Weekend Nuggets: The 4th of July

Official Alpharetta Poster

Phish celebrated July 4th with to in Atlanta’s northern suburbs with the third patriotic weekend of their career. Finishing tour with four sets of energetic music, the band created an all-out party vibe for the tour finale. Within the two shows, improvisational highlights emerged in “Bathtub Gin,” “Antelope,” “Tweezer > Slave,” “Jibboo,” and “Piper > Ghost.” Finishing Independence Day with Rage Against the Machine’s ” Killing in the Name,” sandwiched within a comical, revisionist-history “Harpua” narrative,  Phish created their own pyrotechnics for the holiday.

jtran, if you’re interested in Waterwheel, email them. You can find the address at their website, by clicking on the Waterwheel tab. Pretty sure Green crew works the same way, but not sure.

R U doing any shows before Jones Beach? Best way is to go up to the booth and introduce yourself. There was an attempt to rustle up volunteers via Facebook and email, however, most were no shows, and we were short handed several nights.

I’ll ask the peeps how we look for Jones Beach.

    right on.

Im in Wisconsin, but about once a week I see a post for JB tix in either Milwaukee or Madison on craigslist.

ive been late on the last two, but ill keep trying.

  3. Mr.Palmer Says:

Robear, you see the new KITN video ? Someone put it up a few pages back. from the second row in the pit. sickness.

  4. Robear Says:

10 min mark of ‘CDT’ is the phishy techno robo funk.

play a set of that style, and we can have a modern day ‘Tower Jam’.

awesome use of the impressionistic tone by Treyzor.

  5. SillyWilly Says:

I agree. Im really happy with what I’ve heard of it. Im at the Carini, can’t wait for the YEM.

  6. Jtran Says:

I’m not doing any shows besides those two this leg. $$ blown last couple weeks. It would be myself and the girl..well I guess I’d have to see if she’s down with the WW thing, but yea.

Just got hose’d by Gin, holy sheeeyt.

Been looking on craigslist in VT but nothing yet..I’m guessing closer to the date things will pop up around here. I sometimes try to check NYC craigslist but it’s just too overwhelming.

  7. Robear Says:

around 13 min. mark, another great morph into a new jam

@ palmer, thx. will go back and ck. video

  8. phoammhead Says:

Does anyone know what the venue would be in Nashville, TN if the boyz play there?

  9. Robear Says:

jtran, send me an email. you and lady friend might be easier to work in than just you. sell her on it. great way to meet pholks.

  10. Jtran Says:

Saw you post that yesterday, forgot to respond. I’d bet my money it’d be in the hockey arena there where the Predators play, whatever it’s called. Right on Broadway (I think that’s the name of the main street), next to a bunch of sweet country bars and a couple blocks from the river.

A good HS friend lives in Nashville now..may just have to do that show if it materializes.

  11. Robear Says:

those dates from yesterday best be wrong.

Or I’m sending zzyzx to every show, front row, with Flava Flave sized stop watch!!!!!

  12. Mr.Palmer Says:

I’m still not sold on Leg 2 concluding on a tuesday/ wednesday @ Jones Beach. Stop Holding Out Phish!!! What’s the deal?

  13. Jtran Says:

The one thing I saw in them that made me think they were bogus was the Nashville > Worcester drive without a day off. That’s gotta be 10ish hours?

  14. Jtran Says:

    12/9/95 YEM = $$$$

  15. Mr.Palmer Says:

Plus, first i heard Halloween was Cincy. Then i heard it was Albany. That said providence. My $$ is on Albany.

  16. phoammhead Says:

Thanks @Jtran. Yeah, I’ve got a good buddy livin’ in Nashville now and he was askin’. He caught the 7/3 show in ATL with me and was bummin’ hard that he didn’t also catch the 7/4 show. With that strictly rumored set of dates posted yesterday, I would probably only be able to catch Columbus, OH and Nashville, TN. Although, I would try very hard to get up north to do the dates around Halloween. With the tour dates, I’ll believe them when I see them. Miner said that he had heard of the Bloomfield, CO dates.

Regarding this thought, does anyone have any idea when we might expect the next tours announcement? I was thinkin’/hopin’ soon and well before The Greek shows, but maybe it’ll be after 2nd leg. Anyone have any ideas?

  17. Mr.Palmer Says:

^^^speaking of Albany….nice JTran. Worst snowstorm ever driving up to that show. Had to pull over on thruway and have a friend pick me up at rest stop. The 2 door Saturn could go no further. Still made it to show during Maze…..

  18. Robear Says:

spinning 7/4 II all the way through.

‘Disease’ is a legit smoking jam. What a sound!

  19. Jtran Says:

Must’ve been awesome to be there. Jealous.

Wishful thinking…Phish at the Ryman. Damnnnnn

  20. Robear Says:

phoam, look for those dates to come out, sometime after the jones beach shows.

my buddy works for the band. he has no idea where the shows will be, other than ACL. will be a tour though.

wow, just wow on this ‘disease jam’. thought maybe i had rosey memories, rocking out with wendy and her crew, but no. this is the diamond density we love.

  21. phoammhead Says:

I saw Trey do his Time Turns Elastic with the Nashville Orchestra at the Ryman – good for the historical aspect of the delivery, but I need Trey with the rest of the Phish boyz or with TAB to do it for me, if you know what I mean.

  22. sneven Says:

Shit, it’s hot here! I just cut the grass, and was dripping with sweat. Into the house with the A/C set at 72. Took myself a nice cool shower, and here I sit, 20 mins. later, still sweating.

I see swimming pool and beer in the near future!!!!

  23. Robear Says:

thought i heard fish trying to steer into ‘Crosseyed’ for a second, near end of ‘dwd’

  24. phoammhead Says:

Okay Robear – yeah, it’ll be good for me to chill on that subject until its announced – I just really want to know, dammit and waiting until after Jones Beach is over month away – shit! 🙁

  25. Leo Weaver Says:

    @phoammhead…Bridgestone Center in Nashville.
