  2. Robear Says:

‘do some of you cats not read……..’

you personally attacked and insulted me. apology accepted.

  7. Mitch Says:

Rolling Stone…I haven’t bought tix for 3 months and they’re still sending it to me. Good throne reading material.

They just using us to artificially inflate their subscriber numbers for advertisers?

Whatever, I’ll take it as long as it’s free. Wouldn’t ever pay for it, though.

    @TypeIII

my dad always tells me how he and his friends used to think Rocco’s daughters were the cat’s meow when he was in college.

and sorry, that post made me pretty hungry, too.

  10. BTB Says:

7/4 soundcheck was Water in the Sky (didn’t stick to the script on that either)

and “Demoniacal Laughing” at the end. Like a weird version that foreshadowed the actual Harpua ohhm pa (hindsight)

    I also have yesterday’s baseball scores…

  11. phoammhead Says:

Good to hear @CoW – yes, it was amazing!

  12. Mr.Palmer Says:

taylorC 7/4 pull is pretty nice i must say. Ocelot- most improved new song?

  13. Guyute711 Says:

I love BDTNL from Raleigh, maybe not the best one they have done but Trey shreds it pretty good towards the end. Sounds great to these ears.

  14. yanzlow Says:

Killing in the name on 7/4 is a meta joke – an historically apolitical band being political on independence day. Trey would NEVER do what Zach and Tom do at awards show speeches etc. Have a laugh, and then deal with it.

  15. zzyzx Says:

Rob – yes we got it arranged… thanks.

“trey was preaching to the crowd before the song about how the govt teaches lies in schools.”

But he also was saying that the alternate histories are also lies and the only real history is in Phish lyrics, as in Guleah Papyrus was actually the secret history of the pilgrims. It’s hard to see that as a political statment.

  16. SillyWilly Says:

i don’t think Phish has to be overtly political.

i truly think their music and the scene they’ve created is a “political” (small p) statement.

Phish’s political statement is, simply: Community.

  17. lastwaltzer Says:

“:Mike played at a Bernie Sanders rally in VT”btb

    AWESOME!

  18. llamalee Says:

just re-listened to tweezer from atl and have to say that combo of tweezer>slave is in my opinion the jam of tour with mpp rock n roll close behind. don’t sleep on atl night one great great show just different vibe, more mellow style

  19. Mr.Palmer Says:

Page on fire on 7/4 Heavy Things….

  20. Lycanthropist Says:

I don’t think it was a overtly serious political message.

I take it in the same vein as the “Read a fuckin book” Icculus.

I am sure Trey believes in the truth underlying the joke, but isn’t trying or expecting to preach about it.

You take it as a joke if you want, but if you WANT to look deeper you might be able to find some real truth in it.

  21. SillyWilly Says:

oh, and I don’t mean to comment on the Harpua as i haven’t listened to it yet

  22. Mitch Says:

“But he also was saying that the alternate histories are also lies and the only real history is in Phish lyrics, as in Guleah Papyrus was actually the secret history of the pilgrims. It’s hard to see that as a political statment.”

^whats your point? you dont believe that? πŸ™‚

i love guelah. been chasing it since my c0ck tease version at hampton…

  23. c0wfunk Says:

“Have a laugh, and then deal with it.”

exactly .. the notes that lead you back into harpua very much say that..

It was funny watching trey trying to put it back together after that cover. He very much wanted to say something really cool and witty and funny but all he could come up with (haven’t heard it) was “there was a fight” or something like that. He looked totally overwhelmed by what had just gone on around him. Page had a great look on his face watching the headbanging too, very much amused by the crowd reaction.

I’ll reiterate – I was at sabotage mpp 98 and this was that times 10. Never never seen a crowd react that way at phish. So glad to have been a part of it. My wife turned to me at the opening lyric and said “this could get dangerous” after what we had experienced down there during Julius. The only thing to do was jump and scream and bounce along with it cuz there was no escape, and none desired.

  24. zzyzx Says:

“You take it as a joke if you want, but if you WANT to look deeper you might be able to find some real truth in it.”

Yeah, but if you look deeper into anything, you can find real truth in it… That’s about how our brains work πŸ˜‰

  25. Mr.Palmer Says:

@ llamalle- I can’t leave the Caspian off of that segment because the transition from Caspian to Tweezer is so sick.. Def. in the jam of tour discussions.
