favorite moment of couch tour so far.

    “Holy Shit, Thats Rob!!!!”

why make any statement about a show without first hearing it? have we learned nothing yet? never judge a show by the setlist. this works both ways.

i want to hear that Wolfman’s. missed it on the stream. I’ll bet that was the highlight of the set. Bouncin actually sounded really good to me. Page sounded very “pretty”. I don’t know, Bouncin for some reason stood out to me. Antelope was ok, but not a standout. Antelope and Stash both need to get nasty again.

The Disease>Free is perfect. A tight high powered Disease with a nice excursion into some ambient groove and a wonderful segue into Free. Free is well played as usual, although they still keep it too short. But that’s a nice combo to open the set.

@ El Dude – i thought the same thing. let’s home the playing is narsty.

@ Silly – there are so many diff kinds, with Western Digital being maybe the best known and highest quality in terms of exterior construction…but you can get some great deals on external HD’s made by more generic companies that still get the job done but may not have as fancy or quiet a housing exterior.

Basically all i do is go to, filter the search options for external hard drives at the size i’m interested in, change the order they are displayed to be from lowest price to highest, and then look at the reviews. i trust the reviews big time on Newegg. If something has 4-5 stars and has a ton of reviews (or more than the comparable products anyway), i trust it.

have bought two cheapies and they are still kicking after lots of abuse. i will say that the cheaper ones tend to run hotter and that concerns me sometimes….but i think it’s just because they don’t come with the thick plastic housings like the WD one I have…instead it’s a more generic metal housing. but it works.

for example, sick deal on this 1.5 TB from Western Digital, 5-star review average, 89.99 shipped

  11. b-rock Says:

Jtran said it, I’ll say it again — Mike is going off in Wolfman’s. Slapping like crazy.

  13. Kenny Powers Says:

or this 2TB one for $109.99

  14. Jtran Says:

Trey seems to be playing with more confidence already. Bodes well for the future.

  15. Kenny Powers Says:

the 2TB one breaks down to 5.5 cents per gig, the 1.5TB one 6 cents per gig. Both the best deals you’re likely to find at this time, but prices are always dropping very fast.

the REAL shit will be when the solid-state hard drives get up to these capacities affordably. no moving parts = no crashed drives. today’s hard drives are ticking time bombs.

thanks to BTB I got a room in a condo (i think).

If anyone needs a camping pass or two for telluride, I have 2 available. Will sell below face to someone on this board. Let me know.

That’s what I’m talking about! Some positivity about the start of this tour, baby!

  18. Jtran Says:

    Fast KDF, jeez

  19. Kenny Powers Says:

i think that recent Fishman article from Modern Drummer bodes very well for the future. He said he thought 2009 was their best year ever (aw, cute), which means they’re having a ton of fun and likely to keep going strong….

  20. zzyzx Says:

Warm up show. A LOT of fun, but nothing to write home about alas. However you need those to make the others stand out.

Damn east coasters hogging the cool songs 😉

  21. El Duderino Says:

I’m so not worried about the future with these guys…

Once you think they’re here for a while they’ll retire.

But seriously… The guys are confident. Confidence is not an issue

  22. El Duderino Says:

    @ zzyzx

Was the colder temperature a bummer last night?

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

today’s hard drives are ticking time bombs.

I can vouch for that. about 2 years ago I had a 500GB drive packed to the gills with regular mp3 music (roughly 80,000 songs or so) that crapped out on me. ended up taking it to a computer repair place where they were able to salvage it all and get it onto a new drive for me but I was out another $250 for the new HD and labor. worth it for the music, but sucked royally. the lesson is to have a second HD as a backup, I suppose. or not have so much music. but that’s not a realistic option, is it?

  24. zzyzx Says:

It actually was warm until the sun went down and I couldn’t decide if I really needed the polar fleece or not.

  25. SillyWilly Says:

thanks a lot for the links and suggestions.

I have to catch the bus into work, but it looks like Western Digital is the way to go, huh.

The 100 gig one I have right now is WD and its performed very well for me.

Haha, i paid 100$ for it in 2006 and that was a great deal.
