BTW, My wife and I will also be at both mpp shows. I don’t post much but I keep up with this site daily and I feel like I know you guys. I’ll try to add my $.02 more often so you all can get to know me too in advance of mpp meet up.

  3. VTsnowboarder802 Says:

Is Mike too low in the livephish releases? Have they had him too low at the shows?

Can’t wait for SPAC! so little work getting done this week…

spinning Hershey set II on the way to work

so far heard Drowned > Tweezer > Twist

seems like a good fun dance party set

nothing crazy from a jam perspective and I was surprised the tweezer didn’t go bigger

but they sound good and tight and Mike is thumpin

Twist starts to get a little jammy towards the end

so far seems like a nice fun uptempo contained set

    can’t wait to finish

  6. c0wfunk Says:

did a mpp getogether get solidified?

Also – are people planning something in ATL? I’m pondering the eternal question for that night – get a hotel and relax or just grab some floor space at the crash spot that may be an all night party

  7. dogmattagram Says:

don’t know if it’s solid @c0w, but my name is on the list

  8. jdub Says:

So hard to focus on work this week. I just want to bounce around my living with my kids to these sweet new grooves.

Sounds like Hershey was my kind of show. People getting down, plenty of room to dance and funky Phish to move your hips. Love hearing that everyone is digging these shows.

Travelers will be rewarded tonight. Have a great day all!

  9. Kenny Powers Says:

VTsnowboarder802 – seriously? he was practically nonexistent in the ’09 boards, and now he’s fat and juicy in the mix, and you can actually hear the contours of his notes.

disclosure – i’ve only sampled Blossom…but i think he sounds just right in that one.

  10. Kurt Says:

skipped=not going to culinary school, pastry sucks balls, love the fluff/awesomeness. please hook me up w merriweather tix please/july 3rd got my 4th. but not 3rd, … help!

  11. HarryHood Says:

Growing up, I always heard about the Dead and how travelling communities were formed around them and their shows. I witnessed that same sense of community firsthand when I went to the Clifford Ball (my first show). It wasn’t until 30+ shows later though that I truely felt like I was a part of the whole instead of just an observer. The MSG meet-up last fall was truely a turning point for me in my life as far as meeting people and making friends who shared the same passions and same views on life in general. For the longest time, I felt that Phish was MY thing and none of my friends understood it. I went to shows alone and I didn’t talk much about my experiences to my family and friends because they just didn’t get it. You could actually see them zone out and drift off while I was talking about this show or that show and sometimes it would deflate me so badly that I felt bad even saying anything. That all changed for me sometime during the MSG run. At one point I was standing at the Waterwheel with KWL, Robear, Neemor, Frankie, and a few others and we were all just laughing and high fiving as familiar faces strolled by……. I kept looing around thinking, “These are all just really good people!” I remember having this realization that in the course of a few evenings, I had made some lifelong friends from all over the country. I knew that my days of going to shows alone and having no one to discuss a great jam or a show highlight with were over. I’m sure that some of you had that same moment this weekend at BTB fest and I seriously wish that I could have been there to be a part of it……. Miner has created something truely special here. We all know it and I hope he does as well. I hope to shake his hand at some point this summer and honestly say Thank You Mr. Miner in person.

this is a random question: i’m just getting into phish after years of ignoring them in favor of other bands. i’ve been downloading the shows off etree but is there a place to stream them from? i’d love to listen to the shows at work. something like

i can’t believe what i’ve been missing all these years. my only excuse is that it just didn’t seem this good when i first started listening to live music.

  13. c0wfunk Says:

nice hood – I know hte feeling – I used to go to shows w/ 1 show buddy and then go home and nobody would relate at all. Then moving to Asheville I’ve now got tons of phish friends but maybe 1-2 who I can talk to on any level like the folks in here.

This space has a unique group of music afficionados and scholars who have managed to be fairly unjaded despite the massive numbers of shows under some folks’ belts. No easy task in this culture! And some awesome new blood coming in with a fresh energy and perspective infusion.

@HarryHood, you took the words out of my mouth. I’m looking forward to that feeling at mpp. lets make that meet up happen. We are staying at Patapsco Valley state park for the weekend. It’s in a beautiful area of MD. There are a couple of really cool small towns near by that have an almost European feel to them. It’s about 15 – 20 min from mpp. If anyone wants to meet up around there let me know. my email is on the mpp meetup board

  15. c0wfunk Says:

I’m going to be real busy that weekend w/ family who lives in the area but am going to try to get to the meetup. Hard to steer a group that big sometimes especially to motivate to go to an internet group meetup!

  16. lastwaltzer Says:

Speaking of meet ups and people……….Neemor was MIA for a while, I found he was in fact not eaten by BTB but I’m still wondering WTF happened to Marshall??!?!?!?! You out there?

  17. SillyWilly Says:

    Great post, HH.

Im just now realizing this feeling that you’re talking about.

    powerful stuff.

  18. fat bastard Says:

morning boys…hit toyota and blossom, car basically died upon parking. had to bypass BTBash (sigh) and drove to a cleveland holiday inn where we stumbled into the strangest holiday night club imaginable. wedding party, cleveland hillbillies, thuggs and phans. beautiful really.

made it back to chi in one piece and dropped the car off at the mechanic. minds still spinning. miner’s write ups are true and intense.

ya know what else is true and intense, blossom’s 20 years later! my highlight of the 2 shows.

  19. c0wfunk Says:

how do I convince people that me being a web developer does not mean I want to create every crazy idea for a website they ever randomly thought of when they were drinking one night? I do actually have work that I do for real people with real money that want to pay for it!

amazing – right now this dude I haven’t; talked to in like 5 years and honestly wasn’t that big a fan of then is just giving me this big pitch about this movie he’s pitching to james cameron and m. night. this is where I’d insert that rolls eyes thing if I knew how.

  20. SillyWilly Says:

I was pretty baned last night.

Did we in fact establish that I rode with Neemor, Robear, Mitch and Mrs. Mango in Neemor’s car to Blossom??

  21. Luther Justice Says:

^I wish we had the chance to talk at BTB Fest Silly. We’ll have to hang at DC.

  22. Luther Justice Says:

I did see you get in neemor’s car Silly. Confirmed.

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

that’s funny, jdub. I prefer my shows cramped, particularly un-funky, and dissonant with everybody navel gazing while staring at their shoes.
    Wait a sec.
    scratch that.
    reverse it.
I thought I was on for a moment there. good thing I’ve got some shows coming up. hipsteriosis is a dangerous and highly contagious disorder. get yourself checked by a qualified professional. early detection is the key to beating this menace.

  24. ohhphee Says:

    Hey everybody,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. @Gdad, much love and good thoughts your way.

Sounds like the BTB meetup was a huge success! I was in Central Ill. getting my groove on at a really cool get-together myself.

Also, @Wilson8or and Tom(I never caught your screen name, or if you even have one here), I had a great time meeting up with you guys at Toyota. And thanks for having utensils with you, @Wilson8or! Hope to see you all at DC and/or Alpine.

    @HH – exactly!

  25. KWL Says:
