    Good to see that the counter is up and running for The Greek. Over the weekend, that bitch was going the other way…it was depressing.

    Great Job Mr. M. Thanks for reporting on the most important news story of the Summer!

    couple things from yesterday:

    I guess I am the only one who made the killing in the name of + all request bands = irony connection. I want to reemphasize that I’m not saying the band had this in mind at all (who knows either way??) but that it is ironic to me and actually quite funny in my mind.

    @marshall ( I think it was) – trey was channeling demons by using his mic stand as a guitar during my friend – can anyone confirm that this is his usual technique? First I’ve noticed, but also first time I’ve been in position to notice..

    My favorite “extended open jam” from the 4 shows I saw this summer (mpp and atl) was the piper in mpp. My favorite show by far was july 4 because of a variety of personal factors including being down front, getting my long sought camel walk, and the rage cover. dwd > piper > ghost, along with jibboo were the musical highlights but magic was also contained in ocelot, heavy things, and julius (the strangest of places, just have to look at them right)

    Someone also mentioned the bassline that Mike grabs onto in Bathtub – my favorite part of any of the 4 shows I think. That tub just really hit it. And Mike found the same little thing in Ghost as well. I hope to listen back today I’ll post timings if I can.

    nice pics wendy, thank you

    Another one in the books. So out of the covers, if you could could pick two which would you like to see stay in rotation?

    For me: Free Man In Paris and Look Out Cleavland.

  13. c0wfunk Says:

    the 2 I saw worked really well – jumping jack flash and killing in the name of, both seem like perfect phish covers..

    Would love to hear instant karma live also.

  14. lastwaltzer Says:

    @cowfunk,

    I really dug Trey’s guitar part tacked onto the outro, would love to see that expanded upon.

  16. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    mornin’ all

    hope you have all recovered from the festivities of the weekend (whatever yours entailed).

    @c0w
    if there is a “serious” message ever given in Harpua, I have yet to hear it. was trey making a jibe on the 4th? sure, if that’s how you want to interpret it. but it can’t be denied that it is one song where the tongue is planted firmly in cheek every time they play it. that lubrication deprived pup is, after all, a sign of the nation’s decay…

  17. fat bastard Says:

    instant karma and the rover

    @cow, why would trey say that they take requests and actually play them and then the next second say fuck you to fans?

  19. c0wfunk Says:

    @type3 – “it’s a sign of the nation’s decay” was my facebook status sunday night šŸ˜‰ Not sure how that sat w/ the patriotic types on my friend list 8) The one thing trey seems serious about is being silly, sarcastic, and confusing. And melting faces. So lucky for us..

    I’m now waiting for someone to write the phish lyrics history book…

  20. c0wfunk Says:

    @fool

    cuz it’s hilarious? I guess not. Don’t want to beat the dead horse. I thought it was obvious and could not stop laughing about it afterwards.

  21. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @fOoL
    because it’s funny. don’t ever take Harpua seriously. seriously.

  22. lastwaltzer Says:

    @TIII,

    I don’t wanna start this whole argument over about weather or not it was a serious statement but is it really that far fetched to think that Trey was being serious and funny? I mean its not even like he said anything that was too radical. His postion (if taken seriously) seems to be like many of the people on this board that: love their country (they did open with the star spangled banner) yet have some reservations about our government. Not to mention the political content contained in some of phish’s songs doesn’t lead me to believe he was “role playing”.

    Personally, I have very strong political feelings, that being said I often try to make jokes about even my most serious of concerns.

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @c0w
    you and I are on the same page here. let’s close this case and revel in the beautiful pictures above. ready? aaaahhhhhhhhhh….

  24. c0wfunk Says:

    @lw I think that’s exactly it – serious and funny. The statements in the story were very consistent with the serious and funny jabs he’s been taking since he started writings songs (dear mrs reagan, wilson, the whole gamehenge saga)

  25. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @waltzer
    sure! that’s the best part about it. it can be viewed whichever way works for you. trey knows what he is doing. they clearly know that people will interpret it in a variety of ways. and they play on that. it’s like an onion. it has layers.
