    @Mitch

The Oregon Country (not county) Fair is absolutely nothing like what you’re imagining.

    http://oregoncountryfair.org/photo_gallery.php

not that many county fairs have a “Kesey Stage” 😮

it’s a very psychedelic event to say the least, but manages to be 100% kid friendly

  2. sumodie Says:

i was saying to Sumo that i really like the fact that so many of us on here are still so down for the adventure.

@gdad: so this is how you try to convince me to make the JB shows 8)

I’m also a sucker for GA floors like Hershey

    General admission trumps all, IMO

  3. kenny powers Says:

I consider Kobe more deserving of MJ’s throne at this point. perhaps because he plays with the same fluidity, the same combo of power and finesse. LeBron is simply a freak of nature and puts up sickening stat lines….kind of like Rondo 🙂 Go Celts! Beat LA!

  4. Mitch Says:

guess they dont need good food when nobody has an appetite. i hope they still have elephant ears for the kiddies.

that looks like a fuuuuun time! and i still want a milk shake.

  5. Mr. Completely Says:

“Totally dominant all season and a non-factor in the playoffs.”

word. To be clear, I hope he can shake this thing, grow a pair and turn into the player we all want to see. I’m rooting for the guy, but I’m tired of giving him the benefit of the doubt. Put up or shut up.

“Those two want to win titles and destroy their opponents, not be friends with them. Lame.”

    I know, right?!?!?! WTF

  6. Phamily Berzerker Says:

“events what are actually fun for adults but kids can just be kids without requiring high parental paranoia settings are quite few and far between to be sure”

    Again MoFo’ng word.

I am blessed to have a sunday evening musical series in the park by my house. Music is generic genre based BS, but the kids getting down and playing with glowrings while the parents wine and beer the night away with impunity save the dreaded hangover /dui.

New bike path made that DUI less likely. Though is Az you can be cited for DUi on rollerblades, skateboard, horseback, bike, or even motoroized wheel chair.

I have a parapalegic associate who got nabbed in this regard back in the 90s. We were shocked but he WAS loaded and driving the wrong way against traffic in the road at 2 AM. Which throws too many red flags, to obscure with aanythign other than snake and nape.

Apparently our pristine Gorge view has been somewhat obstructed:

    Corporate tarp nazis suck!

Elephant ears are great and I’m sure someone sells them, but being able to get Dana’s Cheesecake at 3:30 am while spun out of your gourd is at another level

    @ AW

I was a Smoque guy, but then I saw the light. You absolutely need to go to Chuck’s Southern Comforts on the south side. He’s been on “Check Please”, he’s even catered the Aquaman’s 37 birthday.

    URL: http://www.chuckscafe.com/

Any man who can do Cajun and BBQ and Latin the way Chuck does, need his own statue for cry eye! If you love pulled pork, as I do, then you will flip over Chucks Cochinita Pibil. It’s Mexican pulled pork and it’s awesome!!!

Don’t gt me wrong, Smoque was able to correct so many things that were wrong with Northside BBQ, to be certain. I will put their brisket against anyone’s in the nation. Even with that praise, the ribs are still better at Gale Street Inn versus Smoque.

Chucks brings the best of both of these worlds together, and just puts a new level of polish on it all. He was second in command to Rick Bayless over at Topolobampo. He has real cooking chops.

Oh yeah, one more pick to click: Cream of Poblano Chili with Shrimp. I have a woody just typing this post.

The music at the OCF is usually pretty lame neo-hippy bullshit, whether it’s sucky jam bands, folkies or marin style “world beat” pap, but that’s beside the point really

occasionally there’s truly great music, and some lesser known regional artists like Jim Page and Alice DiMicele (and the good ole Spoonman) can always be found…

music is kind of a background thing there usually

very highly recommended event with or without kids

many of the best days of my life were at OCF, seriously

  11. angryjoggerz Says:

Fact: I was on Check Please.

  12. Mitch Says:

    mr c,
weren’t you the one talking about those loaded donuts too?

    phamily,
“New bike path made that DUI less likely. Though is Az you can be cited for DUi on rollerblades, skateboard, horseback, bike, or even motoroized wheel chair.”

^oh c’mon. we used to dui golf carts all the time. i guess we were driving on grass but rollerblades?? bikes?? that sucks. people use those to AVOID cars, tho i understand the guy going the wrong way

    sumo,
i have no words for them messing up the gorge…. i just simply dont understand people sometimes.

  13. Mitch Says:

    also re: gorge

you cant even see the dip in the wall behind it from that view. and whats with that fence? spiked on the top for people to drunkenly shiv themselves on? maybe thats to prevent people like me running full speed down the hill to get a choice spot??

  14. Mr. Completely Says:

“He was second in command to Rick Bayless over at Topolobampo.”

    ^^ pretty high recommendation

We just got a Yucatan style authentic Mexican place in downtown PDX that does serious cochinita – incredibly awesome stuff – as well as chicken tinga and a thermonuclear but well-seasoned habanero salsa that’s among the finest I’ve ever had

Anyone in Portland area – try Santeria – it’s next door to Mary’s the legenday dive strip joint just off of Burnside

    A++ real mexican food

  15. sumodie Says:

Finally listening to 9/14/99 Boise ID show. Not even into 2nd set and I’m loving it. I’ll take a vibrant CDT opener followed by a Sloth and Curtain any day.

However, I’d love to have Liquid Time kick off 2010!

  16. angryjoggerz Says:

Mmmmm, Topolobampo…. now I am hungry.

  17. Phamily Berzerker Says:

Jim Page hangs in AZ as well. Dud almost snkaed my friends piece, accidentally. No harm, no foul. Seen him guest with random club-based national touoring acts here every som often.

Music is there for the ambiance, mostly I am there to show the kids a good time through free knowledge disburement or by random game generation, along with keeping the free world safe.

  18. Mr. Completely Says:

also whoever named the place Santeria wasn’t doing it ironically

place has a cool, weird mojo going on

    I like it

  19. Mr. Completely Says:

Jim’s a space case for sure

    great guy tho

  20. sumodie Says:

^oh c’mon. we used to dui golf carts all the time.

A while back I read (here?) about a dipshit busted for DUI while riding his motorized la-z-boy chair around the neighborhood

    http://www.thisisbrandx.com/2009/10/driver-of-motorized-laz-boy-recliner-pleads-guilty-to-dui.html

    Grrr…10 whole days till tour…….

  21. Frankie Says:

    That sucks re: The Gorge…

The wind was the 5th member of Phish on that Sally jam

  22. garretc Says:

Hmm, guess nobody else is as excited about Further in Golden Gate Park as I am…

    Just cause y’all can’t go!

  23. Mitch Says:

how could you not be drunk if you think its time to drive your lay-z-boy around the block?

  24. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

friend of mine got a DUI in Denver while riding a bike home from a bar. blew through a stop sign and they nailed him.

I’m pretty sure that someone at the WLOCP* got arrested for a DUI on one of those motorized coolers. nailed him for open container taboot. I know there’s a story online about a guy in Whitehall, NY getting a DUI for that same thing.

*World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Look it up.

  25. [An Unrelated] Wilson Says:

    @ garretc:
i’ll be there, man. not so sure about day two, but i’ll be there with bells on for Further. Will be a nice come down after the previous weekend at the Greek.
