Miner’s Picks: Summer 2010 – Leg I

6.27.2010 - Merriweather (Graham Lucas)

After several weeks of listening and analysis in the Phisht Thoughts sound labs, the time has come to unveil the latest installment of “Miner’s Picks” for the first leg of summer tour. Because first sets and second sets contained such divergent vibes over the month, I’ve split the picks into a highlight-reel setlist, containing Set I, Set II, and an Encore. Though it was hard at times, I limited myself to one version of each song, so there are no repeats throughout this seven-plus hour compilation. With only a week and a half to go before The Greek kicks off Leg Two, here’s an audio retrospective of Phish’s first month of 2010. Enjoy the selections!

    Morning all!

Leg 2 is just around the corner!!

  6. SillyWilly Says:

“Leg 2 is just around the corner”

it just dawned on me that I don’t envision my path in life to have corners really.

I mean that’s a pretty complicated metaphor to keep in your head.

I think my path in life is more like a giant moving walkway. So much easier that way.

I can stand still and everything just sort of passes by.

  7. RobAins Says:

No Alumni>ltjp>alumni? The Rover? These types of mixes are hard (since discoverong the spreadsheet, I’ve made similarly formatted types of mixes for most of the tours) but I thought alumni and rover were major high points…to each his own

    Morning folks,

Project 1994 has restarted on Etree after a few months of hiatus…today’s feature is a recently circulated (last fall i think?) crisp SBD of 10/29/94 Spartanburg, SC

    http://bt.etree.org/index.php?cat=5

that link is for the main Phish page

  9. coiled Says:

IMHO, the 7/2 YEM was the best of Leg I. Tight composed sections, fluid jam, and Proud Mary->Get Back vocal jam. SICK. No point nit-picking about songs left off, because this was an amazing 3 weeks of music. I just thought that particular version of YEM stood out more than the Hershey version.

Keep the great posts coming Miner.

  10. gavinsdad Says:

thanks KP…damn if I wouldn’t like to find a crispy SBD of 10/21/94 (sunrise, fl) as I got to catch that one.

  11. kenny powers Says:

by the way – great job on creating the tour highlights Miner! Like how you arranged it like a show, a la A Live One.

  12. willowed Says:

Thanks for all the work you put in Miner. We trully appreciate your effort!!
Morning ladies. make it a great one today!

  13. SillyWilly Says:

Thanks for the heads up on the Project ’94 thing, KP!

Im a bit thin on my collection of ’94 stuff.

  14. Guyute711 Says:

Listened to Antelope from 7-14-94 last night and it is just nasty!

  15. nonoyolker Says:

Excellent choices Miner – I dig the “set” flow. I think all of the highlights i would have picked made the list.

Hope everyone hada good weekend! This week is going to be a long one. Time to musk up.

  16. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    mornin’ all

may the light of icculus shine upon you all in this period of waiting. we have all weathered The Time Between so a little waiting can’t do but remind us of what we didn’t have for too long.

looking forward to digging into the “A Leg One” compilation, Miner. nothing but gems…

  17. HarryHood Says:

Miner must have read my mind…… I was just thinking yesterday that it would be nice to have a best-of summer ’10 to listen to while I’m around the house for a while, and then I see today’s post! Thanks Miner, that’s a ton of work on your part!

  18. ben Says:

My two cents: The Back on the Train from SPAC 6/20/10 was real nice and groovy and tight. It’s on my first set highlights.

  19. willowed Says:

    Nice TIII
Every once and a while I try and bring my thoughts back to the time with no Phish, just so I make sure I don’t take advantage of the time spent with them now.
I am in my happy place right now

  20. kenny powers Says:

    Willowed

does that happy place include Grey Goose + Seven-Up and Landon Donovan?

  21. willowed Says:

    Landon is dreamy

  22. jdub Says:

    Top of the morning BB,

    Nice picks Miner! Pretty thorough.

I did some household purging yesterday and found a small book of CDs I thought had been long gone. So excited as these never made it to my computer. A travel book that had some of my faves including Siket Disk and Story of the Ghost, JB’s Anthology, Cake’s Prolonging the Magic, Soul Coughing’s El Oso, LTJ Bukem Progression Sessions 2, and Blonde on Blonde to list a few that I missed the most. What a find!

Make it a great one folks!

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

don’t let him fool you, KP. willowed was drinking Skinny Girl Margaritas last night.

  24. Kaveh Says:

Good morning all! It has been awhile; hope everyone is well. Thanks Miner for doing this for us. I can’t wait for the Greek; returning to the Crimes of My Mind. It is going to be great to see Phish there again.

  25. lastwaltzer Says:

    @silly

    DIVE INTO JUNE 94!
