  1. Lycanthropist Says:

In that same regard, Rage Against the Machine brings its own political energy even if you mean it as a joke.

As I said, you simply can’t play Rage with out political connotations, especially on 4th of July.

There is a big difference between connotations and preaching though.

  2. c0wfunk Says:

“i don’t think Phish has to be overtly political.

i truly think their music and the scene they’ve created is a “political” (small p) statement.

Phish’s political statement is, simply: Community.”

    ^^^ this is it.

  3. lastwaltzer Says:

“But he also was saying that the alternate histories are also lies and the only real history is in Phish lyrics, as in Guleah Papyrus was actually the secret history of the pilgrims. It’s hard to see that as a political statment.” zzyzx

so you don’t see any political content in gamehenge?

  4. SillyWilly Says:

Trey’s political tendency is clearly Whig.

  5. Lycanthropist Says:

    I mean of course zzy

That is a whole other level of discussion.

I can find truth under any rock I choose to look under.

I just meant, I think that Trey from time to time wants to say things about how he really feels, but safely guises them as jokes.

  6. BTB Says:

Mitch – I will consider giving up my ATL badge (as I don’t collect them) but it’s my only momento from the weekend.

I’ll think about it, but you got first dibs if I give it up bro

  7. phoammhead Says:

When the boyz were playin’ KItN, I was beaming and lovin’ it – I think we all can relate to those lyrics – no one likes to be told what to do – maybe that’s the message . . . Trey also talked about that at the Indio acoustic set . . .

  8. zzyzx Says:

“so you don’t see any political content in gamehenge?”

There’s a meet the new boss, same as the old boss message in it, but the whole thing is open to interpretation. I once came up with a purely mystical take on TMWSIY.

  9. c0wfunk Says:

tried to get a badge sunday but 10 minutes after doors they were already gone. Elusive little buggers.

  10. lastwaltzer Says:

yeah, i wasn’t crazy about the railegh set since it stuck to the script so much, but if thats phish on an off night or when they’re not gonna jam they still sounded great. Awesome solo in #line and light up

  11. c0wfunk Says:

from another tale told by trey this weekend:

    Woven in the fairy-tales
    We fabricate each day
Our little golden strands of truth
    That glimmer in the light
    The colorful material
    You hold a certin way
Can keep us from the cold
And help to get us through the night

  12. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

I forget. what was so cock teasingish about the Hampton Guelah? I’ll admit I haven’t listed back to that in a coon’s age.

also, is it bad that I saw both Guelahs last year and completely forgot about the Indio one?

  13. Mitch Says:

BTB FTW!! you dont have to if you dont want duder but i appreciate the offer.

that offer goes to anyone with an ATL or SPAC badge. I’ll do 2 patches for 1 or throw cash on top.

  14. c0wfunk Says:

I quite enjoyed the hampton guelah don’t remember being teased? Did I miss something?

  15. spasm waiter Says:

Congrats to all those that hit the southern leg and were a part of the fire that the boyz left in their wake.

I am confidenet they find their mojo again quickly out west and continue to grow their sound, catalog, and musical legacy.

Great vibes and energy coming out of the band and fans right now. It is so great to witness, even if from the couch. I can feel it from my couch. that says something. I have never heard fans of another band say that they can grow interpersonally with the band from their sofa. So great.

Phish spreading the love and happiness is a great, great thing.

Thanks for all of the reports from the road, shows and BB-fests. Looking forward to meeting some of you, down the road.

And of course, Miner. The biggest of ups to you for all your work.

  16. Lycanthropist Says:

Mucho thanks Mr. Miner for you out-of-this-world ability to so beautifully review each night in such a rapid manner.

I don’t know how you do it, but your reviews are a great tool for the couch tour people.

I know you caught some flac here and there, but you stood strong and continued to deliver the goods at the same pace as our boys from VT.

Hope you enjoy your month of and are looking forward to leg 2.

  17. Mitch Says:

guelah was one of my “want list” songs going into hampton. i was looking for ms mango outside smoking a cigg during the first half and walked in during the middle. needless to say i was bummed.

    still waiting….

  18. Mitch Says:

sorry to confuse. c0ck tease for me only.

  19. Guyute711 Says:

yeah lw, still a good debate going whether people liked Charlotte or Raleigh better. I found it’s split about 50/50. I actually preferred Raleigh but still had a great time at CLT and the second set was damn good. I will spin both several times and see if that’s still my take.

  20. lastwaltzer Says:

fair enough, I guess I see the whole Lizards/wilson thing as a play on imperial take overs of indigenous peoples but thats me.

  21. Day Man Says:

does anyone have the links to 7/3 and 7/4? thanks

  22. zzyzx Says:

last – well the whole thing is written in such a way that you can throw all sorts of meanings on top of it…

  23. phoammhead Says:

@Lycan – I just meant, I think that Trey from time to time wants to say things about how he really feels, but safely guises them as jokes.

What you say here makes some sense to me . . . well said . . . the boyz are sharp and witty, but I don’t think too serious.

  24. lastwaltzer Says:

that as you know it the great thing about art!

  25. BTB Says:

I danced so much with my eyes closed I had to remember I had great seats!

I’ve fully on made the switch to eyes closed. Some lady asked me if I was on drugs and my reply was, “4 beers”, she looked shocked – it was funny.

Top 3 rage moments for me:

Killing in the name of (duh)

I need a new pair of shoes
