Ten Tunes For Friday

Hampton '09 (J.Volckhausen)

Another week in the books, and summer tour is but two away. Today is one of the last few installments of Ten Tunes before the music begins to flow in earnest. The time is almost upon us. But while we’re waiting, here are some jams to enhance your Friday. Happy Memorial Day weekend folks, the summer season officially starts now.

Halley’s > Hood” 2.24.03 II

12.29.09 (W.Rogell)

After an incredibly (read: too) long sit-in from BB King slowed the first set to a crawl, this sequence picked up the action to start the second set in style. And post-hiatus “Hoods” began to grow.

Tweezer” 11.11.96 II

Only weeks after Remain In Light one can already hear Phish beginning to focus on rhythmic grooves. Segments of this jam sound like they could be plucked from ’97.

Split Open and Melt” 12.28.95 I

I’ve tried to keep BBFCFM hidden from her. Same goes for Kung. She just won’t like ’em. Guaranteed.

But it would be funny I’ll give you that.

I knew that. I can’t help but explain myself. It’s a human condition I’m afflicted with.

Headphones Phish Duvel and my front porch go so well together.

Kung. what the F was going on when they penned that song?

pretty cool show on JamOn right now with moe. in studio talking about and playing their favorite sit-ins by other artists. I’m not really a moe. fan, but am totally digging this show. If you have sirius, check for it coming up again. Pretty cool.

the only thing better than “headphones, phish, Duvel, and my front porch,” is “headphones, phish, Duvel, my front porch, and homemade guacamole.”

I greatly envy anyone who was at night two of The Clifford Ball. Damn!

  9. Willowed Says:

    I was there NTM. Heaven!!

  10. Willowed Says:

    Almost an hour between posts…wow.

  11. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

And now almost 60 seconds. Wow!

For a second there (wait, I mean an hour) I thought time had stopped. The board really should be manned (or womanned) at all times. Maybe there’s a spreadsheet for that.

Willow – you don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into by agreeing to pick up and transport Leo Weaver to Hartford. That guy is BAD news. Bad news. His original name was fluffhead.

I have a tough phone call to make to an old friend that I’ve been avoiding for a couple of years. Yeah. For real. Need a beer to take the edge off. Ok, just needed to put that out in the ether. Carry on.

Live phish music soon. In my personal opinion I consider it a gift to still be able to see these guys. Gonna try to take some of my own advice in a few weeks and leave my baggage at the turnstile.

phishjams10 upped a bunch of new remasters- including much of December ’95…flac and mp3.

“I SAW YOU with a ticket stub in your hand.”

How much fun is it too hear that.? It means that you are AT a Phish show like no other line does.

    @ Gdad

Not sure what your call is concerning, but good luck man. I got into a pretty good row with my best friend about three years ago and we stopped talking for a long time. I decided after a few months to bury the hatchet and I called him. He didn’t answer and wouldn’t return my calls. The friendship meant enough to me that I litterally called about once a month and just left a message. I mean, I had always thought that it would be a toss up between him and my brother for who would be my best man, and then he just cut ties……It went on until Xmas of this past year when he finally returned my call. It was a tough call for both of us, but it’s in the end, it was worth the effort……

My situation probably does not relate to yours at all, but it just reminded me of it I guess.

I was at the Clifford Ball and I would still take night 1 over night 2.

I looked at my wife after 60 seconds of staring in the middle…
    Cool.

  21. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

Well, in that case I’ll put night 1 on DVD in right now.

  22. Corey Says:

Wow, looked at the PHiSH email about the live PHiSH 10% sale until summer tour (FOR summer tour live PHiSH).

Must be nice to know that fans will buy your music before you even play it!! 🙂

  23. HarryHood Says:

    @ Not Tom

Set II my friend. Set II.

  24. HarryHood Says:

    Prepare yourself

  25. HarryHood Says:

    @ Corey

That’s pretty trippy man. I looked at my hand and my fingers looked like they were growing and shrinking. Weird.
