Fall Forecast: Vegas Baby?

Las Vegas 2010?

While Phish has yet to play a single note of summer tour, rumors are already circulating about what they may do come fall. And right now, the whispers are all talking about a three-night return to Las Vegas during the second week of October. If this happens, Phish would return to face the city that has come to symbolize the beginning of their demise in 2004. But at the same time end, Phish in Vegas is a tradition like none other. There’s nothing quite like spilling out of Thomas and Mack, wide-eyed onto the strip, as the night has just begun. An annual rite from ’96 moving forward, Sin City hosted many memorable Phish shows, and if the whispers are correct, three more are coming down the road.

Vegas 2000 Poster

While a stop in Vegas may seem surprising given the sober, family-oriented vibe of the band these days, returning to Vegas may be a way for Phish to right the wrongs of ’04, and they know there is no better locale for their fans. Regardless of reasoning, it seems that Phish may once again visit the neon desert oasis before too long. Apparently, these dates would be in conjunction with an appearance at Austin City Limits Festival, this year taking place between October 8-10. So if one were to hazard a guess, Phish would hit Vegas the following weekend of October between the 14th and 17th. Going purely on speculation here, perhaps the band would then head west for a run up the coast after these rumored dates in the desert. One can only hope.

And in other overheard mumblings…It sounds like the Holiday Run will shift back up north to Madison Square Garden this year, after two consecutive appearances in Miami. And maybe – just maybe – Indio may present itself as an option for Halloween again, after the original dates conflicted with Austin’s festival. Obviously we are be getting way ahead of ourselves here, but sometimes, as Phish fans, that’s what we do. And with less than a month left before Chicago’s summer kick off, what better way to kill some time.

What do you think?

El dude, do you use MobileMe with your airport extreme?

  2. El Duderino Says:

    @ Leo W.

Nope. You can get them at Best Buy.

Best hundred you’ll spend in a long time.

  3. Chuck D Says:

looking at that airport extreme page, this line got me excited:

“If you’re a MobileMe member using a Mac with Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard, you can even access the files on the drive over the Internet.”

hook your external HD up to the airport and you can access the external anywhere with internet access…

so crazy. not two years ago it was like $250 for 500GB. now they are practically giving away 1TB drives. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love living in the future!

  5. El Duderino Says:

    @ Chuck D

I don’t have Air Port Extreme.

Asked for it for Christmas but was denied

Instead I was given the WD High Def Media storage/player thingy.

I’m selling my purple/orange Hampton poster. It has a half inch tear in the edge that will frame out. If anyone is interested, I’m asking $80 shipped.

In other news, I’m ready to go home from work. whats up with you guys?

  7. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

let me just add 1993 Rebas to the list of fast paced songs that would work well for encouraging our Wook Power “drones” to pedal faster. when did that song slow down so much? it was like a freaking race through the composed section back then!

  8. El Duderino Says:

    @ Chuck D

    I know!

I think that’s awesome. You could access your whole collection over at a buddies house if he wanted something. Pretty Cool indeed!

  9. SillyWilly Says:

I remember when the rule of thumb was 1 dollar/1 gig.

    I bought a 100 gig in 2007 for 80 bucks on sale.

I think I might have to tell the wife we are taking a second honeymoon to the “New Napa Valley”

something tells me that might not go as well as I think though…

  11. Mr.Palmer Says:

I bought a small 160g Maxtor external a little over a year ago to back some stuff up on my old PC. I was none too pleased when i was told that it wasn’t MAC compatable .

Uh oh, the “non-scalper” just called again…

ok, here’s a little project for the “name that tune” minded folk out there.

In the 4.29.93 show, there are several teases throughout the show and there is one that I simply cannot place even though I should know the song. During Weekapaug during the breakdown section right before they drop into Makisupa Trey is playing what sounds to my ears like a classic bluegrass tune that I should know but I cannot place it. It really sounds like one I was learning on mandolin at some point…

Any help for my frazzled brain would be appreciated!

  16. Mr.Palmer Says:

t3- phish.net says there is a “can you hear me knockin” tease during the paug. not really classic bluegrass though. I’m sure you checked that already.

  17. voopa Says:

That sounds very familiar, but I can’t name it…

  18. ChefBradford Says:

Rolling Stones. See the end of Weekapaug from Slip Stitch and Pass

Newegg has some amazing deals on extrernal HD’s. I saw a few the other day, 2 TB for $139 w/ free shipping. They may be the less-than-top brands but I think a couple of them have at least a 4-star rating…I hold Newegg reviews in pretty high regard.

  20. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

Not talking about the can’t you hear me knocking tease. That’s after makisupa. I mean the one before it. Phish.net doesn’t have it noted

  21. voidboy Says:

    Type III,

“yeah, more ice these days than rock but I occasionally teach introductory rock climbing classes these days. living in new england has its plusses for variety. lots of rock types and you can do everything from little bitty top rope and bouldering routes to epic multipitch routes in the white mountains. nothing like the west in terms of scope, but we’ve got our fair share of good stuff up here!”

Sounds very cool. I used to mostly top rope and boulder… spent many a weekend working problems on local routes. Sandstone and granite as well as some strange sea fearing composite stuff…. Nothing grounds my head more than climbing. No multi pitch or ice… sounds cool. Did you ever read the book “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” (the guy who lost his hand in a slot cyn in Utah)… he was a serious ice/mountain climber throughout CO and was also a big Phish fan… even lists some of his favorite shows that he played while stuck.

  22. ChefBradford Says:

Phish Companion says:”Ya Mar included a Can’t Turn You Loose tease from Page. Hydrogen included a teasde of I’ve Got Spurs That Jingle Jangle Jingle, with a bassline somewhat akin to Happy Trails”

maybe I’ll hit up phiSHows.com and see if I can hear what you’re hearing

  23. flarrdogg Says:

How do get wav files onto your ipod without first putting into itunes?

  24. Mr.Palmer Says:

“Between a Rock and a Hard Place”

Crazy story! I can’t imagine what was going through that kid’s head..

  25. flarrdogg Says:

Palmer- Are you pulling torrents yet on your mac? I agree with what I’ve read about flac sounding far superior to mp3, but the only place I can listen to them is on my computer. Inconvenient.
