Fall Forecast: Vegas Baby?

Las Vegas 2010?

While Phish has yet to play a single note of summer tour, rumors are already circulating about what they may do come fall. And right now, the whispers are all talking about a three-night return to Las Vegas during the second week of October. If this happens, Phish would return to face the city that has come to symbolize the beginning of their demise in 2004. But at the same time end, Phish in Vegas is a tradition like none other. There’s nothing quite like spilling out of Thomas and Mack, wide-eyed onto the strip, as the night has just begun. An annual rite from ’96 moving forward, Sin City hosted many memorable Phish shows, and if the whispers are correct, three more are coming down the road.

Vegas 2000 Poster

While a stop in Vegas may seem surprising given the sober, family-oriented vibe of the band these days, returning to Vegas may be a way for Phish to right the wrongs of ’04, and they know there is no better locale for their fans. Regardless of reasoning, it seems that Phish may once again visit the neon desert oasis before too long. Apparently, these dates would be in conjunction with an appearance at Austin City Limits Festival, this year taking place between October 8-10. So if one were to hazard a guess, Phish would hit Vegas the following weekend of October between the 14th and 17th. Going purely on speculation here, perhaps the band would then head west for a run up the coast after these rumored dates in the desert. One can only hope.

And in other overheard mumblings…It sounds like the Holiday Run will shift back up north to Madison Square Garden this year, after two consecutive appearances in Miami. And maybe – just maybe – Indio may present itself as an option for Halloween again, after the original dates conflicted with Austin’s festival. Obviously we are be getting way ahead of ourselves here, but sometimes, as Phish fans, that’s what we do. And with less than a month left before Chicago’s summer kick off, what better way to kill some time.

What do you think?

That’s a nice list of shows… enjoyed the Cypress.

  2. BTB Says:

Silly – that is great! I put the address on the FB invite page.

  3. sumodie Says:

    FLACs all the way, baby!

My rec is to download only FLACs and then convert them to Apple Lossless

Apple lossless sounds way better to my ears than mp3s

Mp3s will be fading faster and faster as HD space expands AND condenses

Then we’ll just be playing FLACs through our PODs/stereos, etc (at least that’s my goal)

Keep FLACs on one HD and your iTUNES mp3/apple loss library on another HD (this is what I’ve finally opted for)

BTW, this digital addiction of mine is completely the fault of Phish Thoughts 8)

Never began seriously collecting digital music till I showed up here

Jerz, ‘way to east coast’ means the colorado cowboys didn’t like your Flatbrim? just kidding, welcome back – not sure about the jersey constituency on here.

  5. SillyWilly Says:

I just requested an invite…I guess I didn’t need to because I could see the address.

i guess it’s another way to get a hold of me if you think you need any help with supplies or getting somebody a ride or something

  6. VoidBoy Says:

I was collecting every (Phish) show for a while and realized my ears were bigger than my hard drive. ALAC? FLAC? New disk space first.

  7. JerZ Says:

BTB- that is hilarious- because it is true! I am also married to a woman named Snookie and all we ever say is “fuggedaboutit”- so we just didn’t fit in.

Just kidding- Colorado is beautiful, and we loved it. I just love NJ (hence the name JerZ).

I am sure that there are some other Jersey kids on here. Phish has always had a strong Jersey following

Spinning the Gorge Sally FLAC right now…bliss…

  9. KWL Says:

    what up tonight bb?

  10. BTB Says:

Jerz – I want to say Sumodie is in NJ, but I could be wrong

  11. BTB Says:

Slamming the PH “Wendell Sessions” from 1990. When I was 18 years old I had as much slap bass technique as Mike displays on this Weekapaug. It’s amazing how much he’s improved – especially in technique and tone.

  12. BTB Says:

Anyone ever heard the song “RIFT” before they reworked it?? Hilarious, and actually kind of horrible…wow.

  13. voopa Says:

    Yes it was

  14. Lycanthropist Says:

you gotten to the horrid vocals yet?

  15. ChefBradford Says:

Holy shit will the over-used Vocoder and the fucking stupid AutoTune tools ever fucking end? Every goddamn commercial, movie, song, or whatever else includes some shitty example, and AutoTune seems to give negatively-talented ‘celebrities’ the idea that they can record and perform ‘artistic’ fucking music

  16. SillyWilly Says:

Haha Yeah I see what you mean…

no worries, though. you guys are sounding good right now, Lycan

how are yall feeling? are you pretty happy with where CF is going?

  17. Lycanthropist Says:

I feel like we are doing a lot musically but very little as far as getting out of this town.

I have been trying hard to get into Athens, but meeting dead ends left and right.

Bottom line is we need a manager I think, and I don’t really know how to acquire one.

I still think that we have a lot of growing to do when it comes to jamming..

Some of the jams in the second set are good, but could be a stellar with a little more precision.

  18. BTB Says:

The dudes from Incubus are big PH fans – didn’t see that coming. Must tell ladyfriend ASAP

  19. Lycanthropist Says:

    what up chef

  20. She Divides Says:

evening all–just getting to reading miner’s post now. I can’t help but wonder what fall will look like so I love hearing these rumors. We probably wouldn’t make it to Vegas, but Indio for Halloween would be ideal, and I would LOVE to do NYE @ MSG, I was so bummed to miss the MSG and NYE runs last year!

    hope everyone is doing well!
Any plans coming together for a SPAC meet up?

  21. KWL Says:

just getting to the JOTD, pretty sick stuff. been awash in the likes of fela kuti and ernest ranglin lately…. looking forward to checking out some Tinariwen tomorrow

  22. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

  23. BTB Says:

Original version/arrangement of “GUYUTE” is so funny to listen to…

KWL – that JOTD is straight up SLAMMING

  24. SillyWilly Says:

Yeah, I wish I knew what to tell you about that, Lycan.

Im sure you’ve thought about this, but do you guys have friends or anyway to trade shows with people Athens?

What goes into getting a manager? you’d probably have to pay one, huh?

    I wish I could help.

It sucks, too, because most of the people I know who could have done something are in Dayton. I knew a guy in Dayton who promoted for this place called Canal Street Tavern. Phish actually played there in 1990.

I doubt you guys would want to come this far north anyway. Too expensive.

  25. Lycanthropist Says:

if we could get about 4 or 5 shows up there we would do it
we have travelled out to CO before
