coming back. Glad to still be here many years later, still loving the vibe, and still loving the music (albeit different band, lots of the same fam).

    I don’t remember 985 being a LA area code, but I’m not 100%

    Evening folks….what to write about…. ๐Ÿ™‚ Spending most of my time on my book right now, gotta squeeze some posts in at night…

  7. ChefBradford Says:

    but so it is. Not NOLA, not CENLA, not Baton Rouge

  8. Lycanthropist Says:

    @miner

    would still like a comparison of pipers throughout the year.

    i feel like i havent properly taken the time to identify each jam to its unique piper…

  9. Mr.Miner Says:

    ^ thats a great topic. I’d like to do it. I dont have the energy right now to tackle that, but I have it on my list of musical posts i want to do

  10. Angryjoggerz Says:

    What is the book about? I mean, I am guessing it is Phish, but what is the angle? Inquiring minds want to know ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. voopa Says:

    Piper through the ages could be interesting…

    Maybe a 3-pack- Piper, Mikes, ???

  12. Angryjoggerz Says:

    How about a write up on Phish in Canada? Seems worth a mention. Perhaps it can be called “Canadian Bakin'”

  13. Lycanthropist Says:

    @miner

    all in due time my friend ๐Ÿ˜‰
    no rush.

    stoked about LOST tomorrow?

  14. voopa Says:

    Miner,

    Any single show reviews from back in the day that you haven’t posted? San Jose 94? Shoreline 95?

  15. voopa Says:

    …or were you even a Westie then?

  16. Mr.Miner Says:

    @ Lycan. I wish they were just showing the rest of the series in one sitting!! The waiting is brutal…

  17. Mr.Miner Says:

    @ voopa. wasn’t a westie and wasn’t writing about Phish then. Do you mean a review of a show from my perspective now?

  18. SillyWilly Says:

    @angryjoggerz

    sorry I was doing the dishes.

    Im sure my girl would be happy to know you drew some comfort from her actions.

    She lives in Chicago or else I’d be showing her your post. Ill tell her about it tonight.

    All of you who have lost a mother/father/sibling/best friend/wife/husband need to draw from each other’s strength.

    My girl always says that’s one of the best ways to honor her mother: to help others through their own pain.

    Maybe this will help, too: T

    he ultimate act of karma. My girl’s mom’s name was Lanila (she went by Lonnie)…Well, my girls’ big sister had her first baby in Feb. They named her Lanila and my girl is the godmother (big Irish catholic family).

    So the baptism is this saturday…The same week they announced the baptism, A Cultural Heritage center announced that they would be honoring my girls’ mother as the best representative of Irish American Culture in the last 20 years.

    The banquet is on Wednesday and little Lanila’s baptism is Saturday. (this week)

    ^ will happen at some point, for sure ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Angryjoggerz Says:

    Much love to Lanila (a beautiful name!).

  21. cal Says:

    Evening, folks! Been missing the BB lately. I know this isn’t really fodder for a full post, Mr. M…but I’d LOVE to see Miner’s fantasy setlist for 2010! Hell, you’re not required to do a long post…

  22. SillyWilly Says:

    Miner,

    Maybe you could start a series where all of us could write a little for you?

    For example, you could present “Best Tour Stops – Restaurants” then have people submit favorite places to grab something to eat at the venue. Take some pressure off you. You could control what goes up but use our inside knowledge.

    You could do “Best Hotels” (this one seems lame)

    “Best Nearby campgrounds”

    we could send in a paragraph or two then you could synthesize it and put it up?

    I love talking about the music, but sometimes its cool to talk about touring life and other aspects of the scene.

  23. Mr.Miner Says:

    ^ very interesting. I’d be into trying something out. Best places to eat / bars at each stop on tour?

  24. SillyWilly Says:

    @angryjoggerz

    I just realized, too, that you didn’t ask me to tell anymore stories, so I apologize for preaching.

    I will be sure to pass along your kind words to my girl.

  25. Mr.Miner Says:

    so i hear that they may do Austin Cit Limits > multi night Vegas run in October…
